The 30-second verdict
Buy the Plank Firm if you sleep on your back or stomach and want a flat, very firm foam bed that you can flip for a harder feel. Side sleepers who need give at the shoulder or hip should skip it. The main catch is the very hard feel and the 30-night wait before a return.
Best forBack and stomach sleepers seeking a very firm foam bed
Not ideal forSide sleepers seeking deep shoulder and hip cushioning
Plank Firm
- Two firm sides. Flip the bed to choose Firm or Ultra Firm.
- Strong flat support. Its stiff feel can suit back and stomach sleepers who dislike sink.
- Foam cuts motion. The foam build helps limit movement felt from a partner.
- Long home trial. Brooklyn Bedding gives direct buyers a 365-night trial from delivery.
- Little soft give. Most side sleepers will need more cushion at the hip and shoulder.
- Wait to return. You must keep the mattress through night 30 before starting a return.
- No setup crew. The boxed bed arrives at your door for you to set up.
- Heat may linger. An all foam build has less open space for air than a coil bed.
The Plank Firm has two very hard feels, so start with the Firm side and flip it only if that still feels too soft. Firm rates 7.5 to 9 out of 10; Ultra Firm rates 9.5 to 10.5 out of 10. Brooklyn Bedding calls the faces Firm and Ultra Firm. Those are feel ratings, not a promise that every body will feel the same thing.
The Firm face gives a bit more foam give. Ultra Firm aims for a flatter, stiffer surface. If you want a soft hug or deep sink, neither face is likely to suit you.

The Plank Firm is most likely to suit back and stomach sleepers who like a very stiff bed. Side sleepers may feel too much force at the shoulder and hip, even on the softer Firm face. A person who shifts positions should judge the bed by the position that needs the most cushion.
Body weight changes how far foam gives; Brooklyn Bedding gives no weight cutoff for comfort on this model. Brooklyn Bedding's general product FAQ says its mattresses support up to 950 pounds per bed. That is a load claim, not a promise of comfort. Sleep Foundation rated edge support 8 out of 10 in a review that did not name the tested version.

The Plank Firm may help a back or stomach sleeper who feels their hips sink too far on a softer bed, but it is not a treatment for back pain. Its firm surface gives little deep cushion. That can feel steady for some people and harsh for someone who needs relief at the hips or shoulders.
Sleep Foundation gave pressure relief 6.5 out of 10 in a Plank Firm review, though the tested version was not stated. If pain gets worse when you lie on a hard surface, do not treat a high firmness score as proof that this bed will help. Try the Firm face first.

The Plank Firm can feel warm to a hot sleeper because its foam core has no open coil space for air to pass through. The hard surface may keep some people from sinking deeply, yet that does not make it a cool bed for everyone. Sleep Foundation scored temperature control 7.5 out of 10 for a Plank Firm version it did not name.
Brooklyn Bedding offers an optional GlacioTex cooling cover on the product page. That cover may change the first touch. It may not fix overnight heat for every sleeper. If heat wakes you often, compare its feel with a coil bed before choosing.

You should feel less of a partner's small moves on the Plank Firm than on a springy coil bed, but a restless partner may still wake a light sleeper. Foam takes in some motion before it crosses the mattress. Sleep Foundation gave motion isolation 7.5 out of 10 in its Plank Firm review, with the tested version left unstated.
The bed is very firm, so turning over may feel easy even though it has no coils. If you are highly sensitive to movement, ask to try the bed together where possible. The score does not show how it will feel with your partner at home.

The Plank Firm makes sense for a buyer who wants an unusually hard bed with two usable faces. The basic Queen lists at $1,332, with a $999 sale price as of October 7, 2026. The list figure is Brooklyn Bedding's suggested retail price, not proof it sold at that price before. Prices can change, so compare the live price and cover choice at checkout.
The Plank Firm is listed in sizes from Twin through California King, plus RV sizes. The current product page gives the height as 10 inches. Use that figure when planning for sheets, but check the exact bed you order if fit is tight.

You can buy the Plank Firm from Brooklyn Bedding's own site. The brand lists showrooms in Arizona and partner stores elsewhere. Call ahead to ask whether a location has the Plank Firm to try.
Check who actually sells the bed and read that seller's trial terms before paying. A showroom purchase goes back through that showroom for a return, so keep your receipt and ask about its process there.

