The 30-second verdict

Best for couples with different firmness needs. The Saatva Solaire suits couples who want separate control over each side's feel. Skip it if you want a simple mattress without an air system, remote and power cord. Its high price and setup make sense only if you will use the adjustment often for nightly comfort.

Pros
  • Separate settings. Each sleeper can adjust a different side on Queen sizes and larger.
  • Comfort layers. Latex and gel memory foam sit above the air chambers under the pillow top.
  • Long trial. Saatva gives you 365 nights at home to test the feel.
  • Strong edge test. NapLab rated its edge support 9.5 out of 10, though Sleep Foundation gave it 6.5.
Cons
  • High price. The high cost is hard to justify if you will not use the adjustable sides.
  • Power needed. The air system uses power and a remote, so it adds setup and another part to manage.
  • Learning curve. Fifty settings can take time to sort out, especially if your preferred feel changes.
  • Return cost. Saatva charges $99 for a return or comfort exchange.
Feel & Fit

How firm is the Saatva Solaire, and which firmness should you pick?

Start near the middle. The Solaire has 50 adjustable settings, and you can set each side separately in Queen sizes and larger. Saatva's guide groups the feel as 3 to 4 out of 10 for soft, 5 to 6 for medium, and 7 to 8 for firm. NapLab mapped level 30 to about 6 out of 10; Sleep Foundation described the range as 3 to 8. Saatva suggests starting around 25 to 35, then staying at a setting for a week before changing it. Couples can tune their sides on their own.

Is the Saatva Solaire right for your sleep position and body weight?

Fits many sleepers, within a limit. The Solaire can suit side, back and stomach sleepers because each side can be adjusted. Saatva's guide suggests a softer setting for side sleepers, a middle setting for back sleepers, and a firmer setting for stomach sleepers. NapLab lists it for all body weights, but Saatva sets a limit of up to 800 pounds per sleeper. NapLab found 2.93 inches of sinkage at its medium test setting, so heavier back and stomach sleepers may prefer a firmer setting. Its edge support scored 9.5 out of 10 at NapLab and 6.5 at Sleep Foundation.

Feel & Fit

Is the Saatva Solaire good for back pain?

Comfort is not a cure. The Solaire may suit people who want to change the feel when comfort needs shift, but it is not a treatment for back pain. Saatva says adjustable firmness can help people respond to changing needs. NapLab gave it 10 out of 10 for pressure relief, and NCOA's 2026 test gave pain relief 4.22 out of 5. These are product and test claims, not medical proof. If you try it for discomfort, use the trial to judge how your own back feels.

Feel & Fit

How cool or hot does it sleep?

Cooling scores vary. The Solaire may feel cooler than dense foam, but test scores vary. Saatva lists an organic cotton cover, latex and gel memory foam, while the air chambers sit below those comfort layers. NapLab rated cooling 10 out of 10; Sleep Foundation gave temperature control 7.5 out of 10. Sleep Advisor also recommends it for people who sleep hot. Those scores support a cooling lean, but they do not guarantee that every sleeper will stay cool.

Will you feel your partner move?

Motion scores differ. Each air chamber is separate. Your partner can change their side without changing yours. Saatva says this design limits motion transfer. NapLab gave motion isolation 8.9 out of 10. Sleep Foundation gave it 6.5 out of 10. The scores differ. Couples who need different firmness levels may like the Solaire. A light sleeper should use the 365-night trial to see if movement wakes them.

Sizes, heights and prices: is it worth the money?

Check the live price. The Solaire is 13 inches tall and comes in Twin XL, Full, Queen, Queen Upper-Flex, King, King Upper-Flex, Cal King, Split King and Split Cal King. The Queen price is $4,789, and a price check on October 7, 2026 lists a sale price of $4,071. Older outside price checks show other amounts, so confirm the live price before you buy. Build & Safety

How is it built?

Comfort layers sit above air chambers. The Solaire has a cotton cover and pillow top above latex, gel memory foam and an adjustable air core, with two air chambers in Queen and larger sizes. The brand lists a 13-inch profile. Its comfort layers include a 3-inch Euro pillow top, 1 inch of five-zone latex and 2 inches of gel memory foam above the air core. Saatva lists the Queen at 114 pounds and the Twin XL at 85 pounds. Queen sizes and larger include separate air chambers. At 13 inches, use deep-pocket sheets; Upper-Flex and split sizes need a matching fitted sheet.

Materials and certifications

Certifications cover specific materials. The Solaire has an organic cotton top and latex. It has gel memory foam. It has a Paladin fire barrier. This barrier uses rayon and polyester. Saatva lists CertiPUR-US for its foam. Saatva lists several certifications for its latex. These include OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and eco-INSTITUT. CertiPUR-US covers foam content and emissions. It does not cover the fire barrier. Off-gassing is a new mattress smell after opening. NapLab's off-gassing score was 9.4 out of 10. PFAS is a group of chemicals. Saatva says it does not intentionally add PFAS.

Does the Saatva Solaire have fiberglass?

Check the sewn mattress label. Saatva says it does not use fiberglass in its mattresses. For the Solaire, its help page names a Paladin fire barrier made with rayon and polyester. The law tag is the sewn label on the mattress; check it to confirm the materials in your own unit. Saatva lists different barrier materials for other models, so the label matters. These are company statements, not independent lab results.

Build & Safety

What bed base does it need?

Use a firm, supported base. The Solaire can sit on a foundation, box spring, bunkie board or platform. A bunkie board is a firm, flat support board placed on a bed frame under the mattress. For a platform with slats, use boards at least 3 inches wide and space them less than 4 inches apart, with center support. If you choose an adjustable base, Upper-Flex and Split sizes need their matching Saatva base. Keep the air system near an outlet.

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?

25 years is Saatva's estimate. Saatva estimates the Solaire's life at 25 years, but that is a brand estimate, not a long-term independent test. The air system may need repair, and chambers can settle during the first 24 to 48 hours. Saatva says Solaire does not need routine rotation. Its comfort layers can be turned to change the feel, but do not flip the air core.

Free repair coverage lasts 3 years. Saatva lists a lifetime warranty for the Solaire and free professional repairs during the first 3 years. How does the Saatva Solaire compare?

Choose by feature. The Solaire suits couples who want each side set to a different feel. Saatva compares it with the Sleep Number i10. Saatva says the Solaire has more firmness settings, a built-in pump, and a longer trial. It says Sleep Number has app features. Pick the Saatva Classic for a simpler coil bed. Pick the Solaire if separate settings are worth the higher price. Each bed meets a different need.
