YachtBedding Mattress Review

YachtBedding.com is a yacht and boat mattress specialist, not a home mattress brand. It's a marine-only, made-to-order operation. Its five boat mattresses run from the $895 Captain Hybrid to the $3,195 to $3,595 organic Hayval, each cut to fit a specific vessel berth. You get a shape that fits your berth. But there's no sleep trial, no returns and no published warranty. If you want a custom marine mattress and accept custom-order terms, it's one of the widest selections in that niche.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Your choice depends on how plush you want to sleep and whether chemical-free materials matter. Side sleepers and anyone who wants a soft, hotel-like bed should look at the Admiral 9 in Pillow Top. The slimmer Commodore Supreme 7 in Pillowtop fits too. Both have medium latex cores and 2 inch ultra-soft latex pillow tops.

Back and stomach sleepers who want firmer support have the least choice. The Commodore is the only model with a stated firmness range, Soft, Medium Firm and Firm. The Captain, Admiral, Commodore Supreme and Hayval are described only as plush, extra plush or medium-core latex. Budget berths, guest cabins and crew quarters suit the Captain 6 in Hybrid.

If you sleep hot, want to avoid polyurethane foams and chemical fire retardants, or prefer wool and organic latex, look at the Hayval. It uses wool as a natural fire barrier and for temperature control. The brand doesn't publish split firmness for couples. Size depends on berth width, not standard mattress dimensions.

Mattress prices and value

Prices run from $895 to $3,595 per mattress, and the tier depends on berth width, not a standard size. Small is up to 38 inches wide, Medium is 39 to 60 inches, and Large is over 61 inches. The Captain 6 in Hybrid is $895 Small, $1,395 Medium and $1,795 Large, in latex or memory foam. An optional mattress template kit is $20. The Commodore 7 in Latex is $1,095, $1,795 and $2,195.

The Commodore Supreme 7 in Pillowtop is $1,195, $1,995 and $2,395 in latex, and $1,297, $2,195 and $2,595 in gel memory foam. The Admiral 9 in Pillow Top is $1,297, $2,195 and $2,595 in latex, and $1,397, $2,395 and $2,795 in gel memory foam. The Hayval is $3,195 Medium and $3,595 Large. The headlines show entry prices of $895, $1,095, $1,195, $1,297 and $3,195. A typical 39 to 60 inch berth usually costs $1,395 to $2,395.

You pay for custom fit and marine materials, not volume pricing. A mainstream brand at similar money gets you a standard size with a sleep trial and a warranty. Extras add up. Mattress protectors are $150 to $225 and toppers are $575 to $775. The product pages warn that shipping is an estimate based on the west coast. You'll most likely pay an extra charge quoted from your location, plus an XL upcharge over 76 inches wide by 80 inches long.

What are the mattresses made of?

These are layered foam and natural fiber, not springs. The Captain has a 3 inch high-density polyurethane foam base plus 2 inches of soft latex, in plush bamboo quilting. The Commodore has a 6 inch latex core with ultra-soft bamboo quilting. The brand says latex is mold and mildew resistant, breathable, heat regulating and odor resistant.

The Commodore Supreme has a 4 inch medium latex core plus a 2 inch ultra-soft latex pillow top, and you can get it in gel memory foam. The Admiral has a 6 inch medium latex core plus a 2 inch ultra-soft latex pillow top, with a gel memory foam alternative.

The Hayval has a proprietary layered 6 inch organic latex base plus a 2 inch extra plush natural Talalay Eurotop. It's covered in certified organic cotton and quilted with natural cotton and New Zealand Joma wool. The brand says it's free of polyurethane foams and chemical fire retardants, and as close to 100 percent organic as possible. The wool is an antimicrobial, temperature-regulating fire barrier.

Every model is made custom to the berth, and you can add a hinge at no extra cost for under-berth storage. The brand doesn't publish foam densities, ILD numbers or certifications beyond the Hayval organic cotton claim.

How well do the mattresses hold up?

The brand publishes little hard evidence. It doesn't publish durability testing, density or ILD data, sag or aging results, an expected lifespan or a warranty period. Its claims are qualitative. Latex is mold, mildew and odor resistant and heat regulating. Each mattress is crafted custom in California to stand up to the rigors of a marine environment. Marine conditions are hard on foam, so the missing specs and warranty are the main question mark.

The most concrete evidence is testimonials. Larry on a Prestige 460 Fly wrote that he bought a mattress about four years earlier and ordered another for a larger boat. Norman on a Mochi Craft 51 wrote that he's bought five mattresses from the brand. We found no independent long-term test or failure report (checked September 2026).

Customer reviews and complaints

The site publishes no star ratings for the mattresses, and the product pages show no customer reviews. The only review block on the Hayval page says There are no reviews yet, and it's attached to the Mattress Pad Cover add-on. The brand keeps a Testimonials page of named, brand-picked quotes that mostly praise bedding, service and toppers. Barbara on a Ranger Tugs 31 loves her mattress topper. Barb on a Boston Whaler 325 Conquest wrote that the mattress is perfection. Larry described a repeat purchase delivered and installed while he was away. Norman said he's bought five mattresses across two boats, and dealer Barrett of South Coast Yachts recommends the brand.

We found no mattress complaints or defect reports. SiteJabber lists the business with 0 reviews, and we found no Yelp, Google, Trustpilot or BBB rating profile (checked September 2026). So there's no independent score either way.

