Buy the Saatva Classic if you sleep on your back or stomach and want a springy bed with airflow and steady edges. Side sleepers may prefer Plush Soft, while couples who wake when a partner moves should look for stronger motion control. The main trade-off is bounce: a restless partner can still be felt across the bed.

How firm is the Saatva Classic, and which firmness should you pick?
Saatva offers Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm, and each tester uses its own firmness scale. The brand rates the feels at 3/10, 5-7/10 and 8/10. NapLab places them at 4/10, 6/10 and 8/10; Sleep Foundation reports 3/10, 6/10 and 8/10. Treat those scores as guides, not a shared rating system. Plush Soft may suit lighter people and side sleepers. Luxury Firm is a middle choice across positions. Stomach sleepers and people near the upper weight range may prefer Firm. Saatva lists a limit of 300 pounds per sleeper.
Is the Saatva Classic right for your sleep position and body weight?
Your sleep position and weight affect which feel is likely to suit you; Saatva lists a limit of 300 pounds per sleeper.
Side sleepers: Plush Soft or Luxury Firm may ease pressure; Sleep Foundation scores pressure relief 8/10.
Back sleepers: Luxury Firm is a useful starting point.
Stomach sleepers: Firm may help keep the hips from sinking.
Combo sleepers: the lively surface makes it easy to change position.
Edge support is a strength. NapLab gave it 10/10, and Sleep Foundation gave it 8.5/10. That can help if you sit near the side or use the full width of the bed.
The Saatva Classic may suit back sleepers who want support, but its back-pain claims are not medical proof. Saatva points to its Lumbar Zone, a firmer area under the lower back, and an endorsement from the American Chiropractic Association. NapLab gave Luxury Firm 10/10 for pressure relief. Sleep Foundation testers liked its support for back sleepers. Back sleepers can start with Luxury Firm. Stomach sleepers can try Firm to help keep the hips from sinking. These scores and claims do not promise pain relief.
The Classic is built for airflow, and outside testers rated its cooling highly. Air passes through two coil layers, and Saatva uses an organic-cotton blend in the cover. NapLab and Sleep Foundation each gave the bed 10/10 for cooling or temperature control. The cover also has Saatva's Guardin treatment, which the brand describes as plant-oil based. There is no gel or phase-change fabric; the cool feel comes from the open coil build. Hot sleepers who dislike a foam hug may like this style.
You may feel a partner shift more than you would on a foam mattress. The comfort coils are wrapped one by one, but the Classic still has a lively, springy feel. NapLab scores its motion isolation at 7.4/10, and Sleep Foundation gives it 6.5/10. NapLab's response score is 9.9/10, which matches the easy-to-move feel. Couples who choose a Split King can reduce movement across the bed because each Twin XL lies on its own base. A light sleeper with a restless partner may prefer a bed with less bounce.
Prices vary by size, and the Classic comes in 11.5-inch or 14.5-inch heights. The table shows Mattress Nerd's September 2026 price list; Saatva listed the Queen at $2,229 on September 25, 2026. The taller version has longer coils, not a firmer feel, and may need deeper sheets. Prices can change, so check the live page before you order.
You can order the Saatva Classic from Saatva's website or by phone; the brand does not list Amazon or large mattress chains as sellers. Saatva has about 35 Viewing Rooms where shoppers can try beds, then place an order online. A third-party buying guide warns that an outside seller may not include the Saatva trial or warranty. Check the seller before paying.

The Classic has a padded top over two coil layers. From top to bottom, it has a cotton-blend cover, a 3-inch Euro pillow top, thin memory foam with Lumbar Zone stitching, 884 wrapped comfort coils with foam at the edge, and 416 steel support coils under them. Together, the two coil groups total 1,300 for a Queen. The bed comes in 11.5 and 14.5 inches. An 11.5-inch Luxury Firm Queen weighs 87 pounds. The shorter option fits standard deep-pocket sheets; the taller one may need pockets of 16 inches or more.
The cover uses organic cotton and Guardin, a treatment Saatva says uses plant oils. Saatva says its foam has the CertiPUR-US label and the full mattress has the GREENGUARD Gold label. CertiPUR-US checks foam; GREENGUARD Gold looks at gases a product gives off indoors. The brand says it adds no PFAS, a group of long-lasting chemicals, on purpose. It says any new mattress smell fades within 24 hours. NapLab gave it 10/10 for off-gassing, or smell from new materials. The foam label does not cover the fire barrier. These labels and claims do not promise health benefits.
Saatva says the Classic has no fiberglass and uses a plant-based thistle fire barrier. The brand's help pages name thistle for this model and say it uses no fiberglass in its mattresses. To check your own bed, read the sewn law tag, which lists its materials. If the tag is unclear, ask Saatva about the exact model and order.
The Classic needs a level, supportive base. Saatva allows a box spring or foundation if it is in good shape, has center support and is less than 7 years old. A platform works when slats sit less than 4 inches apart, with center support for Queen and larger. The 11.5-inch bed can go on an adjustable base; Saatva does not approve the 14.5-inch version for one. A weak base can affect a sag warranty claim.
How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?
Saatva estimates the Classic may last 10 to 15 years with normal use; this is a brand estimate, not a lab result. New materials may soften over a few days to a month, and it can take your body weeks to adjust. Rotate the mattress head to foot after 6 months, then once a year. Do not flip it, because the pillow top is on one side only.
The Saatva Classic arrives flat with free in-room setup and removal of the packaging. It is made to order, with delivery often taking 9 to 21 days. An adult needs to be home, and you can request free removal of an old mattress and foundation at checkout. The delivery crew brings the bed to your room and places it on your base.

Saatva gives Classic buyers 365 nights to try the mattress at home, starting on delivery day, with no required waiting period before a return. The brand deducts $99 from a refund to collect a return and charges $99 for a comfort exchange. Saatva arranges pickup from the home.

Saatva gives a lifetime warranty to the first buyer who bought the bed from the brand. For a covered flaw in years 1 or 2, Saatva sends a replacement. From year 3, repair and new cover work costs $149. A body dip must be deeper than 1.5 inches to count. Stains, a weak base or buying used can void the warranty. Keep your receipt and take a photo of any problem when you file a claim.
The Saatva Classic page showed 4.8/5 from 6,353 reviews. Trustpilot showed 3.5/5 from 1,375 reviews for Saatva as a whole. These scores cover different things: one is the Classic page, and one is the full brand. Buyers praise delivery and customer help. Some say Luxury Firm feels firmer than they expected. Others dislike the $99 return fee, and a few report sagging. Reviews show common themes, but your own feel may differ.
Helix Midnight Luxe may suit couples who want less partner motion. NapLab scored it 9.7/10 for motion isolation, while the Saatva Classic scored 7.4/10. For cooling, the Classic scored 10/10 in NapLab's test. Choose Helix if a partner moves often; consider Saatva if you sleep hot. Test scores can help you compare, but each sleeper may feel a bed in a different way.
Saatva was founded in 2010 and was acquired by Bedding Industries of America in November 2023. The current product page describes the Classic as a pillow top over two coil layers. Saatva lists a lifetime warranty today.
We checked Saatva product and policy pages on September 24 and 25, 2026, and used outside tests, dated price lists and owner sources checked through October 6. We did not test the mattress in person; each score stays with its source because the testers use different methods.
