Buy this bed if you sleep on your side or change positions and want memory foam with some spring. Skip it if you want a thick pillow top or very low partner motion. The catch is movement: testers found that partners can feel each other move.

Pros
  • Foam with some bounce. Wrapped coils help you change positions more easily than slow-sinking foam.
  • Cooling design. Saatva uses gel foam and air channels to help limit heat.
  • Steady edge. Testers found the sides supportive when sitting or lying near the edge.
  • Long home tryout. You get 365 nights to try it at home.
Cons
  • Partner motion. You may feel a partner turn over.
  • One firmness. Saatva sells one firmness for this mattress.
  • No pillow top. Skip it if you want a thick, quilted top over coils.
  • Firmer than label. Some reviewers called it firmer than Medium.
Feel & Fit

How firm is the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid, and which firmness should you pick?

The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid has one feel: Medium, which Saatva rates as 5 to 7 out of 10. Outside tests place it toward the firm side. TechRadar called it 7.5 to 8 out of 10, while Sleep Foundation called it medium firm at 6; NapLab also described it as medium-firm. Since there is no softer or firmer version, pick it only if a medium-firm feel sounds comfortable. Side sleepers who want a deep, soft sink may find it too firm.

Is the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid right for your sleep position and body weight?

Side and combo sleepers are the best match for this bed. Sleep Foundation says side sleepers from 130 to 230 pounds fit it best. Lighter side sleepers may find it too firm. People over 230 pounds may want more cushioning. Back sleepers under 230 pounds may like the foam pad under the lower back. Stomach sleepers from 130 to 230 pounds may feel enough lift from the coils. Saatva lists a 300 pound limit per sleeper. NapLab gave edge support 9.7 out of 10. Sleep Foundation scored it 8 out of 10.

Is the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid good for back pain?

It may suit back sleepers who want a little extra support under the lower back, but the claims are not medical proof. Saatva says its Lumbar Zone quilting and gel foam crown add support in that area. Sleep Foundation testers liked how the lumbar pad felt for back sleepers. This mattress may ease pressure for some people, but it cannot promise to treat back pain. Choose it based on comfort, and ask a health professional about ongoing pain.

Feel & Fit

How cool or hot does it sleep?

The design aims to sleep cool for a memory foam bed. Saatva says its cooling system combines airflow channels in the foam, gel foam near the lower back, and air moving through the coil layer. NapLab gave its cooling 10 out of 10; Sleep Foundation rated temperature control 8 out of 10. Tom's Guide and TechRadar also reported good heat control. This layout could suit warm sleepers who still want foam contouring.

Will you feel your partner move?

Yes. You may feel your partner move, especially if you wake easily. Sleep Foundation rated motion control 6.5 out of 10. NapLab gave it 7.7. The coils add spring, and the foam does not stop all movement. Tom's Guide found that a nearby wine glass shook during its test. If movement wakes you, look for a bed that blocks more motion or try separate sleep surfaces.

How is it built?

The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid has memory foam over coils wrapped in fabric. The cover lets air move, and the foam has gel near the lower back. Foam also lines the sides. Sleep Foundation lists a thin quilted foam layer, a gel foam pad for the lower back, shaped foam, 8 inches of wrapped coils, and a foam base. The mattress is 11.5 inches tall. A Queen weighs 70 pounds. Standard deep-pocket sheets should fit. Sleep Foundation lists the Full at 54 by 75 inches.

Materials and certifications

Sleep Foundation calls the cover organic cotton. The bed has memory foam. Gel foam sits by the lower back. Saatva lists GREENGUARD Gold certification. The American Chiropractic Association backs it. This is not a mattress test. NapLab found little smell from the new bed.

Does the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid have fiberglass?

Saatva says its mattresses do not use fiberglass. Saatva says this model uses a plant-based thistle fire barrier made of wood pulp with a little polyester, plus natural wool. Check the tag sewn to your mattress if you want to confirm the barrier material.

What bed base does it need?

Saatva says you can use a foundation, box spring, platform, adjustable base, or Murphy bed. For a platform, the slats should be at least 3 inches wide and less than 4 inches apart. Add center support. An old foundation should be under 7 years old and in good shape. For a Queen or larger, Saatva says the frame needs 5 or 6 legs and center support for warranty coverage. Check your frame before delivery.

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?

Saatva estimates this mattress can last 10 to 15 years with normal use. This is a brand estimate, not a long-term test. Saatva does not give a set break-in period. Rotate the bed by moving the head end to the foot after 6 months, then once a year. Do not flip it over. Use a level base with even support.

What does the warranty cover, and what voids it?

This mattress has a lifetime warranty for the first owner. In the first two years, a covered defect gets a free replacement. From year three, Saatva can repair and re-cover the bed. A $149 processing fee applies. Sags over 1.5 inches are covered. Stains, burns, tampering, a poor base, or buying it secondhand can void coverage. Read the full terms before ordering.

How does the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid compare?

Compared with Nectar Premier, the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid costs more. Wrapped coils give it some spring. Foam along the sides helps support the edge. Nectar Premier costs less. Choose Saatva if you want coils under memory foam and in-room setup. Pick Nectar if its foam feel and lower price suit you better. This bed does not have a pillow top. Choose based on feel first, then compare price.

Has the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid changed since it launched?

GoodBed says Saatva discontinued Modern Foam and replaced it with the upgraded Memory Foam Hybrid. Modern Foam was 11 inches tall and used foam only. The Memory Foam Hybrid is 11.5 inches tall and adds wrapped coils. Sleep Foundation's old Modern Foam review address now opens its Memory Foam Hybrid review. That is a change in both name and construction.