The Plank Firm is a flippable all foam bed with no coils. Brooklyn Bedding's layer list starts at the Ultra Firm face with a quilted panel, then high density base foam, a response foam layer, and a quilted Firm face. You can add the brand's GlacioTex cover to the faces. The response foam sits closer to you when the Firm face is up, which helps explain the change in feel.
The mattress is 10 inches tall. Brooklyn Bedding lists the foam layers but not the density of each one. Mattress Nerd lists a Queen at about 75 pounds. That weight is useful when you plan to flip or move the bed, but it may vary by cover choice.

The Plank Firm uses quilted fabric and foam on both sides. Brooklyn Bedding says its foam is CertiPUR-US certified, and the certifier lists Brooklyn Bedding as a retailer. That label covers foam, not the whole mattress or its fire barrier. The brand also says its mattresses meet GREENGUARD Gold rules, but no certifier listing for this model was checked.

Brooklyn Bedding says its mattresses are fiberglass free, but that is a brand statement rather than a lab test of this Plank Firm. Its help article says the brand may use fire resistant fabric sewn into the panels or a fire sock with hydrated silica, rayon and polyester. It does not say which of those sits in this exact model.
Read the sewn tag on the bed you receive and ask Brooklyn Bedding to name the barrier for your exact version if this is a key concern. Keep the cover on as the warranty requires.

Sleep Foundation expects the Plank Firm to last at least 6 to 7 years. That is an outside estimate, not a promise of how long your own bed will stay comfortable. Its review did not name the tested version, and long use depends on the sleeper, base and care.
You can flip this mattress because both faces are meant for sleep. Flipping also lets you try the other feel. Brooklyn Bedding says a new mattress may take 30 to 45 nights to break in. Give the Firm side time before deciding whether the harder face suits you.

The Plank Firm ships compressed in a box by FedEx. Brooklyn Bedding offers free ground shipping to the lower 48 states, and the box comes to your door for you to open and set up. The brand does not include a setup crew. Its pages give different ship and production times, so do not plan around one exact delivery window.
Old bed removal is usually unavailable. For California deliveries, the brand says you can opt into free removal. Ask for that service before delivery if it applies to you.

A Plank Firm bought under Brooklyn Bedding's direct terms has a 365-night trial from delivery. You must sleep on it through night 30 before starting a return. Brooklyn Bedding gives risk-free returns with no return fee, and the brand arranges pickup.
The policy allows one trial per customer. Clearance and final sale items cannot be returned. A showroom or other seller may have its own process, so read the terms for the place where you buy. Keep your order details and contact the seller before the trial ends.

Brooklyn Bedding's Limited Lifetime Warranty covers a Plank Firm bought after February 1, 2025, by its first owner. For a covered flaw, there is no charge in years 1 through 10. After year 10, costs are prorated. It covers body dips deeper than 1.5 inches, but not normal softening.
Slats more than 5 inches apart, stains, liquid damage, or removing the cover can end coverage. Keep proof of purchase and contact the seller to make a claim. Older purchases may have different terms.

The Plank Firm page showed 4.67 out of 5 from 4,124 owner reviews on September 26, 2026. Brooklyn Bedding runs that widget, and the count may include older versions. The reviews are not grouped into praise and complaint themes, so the score is not a full read of owner comments.
Outside reviews point to the same tradeoff: firm, flat support may suit some, but many side sleepers may want more give. Trustpilot rated Brooklyn Bedding 4.6 out of 5 from 207 company reviews. This score is for the company, not this mattress. Trustpilot's profile says the company has not invited reviewers recently.

The Plank Firm is the stiffer choice if you compare it with Brooklyn Bedding's Signature Hybrid in Firm. Plank gives you two hard foam faces and no coils. The Signature Hybrid has a coil build and several feel choices, so it may be a gentler first try for someone who is unsure about an extra firm bed.
The current versions were not shown as tested side by side. Pick Plank when a flat, very firm surface is the goal. Try the Signature Hybrid when you want more spring and a wider choice of feel.

The brand's launch notice dates the original Plank to 2019. An older product capture called it Plank, while the current page calls it Plank Firm. Both are shown as flippable foam beds. The current build's history is unclear, and no exact layer change is named.
That means an older owner's review may describe a different bed. Check the model name and build when you compare past reviews with a new order. Warranty terms also changed for mattresses bought after February 1, 2025, so use the policy tied to your purchase date.

We used Brooklyn Bedding's product and policy pages, outside mattress reviews, and the brand's owner review count. The brand facts were checked in September 2026, the selected research rows in October 2026, and the registry on October 7, 2026. We did not test this mattress ourselves.
We could not find enough good evidence to answer these questions yet, so this page leaves them out: Bed Base.
