The 30-second verdict
The Plank Firm Luxe suits back and stomach sleepers who want a very firm, flippable hybrid with a springy coil feel. Side sleepers who need more cushioning at the shoulders and hips may find both sides too hard. The catch is that its two feels are both very firm, and returns can start after night 30, with no return fee.
Best forBack and stomach sleepers who want a firm, springy bed
Not ideal forSide sleepers who need softer shoulder and hip cushioning
Plank Firm Luxe
- Two firm sides. Flip the mattress to switch between a Firm side and an Extra Firm side.
- Coil bounce. The encased coil core adds a springy feel beneath the foam.
- Optional cool cover. You can add a GlacioTex cooling cover when ordering.
- Too firm for some. Side sleepers who need more cushion at the shoulders and hips may find both sides too hard.
- Heavy Queen. The Queen weighs about 100 pounds, so flipping it may take help.
- 30-night wait. Returns can start after night 30, but there is no return fee.
Brooklyn Bedding calls the sides Firm and Extra Firm. The Firm side rates 7.5 to 8 out of 10 and the Extra Firm side 9.5 to 10. Start on Firm if you are unsure, but both choices feel very firm. This bed is a poor match if you want a soft top or deep sink-in. Use the trial to compare both sides, keeping in mind that returns cannot start until night 30.

Back and stomach sleepers who like a very firm bed are the clearest fit. Heavier sleepers may also like this bed, while combination sleepers may like the response from its coil layer. Side sleepers may feel pressure at the hips and shoulders, and lighter sleepers can find the feel too hard. The brand's product FAQ says up to 950 pounds per mattress, but it does not split that limit by sleeper or size. Check your own comfort needs before buying.

The Plank Firm Luxe may suit people who prefer a firm, flat feel, but it is not a treatment for back pain. Some owners report back-pain relief. The mattress has a supportive surface with coil pushback. Those reports do not show that the mattress will ease pain for everyone. If you need cushioning at your hips or shoulders, either side may feel too hard. Pick it for the feel you want, not on a promise of pain relief.

The Plank Firm Luxe has a 6-inch coil unit and an optional GlacioTex cover. Brooklyn Bedding describes it as a cooler design than the all-foam Plank. GlacioTex is an add-on, so check whether it is selected and what it costs on the order page. Treat the cooling claims as a design feature, not a measured result.

Motion control is described as good for a hybrid. Its individually encased coils and firm surface may limit some partner movement, while the springs still add bounce. Couples who both want a firm feel may do well. If one of you wakes easily, decide whether some movement is acceptable before choosing it. The trial gives you a way to learn how it feels at home.

Plank Firm Luxe is 13 inches tall and can be flipped to change its feel. Its build uses quilted covers, foam layers and a 6-inch unit of individually encased Ascension Firm coils. The Queen weighs about 100 pounds, so flipping it may take help. Use sheets made for a 13-inch mattress and check the pocket depth before buying. No weight is listed for other sizes.

Brooklyn Bedding says the Plank Firm Luxe is fiberglass free. That is a brand statement, not a lab result for this model. To check the mattress you receive, read the sewn law tag and look for the listed fire-barrier material. Keep the tag with your receipt in case you need to ask the maker about the bed.

The Plank Firm Luxe needs a solid-support base. It lists a solid platform, a non-flexing box foundation, or slats no more than 5 inches apart, and says the mattress works with an adjustable base. The spacing rule matters if your bed frame uses widely spaced slats. Measure the gaps and check that the frame does not bend before you set the mattress on it.

Brooklyn Bedding does not publish a lifespan estimate for this model. The bed is flippable, so you can switch between Firm and Extra Firm and turn it over to spread wear. Brooklyn Bedding estimates a 30 to 45-night break-in period. That is the time the mattress may take to adjust. The 365-night trial is a separate policy. Rotate the bed as well. Use the maker's instructions for your base and care.

The Plank Firm Luxe ships by FedEx Ground in a box. Shipping is free in the lower 48 states. Product pages say it ships in 5 to 8 business days. The Shipping Policy says 5 to 7 days to ship, with 7 to 10 days for production. A help page says transit takes about 2 to 5 business days after it ships. There is no in-home setup. California buyers can opt in to free old mattress pickup.

The Plank Firm Luxe comes with a 365-night trial from delivery, with no return fee. Returns can start after night 30, and the policy allows one trial per customer. This gives you time to test both sides, but you cannot send the mattress back in the first month. Check the current return policy for any exceptions before you order.

Brooklyn Bedding gives the Plank Firm Luxe its Limited Lifetime Warranty for purchases after February 1, 2025. The policy covers repairs or a new mattress at no cost for the first 10 years. A body dip of 1.5 inches counts as a defect. After year 10, the owner pays part of the current retail price. Read the full policy for what it leaves out and how to file a claim.

As of October 6, 2026, the Brooklyn Bedding product page showed 4.56 out of 5 from 3,253 owner reviews. Owners praise firmness, support, cooling and quality. Complaints mention a feel that is too firm, delivery, odor and an uneven feel. These posts reflect those buyers, not every sleeper. Use them to spot trade-offs, then see how the two sides feel during your trial.

The Plank Firm Luxe is the hybrid alternative to the all-foam Plank Firm, its closest sibling in the same line. The Luxe adds an encased coil layer while keeping two firm sides you can flip. Choose it if you want springs under the foam; choose the all-foam Plank Firm if you want a foam-only build.
