The best mattress stores in and near Concord, North Carolina

Updated October 18, 2026 · 14 stores, each checked against its own website

The best mattress stores in and near Concord are Rooms To Go West, Havertys Northwest and Mattress Firm West. We rank stores by how many mattress brands you can try in person, then by how many of their delivery, old-bed removal and return policies they post, counting one location per chain. We checked 14 stores within 8 miles of central Concord, and no store pays to be listed.

  1. Rooms To Go West: 12 brands to try, including Tempur-Pedic, Stearns & Foster and Sealy. West Concord, 5.1 mi; old-bed removal offered.
  2. Havertys Northwest: 6 brands to try, including Tempur-Pedic, Stearns & Foster and Sealy. Northwest Concord, 2.9 mi; old-bed removal offered, publishes a return policy.
  3. Mattress Firm West: 5 brands to try, including Tempur-Pedic, Stearns & Foster and Purple. West Concord, 5.3 mi, open Sunday; old-bed removal offered.

A few minutes on a showroom bed will not tell you how it feels after a month at home. Pick a bed you trust from a store whose exchange and return policy you can live with: only 4 of the 14 stores here post a policy that lets you return a bed.

Buying a mattress in Concord: local rules and tips

Getting rid of your old mattress

"Bulky Waste is a bi-weekly service. It is picked up on your regularly scheduled recycling collection day. ... Mattresses and box springs should be wrapped in plastic to promote health and safety, as well as protect against possible contaminants such as bed bugs, etc. While this practice is currently optional, it is strongly encouraged." See the full rules and how to schedule on the source page.

Source: City of Concord - Bulky Waste, checked October 18, 2026.

Sales tax on a mattress

Cabarrus County sales tax is 7.00% (4.75% state plus local), so a $1,000 mattress costs $70 in tax. Stores in nearby counties may charge a different rate.

Source: North Carolina Department of Revenue, current sales and use tax rates by county, checked October 18, 2026.

How to test a bed in the store

Lie down in the position you sleep in. Bring your own pillow. Ask for the exact model name on paper so you can compare it with other stores.
