United States Watermattress Review
United States Watermattress is a Baltimore, Maryland wholesale specialist. It has built only hardside waterbed, softside waterbed and airbed systems since 1983. It sells through dealers, distributors and private-label programs, not direct. Hardsides run from Full Motion through 7 Layer w Lumbar. They use heavy duty black vinyl, DuPont fiber layers and a lifetime limited warranty. The brand doesn't publish prices, trials or consumer reviews. Which mattress suits your sleep needs?
Choose by motion and support. If you like full motion, take the Full Motion hardside. The 1 to 3 Layer models give light motion control. The 4 and 5 Layer are near-waveless. The 6 and 7 Layer w Lumbar give maximum stability plus back and lumbar support. They're the best hardside picks for back sleepers and for couples who dislike wave transfer.
Combination sleepers and couples who want separate feel can step up to dual softside mattresses or the dual-chamber airbeds. There you set firmness per side by digital pump, with memory set points. If you want a water feel inside a conventional-looking bed, pick softsides in 4, 6 or 8 inch fill depths. Side sleepers get no published comfort guidance beyond lumbar support on the top two hardsides.
It's a poor fit if you want a memory foam, latex or innerspring feel. It's also a poor fit if you want a bed-in-a-box you sleep on the same day. The brand doesn't publish firmness levels, ILD numbers or size charts (checked September 2026).
Mattress prices and value
The brand doesn't publish prices (checked September 2026). There's no MSRP list, cart or dealer price sheet on watermattress.com. It sells wholesale through a direct sales team, selected retailers, distributors, resellers and OEMs. Whoever resells the bed sets the value. The only current retail evidence is My Waterbed Shop. It names United States Watermattress among the premier brands it carries and advertises free shipping in the continental 48 states. It posts no USW model listings or prices.
For context only, that retailer sells other US-made hardside bladders from about $149 for free flow to $529 for dual waveless. It also sells 22 mil full motion bladders at $189.95. Those listings aren't attributed to United States Watermattress, so don't treat them as its prices. Hardside waterbeds are a niche category. Gather quotes from InnoMax, Sterling Sleep Systems, Waterbed Doctor house-brand bladders and local waterbed dealers before you buy.
What are the mattresses made of?
Published hardside construction includes heavy duty black waterbed vinyl and a Trimilate Dura Heat black bottom for heat transfer. Each fiber layer has 1.2 oz of DuPont fiber. The mattresses are overcut to release pressure on the seams, with L-corner construction. The seam sits on the bottom, recessed 2 inches. Corners are reinforced to 2 1/2 inches. A Lifetime Limited Warranty covers them.
The brand doesn't publish vinyl thickness in mil, the vinyl compound or supplier, or what fill the lumbar versions use (checked September 2026). It doesn't say whether a safety liner, heater and fill kit are included. Softside spec sheets add anti-microbial treated fabric, Holofill fiber, 1 oz FR fiber and 1 inch comfort foam on the Signature system.
Airbed covers use bamboo tack and jump removable tops, anti-microbial treated fabric, 1 oz Holofill fiber, 1 inch foam and 1 oz FR fiber. Depending on the model they add 2 inch convoluted foam, 2 inch memory foam or 2 inch latex, with vulcanized rubber dual air chambers. The directory beds.org notes the company makes only waterbeds and airbeds. The brand doesn't publish certifications such as CertiPUR-US, Greenguard or OEKO-TEX.
How well do the mattresses hold up?
The only durability claim the brand publishes is the Lifetime Limited Warranty. It covers every hardside mattress. Airbed and softside systems carry the same lifetime limited warranty, pro-rated at 50% MSRP. The build targets classic waterbed failure points. Overcut bladders and L-corner construction relieve seam stress. The seam is recessed 2 inches on the bottom, corners are reinforced to 2 1/2 inches, and the vinyl is heavy duty black.
The hardside line has been sold essentially unchanged since at least the 2012 site build. The same DuPont fiber layer spec is still live in September 2026. That's a positive continuity signal, and the brand has supplied the trade since 1983.
However, we found no vinyl mil thickness, puncture or abrasion test data, burst or sag statistics, independent lab testing or owner longevity reports. The directory beds.org shows zero owner reviews. The brand doesn't publish real-world failure rates. Confirm the mil rating, heater and liner compatibility and coverage terms with your dealer.
Customer reviews and complaints
We found no consumer reviews, star ratings, complaint threads or owner discussions for United States Watermattress (checked September 2026). The independent directory beds.org profiles the brand at 0 of 5 stars from 0 reviews. Its three USW pages for hardside, softside and airbeds each show 0 customer reviews.
