Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Side sleepers can look at Utopia or Divini Luxe dialed soft for contouring pressure relief. Journey is the choice if you want a slightly firmer surface that still cushions your shoulders. Back and stomach sleepers can pick Avalon (firm) or Journey (medium-firm) for a flatter, more supportive feel. Couples with different preferences can pick Divini Luxe. It has five firmness levels per side and layers you swap at home. The older Divini has nine settings.

If you're heavy or sit on the edge, Divini Luxe has edge rails plus high-density cores. Queen builds claim 500-plus lbs per side. Hot sleepers can look at Journey's Serene Cool Flow open-cell foam, or Utopia and Divini Luxe with Dual Phase Change foam and cool-to-touch covers. For Murphy beds, slide-outs, bunks and odd shapes, any model works with custom cut, notches or a horizontal hinge. Thinner 4 to 6 inch builds fit low clearances but feel firmer because padding is reduced.

Mattress prices and value

Starting prices in September 2026 were Avalon from $308, Journey from $363, Utopia from $490 and Divini Luxe from $785. Standard-size product pages list Journey at $487 to $969, Utopia at $443 to $1,200 and the older Divini at $707 to $1,610. These sit under a sitewide 35 percent off Labor Day promotion with Sale badges. 0 percent financing is offered, and shipping is free to the contiguous US.

It's fair to good for handcrafted, made-to-order US mattresses in non-standard sizes. The alternative is an ill-fitting big-box RV replacement. It's weaker on plain standard-size value, where mainstream bed-in-a-box foam costs less before promos. Builder starting prices and product-page ranges differ, so price your exact size before you compare.

What are the mattresses made of?

Tochta uses CertiPUR-US certified high-density foams and latex, handcrafted in its own Southern California factory. Avalon has a bamboo-infused stretch-knit quilted cover with a foam and fiber quilt, a Serene cooling foam comfort layer and a high-density resilient base. Journey has a stretch-knit cover, Serene Cool Flow open-cell comfort foam, a medium-firm transitional layer and a high-density base.

Utopia has a cool-to-touch performance cover and a Dual Phase Change gel memory foam comfort layer. Below that sit a transitional layer, an R3 Neutral Core of gel-bead memory foam and a high-density base. Divini Luxe has a zippered stretch-knit cover and a quick-recovery phase-change comfort layer. It adds swappable Extra Soft to Extra Firm support layers, an edge-rail system and a high-density base. The legacy Divini has dual-zone swappable layers in soft, medium or firm, with edge support.

Across the brand, there's no fiberglass. The fire barrier is a polyester-cotton knit treated with food-grade salt, with no chemical flame retardants. Per CertiPUR-US, there's no formaldehyde, ozone depleters, heavy metals or certain flame retardants. The design is single-sided, no-flip. The brand doesn't publish cover thread counts or foam densities (checked September 2026).

How well do the mattresses hold up?

We found no independent long-term durability testing as of September 2026. Yawnder's August 2026 review scored the Utopia 8.6/10 overall, with edge support at 7.8. It called Tochta a real mattress brand for tight spaces and reported no durability failures. Structural signals look good. You get dense high-density foam cores and CertiPUR-US certification. The build is fiberglass-free with a salt-treated knit fire barrier, and queens claim 500-plus lbs per side. It's single-sided, so you rotate it twice a year. The 10-year warranty covers impressions over 1 inch.

Owner reviews raise some flags. They mention isolated seam separation in under a year, softening over months of use, and one complaint of humps where a hinged mattress was folded. Edge sink shows up on older builds. Moisture complaints under mattresses usually concern the HyPUR-Flo underlay mat, not the mattress. The brand doesn't publish sag-depth test data beyond the 1-inch warranty threshold (checked September 2026).

Customer reviews and complaints

Tochta's own Yotpo review feed shows about 1,429 reviews at 4.82/5. That's roughly 89 percent five-star, 6 percent four-star and 5 percent three-star or lower. Reviews run from 2019 through September 2026. Per-listing counts are 862 for the pooled Custom Mattress listing (4.85), 56 for Utopia queen (4.8), 21 for Divini (4.9) and 4 for Journey queen (5.0). Most custom builds are pooled under one listing, not split by model.

Praise centers on exact custom fit (hinges, notches, rounded corners), comfort upgrades over factory RV mattresses, quick build-to-door times and helpful phone staff. Complaints repeat four themes. The first is firmness misses, especially on 6 to 7 inch builds where padding is reduced. The second is return logistics. Owners often cite return shipping around $200 to $300 on odd sizes, plus awkward re-packing. The trial page says you pay return shipping, while a contact-page FAQ claims no return charges. The third is accessory gripes: rough, wrinkly sheets, a quilted protector that isn't waterproof, and the HyPUR-Flo mat sliding and condensing. The fourth is isolated quality issues, such as separating seams, a month-long smell and edge sink.