Where can you try and buy?

You can try mattresses at the brand's showrooms, which stock lay-down samples. San Diego is at Safe Harbor Sunroad Marina, 955 Harbor Island Drive Suite 135, 619-550-4406. The Huntington Beach factory showroom is at 16651 Gothard St Unit E, 714-332-6344. Pompano Beach, Florida is at 229 South Federal Highway, 954-256-7976, by appointment only. Bellingham, Washington is at 1325 Roeder Ave Suite 103 inside Northwest Power Diesel, by appointment.

Hours vary, so call first. The San Diego showroom lists 10am to 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 10am to 3:30pm Saturday. It's closed Wednesday and Sunday. Buy online at yachtbedding.com, by phone at 800-688-3819, or by email at info@yachtbedding.com. If you're not near a showroom, you can book a Virtual Design Appointment by Zoom or FaceTime.

The Hayval page says you can test it at the Huntington Beach, San Diego and Pompano Beach showrooms. A blog post on an installed Hayval says showrooms feature lay-down samples plus fabric options from Sferra, Matouk and Thibaut. The boat show schedule page still lists 2020 events, so confirm current shows by phone.

Delivery, setup and removal

Delivery depends on where you are. In Southern California the YachtBedding team delivers to your boat. For the Hayval, that includes free haul-away of your old mattress, the only old-mattress removal described on the site. Outside Southern California, the mattress ships to the location you choose. Most are roll-packed for FedEx, and extra-large ones go by freight. International orders ship via FedEx with duties paid by you. The brand doesn't publish a setup service or paid removal for non-local buyers, so plan to unpack and remove the old one yourself.

Lead times vary across the site. The FAQ says typically 3 to 4 weeks to ship, and How to Order says about 6 weeks. Terms and Conditions says 4 to 6 weeks and Customer Care says approximately 3 weeks. Confirm timing for your order.

Shipping isn't a fixed online cost. The product pages say the estimate is based on the west coast. An extra charge will most likely be added when the order is ready. Tell the brand your location to get a total. Template kits ship separately in 2 to 3 days, and swatches in 3 to 5 days.

Sleep trial and returns

There's no sleep trial, and no return, exchange or restocking path. The Terms and Conditions page says all items are custom made for each order and can't be returned or exchanged. The Customer Care page and How to Order repeat it. Once a mattress is built, you own it. The brand publishes no return-shipping, restocking or exchange fees, since it takes no returns.

The only remedies are for transit damage. Photograph any damage and tell the brand right away. For freight shipments, note the damage on the driver paperwork before the driver leaves. The FAQ says phone orders use a credit card authorization form for a 50 percent deposit and the balance. Confirm cancellation terms before production in writing. Treat a purchase as final, and get your measurements, template and fabric choices right the first time.

Warranty

The brand doesn't publish a warranty (checked September 2026). A site search for warranty returns nothing. None of the five product pages states a warranty period, coverage or exclusions. Neither do the FAQ, How to Order, Terms and Conditions, Customer Care, Shipping or About pages.

The only protection described is the transit-damage procedure in the Terms and Conditions. There's no stated coverage for sagging, delamination, foam breakdown or manufacturing defects, and no registration step. If warranty protection matters to you, ask YachtBedding for written terms before you order. Keep the answer with your order paperwork.

YachtBedding vs. other brands

The brand doesn't publish head-to-head comparisons with other mattress brands, so this is positioning, not a tested matchup. YachtBedding.com is a marine specialist. It sells five custom boat mattresses plus toppers, protectors and yacht bedding, all built to a specific berth.

Against mainstream home mattress brands, the differences are structural. You get no standard sizes, no sleep trial, no returns or exchanges and no published warranty. You'll use small appointment-based showrooms and virtual consultations. Shipping is quoted per location, not free or flat-rate. Against other ways to replace a boat mattress, it competes with factory OEM mattresses, local marine upholsterers and DIY topper fixes. The brand pitches a fitted custom mattress plus a hinge for storage over squeezing a standard mattress or topper into a shaped berth.

Price is premium for the category. It's $895 to $2,795 for latex, hybrid and gel memory foam builds, and $3,195 to $3,595 for the organic Hayval. That overlaps with high-end home organic latex pricing but adds custom marine fit.

How we put this review together

We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.

Quick answers before you buy

Are these mattresses for homes?

No. This is a yacht and boat specialty brand. All five mattresses are custom made to fit a specific vessel berth, so there's no standard home size.

Can I try one before buying?

Yes, at showrooms with lay-down samples in Huntington Beach and San Diego, California, Pompano Beach, Florida and Bellingham, Washington. You can also book a virtual appointment. Visits are by appointment, so call first.

Is there a sleep trial, and can I return a mattress?

No sleep trial. Returns and exchanges aren't permitted because every mattress is custom made, so the purchase is final.

How much does a mattress cost?

Entry prices start at $895 for the Captain and $1,095 for the Commodore. The Hayval runs $3,195 to $3,595. Medium and large berths generally land between $1,395 and $2,795.

Will they remove my old boat mattress?

In Southern California the brand team delivers, and the Hayval page promises free haul-away of your old mattress. Outside that area, removal isn't published.

Do I have to measure my own berth, and how long will it take to ship?

You measure unless you're in Southern California or Florida and book an appointment. You use the brand's place-and-trace system or a $20 template kit. Published lead times range from about 3 weeks to 6 weeks depending on the page, so confirm when you order.