The company is a wholesale maker that sells through dealers, so consumer feedback sits with individual retailers. Several retailers that once carried the line are no longer online. Yelp, Trustpilot, Reddit, Better Business Bureau, Yellow Pages and marketplace pages wouldn't load for us. So we can't confirm that complaints are absent there. Treat review and complaint coverage as unavailable.
Where can you try and buy?
United States Watermattress doesn't sell direct, so you can't buy or try a bed on its own site. Watermattress.com is a wholesale catalog for retailers, distributors, resellers and OEMs, and it offers private-label programs. To find a dealer, call 1-800-USA-1010 (1-800-872-1010) or the office at 1-443-709-0902. You can also email im [at} watermattress [dot] com. The factory is at 1700 Morrell Park Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21230. The brand doesn't publish a consumer showroom or factory store.
The directory beds.org names The Waterbed Doctor, ABC Waterbed Outlet, Wayfair and Waterbeds Today as retailers. As of September 2026, ABC Waterbed Outlet's domain doesn't resolve. Waterbeds Today's domain resolves to an expired parking host. The Waterbed Doctor's hardside pages sell its own house-brand bladders, with no USW mention. Wayfair blocks automated checks. My Waterbed Shop (1-800-428-7083) names United States Watermattress among its brands. We found no USW model listings or trial showroom there. Confirm dealer availability by phone.
Delivery, setup and removal
The manufacturer site doesn't publish shipping, freight, lead-time, setup or old-mattress-removal policies (checked September 2026). Its About Us page only says products ship from the Baltimore factory by trucks, cargo ships, UPS and FedEx. Because the brand sells wholesale, your dealer sets delivery and setup terms.
For reference, My Waterbed Shop advertises free shipping to the 48 states. It lists US Postal Service priority mail, with surcharges for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Canada. It also lists same-day or next-day dispatch and 3 to 5 business day parcel delivery. A complete bed arrives inside about a week, and a local agent calls to book a time window. Rural surcharges may apply. Waterbed setup is also unpublished. That covers decking, liner and heater installation, filling, conditioning and haul-away of an old waterbed.
Sleep trial and returns
The brand doesn't publish a sleep trial, trial-night count, return or exchange window, restocking fee or comfort guarantee (checked September 2026). There's no direct-to-consumer checkout that would carry one. Ask the dealer for written terms before you order. Waterbed returns are usually restrictive.
For example, My Waterbed Shop states that once a bedroom-set or oak furniture order ships, there's no refund to credit card or PayPal. Shortages or damage must be noted on the delivery receipt while the driver is present. Signing the receipt in good condition waives later workmanship or defect claims. Its parcel items follow a separate posted return page. The brand doesn't say whether that retailer applies similar terms to United States Watermattress bladders.
Warranty
The hardside family carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty. It's listed as a key feature on every hardside page, with no further detail. Airbed and softside systems state Lifetime Limited Warranty, Lifetime Pro-rated at 50% MSRP. That means coverage follows a proration schedule tied to half of the suggested retail price. The brand doesn't publish a schedule of years or percentages.
The brand doesn't publish the full warranty document (checked September 2026). It doesn't define lifetime, such as original owner versus product life. It doesn't list exclusions like stains, misuse, improper support or comfort preference, or sag and burst thresholds. It doesn't say whether the heater, liner, pump, bladder and cover carry separate terms. Claim steps, registration requirements and who pays claim shipping are also missing. Request the written warranty from your dealer before you buy, and keep the receipt. Claims are normally handled through the seller.
United States Watermattress vs. other brands
Against InnoMax, both are American waterbed and airbed specialists with hardside, softside and air families and lifetime-limited coverage. InnoMax publishes prices, dozens of models and a direct online store. United States Watermattress stays wholesale with no pricing, trial or direct sales. Sterling Sleep Systems publishes complete softside waterbed kits, hospitality beds and Talalay latex with prices. It has a 100-day return window on innerspring and latex. USW offers a deeper hardside layer ladder but far less transparency.
Retail house brands such as Waterbed Doctor publish mil thickness, waveless percentages and dollar prices. They're easier to compare and buy online. USW competes on dealer relationships, OEM supply and made-in-USA production. It isn't a rival to Sleep Number, Tempur-Pedic, Saatva or Avocado for conventional foam, hybrid or latex mattresses. It has no bed-in-a-box, no trial and no broad retail footprint. We found no independent head-to-head test data on USW against any competitor.
How we put this review together
We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