Trustpilot lists 16 reviews at 2.9/5, citing firmness and at-your-expense returns. SmartCustomer shows zero reviews. The brand doesn't publish BBB or Google business ratings (checked September 2026).

Where can you try and buy?

Buy direct only, through tochta.com. Build in the online sizing wizard or order standard sizes from product pages. For sizing help, call +1 (888) 690-1081 or email the brand. The brand doesn't publish a showroom, factory store or in-person tryout locations (checked September 2026). We found no third-party retailers or marketplace listings.

The company runs a dealer program for RV dealers and websites, with a 7 percent revenue share and branded tochta.com/dealername links. There's no public dealer locator. The only way to try a Tochta is the 100-night at-home trial.

Delivery, setup and removal

Tochta makes each mattress to order in Southern California and ships it free to contiguous US addresses. Alaska, Hawaii and Canada are by arrangement for an extra fee. The site says most mattress orders arrive in about two weeks, and custom sheets or protectors in 2 to 3 weeks. The team will move an order up the schedule for trip deadlines when possible.

Mattresses ship compressed and rolled in a box the site lists as roughly 16x16x41 inches (also stated as 17x17x42 inches), by UPS or FedEx. Delivery goes to any UPS-deliverable address, including an RV location that accepts packages. Setup is DIY. Unbox, cut away the plastic and position it black side down. It expands within minutes. There's no installation service.

Old-mattress removal isn't offered. Returns require donating to an approved charity or recycling partner with proof. You arrange and pay for that. Or you can ship the mattress back to the California facility. Tochta says it isn't responsible for removal or donation costs.

Sleep trial and returns

Every mattress, standard or custom size, has a 100-night money-back trial, limited to one return per household. Keep it at least 14 nights before you start a return (30 nights recommended). Contact the brand within 100 days of delivery. Then either donate it to an approved charity or recycling partner and send proof, or return it to the Southern California facility. Refunds go to your original payment method, usually within 7 days. You don't need to re-box it in the original carton.

Sheets, quilted protectors and HyPUR-Flo products are excluded. Wrong-size orders aren't covered as trial returns, though Tochta will re-cut or rebuild with possible extra charges. The 100 Night Trial page says you pay return shipping, while a contact-page FAQ says there are no return charges. Owner reviews cite roughly $200 to $300 for return shipping on odd sizes.

The brand doesn't publish a formal exchange program (checked September 2026). Divini Luxe and Divini use swappable layers and the Divini Luxe Comfort Revision Guarantee for firmness changes instead.

Warranty

A 10-year limited warranty covers the original purchaser only and isn't transferable. It covers manufacturing defects, including body impressions greater than 1 inch and foam splitting or cracking under normal use. The mattress cover has a separate 1-year warranty against material or workmanship faults.

Claims go through customer service by email. Tochta repairs or replaces at its discretion within 5 working days once it receives the mattress. It covers shipping of the repaired or replacement mattress back to you, but you pay return shipping to the Southern California facility. It excludes normal softening and loss of recovery, improper foundations or supports, and jumping or dragging damage. Loose threads, removed law tags and mattresses left compressed more than 60 days are excluded too. Stains void the warranty, and you need proof of original purchase. Use a firm solid-surface or adjustable base. Rotate twice a year, and never flip it.

Tochta vs. other brands

Against American RV Mattress, Tochta wins on trial length (100 versus 60 nights) and dual-zone adjustable firmness. It loses on promo price floor ($308 versus $276) and latex-hybrid flagship breadth. Against Adventure RV Mattress, Tochta wins on in-home firmness adjustment and layer-swap customization. It loses on trial length (100 versus 365 nights). Against Mattress Insider, Tochta wins on its factory-direct handcrafted story and cooling layer tech. It loses on model breadth and catalog size. Against Comfort RV, Tochta wins on dual-firmness systems and custom shapes. It loses on lower starting prices and a simpler lineup.

Against Dynasty and marketplace RV brands, Tochta wins on true custom cuts, hinges and CertiPUR-US certification. It loses on marketplace convenience and entry pricing. Against mainstream bed-in-a-box foam brands, Tochta wins on genuine custom sizes and RV, van and truck focus. It loses on showroom tryouts, free and frictionless returns and longer promotional trials. Mainstream brands also publish fuller layer specs. Against custom home-mattress shops, Tochta wins on RV heritage, hinge engineering and its moisture-accessory range. It loses on home-size assortment breadth.
