Ultrabed Mattress Review

Ultrabed is the house brand of a family-run showroom and factory in Agoura Hills, California. It was formerly Selectabed and is a division of Relief-Mart. It sells its own foam and pillow-top beds next to dozens of other brands. The Original Series runs about $497 to $997 on sale, with a 120-night trial and an 18-year warranty. You'll do best if you can visit the showroom. The web store isn't open yet, and the independent scores you'd want are member-only.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Back sleepers can look at the extra-firm Original, Flex-Tech Adjust Series 1 or 2, or Tri-Pedic Gold. Side sleepers have the Extreme, Elite, Adjust Series 4 or 5, Tri-Pedic Diamond and Memory Zone Deluxe. Stomach sleepers get firmness without hammocking from the Original, Deluxe or Tri-Pedic Gold. Combination sleepers can try the Deluxe or Adjust Series 3.

Foam-only builds remove coil motion transfer, and split king or split-top builds give couples independent firmness. Heavier sleepers get the sturdiest builds from the HR polyurethane bases and 5 lb memory foam on the Elite and Tri-Pedic. The brand doesn't publish weight limits. For back pain and fibromyalgia, it points to Tri-Pedic, the zoned Fibro-Pedic and its sister brand Back Science. Every factory-direct model can carry the patented Airflow Transfer System, which helps hot sleepers.

The brand page shows different starting prices than the product pages. It lists the Original at $1,098, Deluxe at $1,598, Extreme at $2,898 and Elite at $3,398, and the product tables are lower on sale. Prices are factory-direct and undercut comparable Tempur-Pedic models. Showroom reviews say the brand price-matches online competitors. Synchrony financing is available, with no interest for 12 months or more depending on current specials.

What are the mattresses made of?

The Original and Deluxe use a bamboo stretch knit cover. The Extreme, Elite and Tri-Pedic use a Kool-Flow micro-vented stretch knit, and all of them unzip for washing. Fibro-Pedic has a hand-stitched hypoallergenic terry cover. The brand says all foam is CertiPUR-US certified, with VOC emissions under 0.5 parts per million. It uses 4 lb and 5 lb memory foams. Tri-Pedic has 10 ILD soft and 20 ILD firm foam. Other parts are Hypergel gel foam, Resili-Flex and UltraFlex layers, Polyflex in Memory Zone and HR polyurethane bases.

Layers are bonded with a GREENGUARD certified water-borne adhesive. Flame-resistant netting sits over the foam, and you shouldn't remove it. The patented Airflow Transfer System, US Patent No. 7,334,280, drills micro holes through the top layer into channels that exit the sides. The beds are made in the company's Southern California factory near Thousand Oaks, with USA-sourced materials, and were Made in USA Certified in 2012. The brand doesn't publish exact foam densities or ILDs for the Original, Deluxe, Extreme and Elite layers, or layer weights. None of these beds use springs, so there's no coil count.

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Durability evidence is mostly warranty-based. Coverage runs 18 years on the Original and Deluxe and 20 years on Memory Zone and PolyFlex. It's 30 years on the Extreme, Elite, Tri-Pedic, Fibro-Pedic, Soft-Pedic, Back Science Hybrid and Gel-Flex lines. Parts, labor and materials are fully covered for the first 10 years, then pro-rated. A defect means sag over 3/4 in. You'll need to rotate the bed head-to-toe every other month for the first four months and every six months after that. Don't flip it.

The brand says no-flip foam avoids the fiber matting and spring fatigue of innerspring hybrids. It cites its own October 2007 Sleep Disorders Center of Alabama questionnaire. In it, 149 patients tried Tri-Pedic, Fibro-Pedic and Tempur-Flow beds. 70 percent reported less tossing and turning, 91 percent would recommend them and 94 percent felt well supported. That isn't peer-reviewed or an independent lab test.

Consumer Reports tested the Original for durability and firmness, but the scores are member-only. We found no independent long-term sag, foam-fatigue or edge-support testing as of September 2026.

Customer reviews and complaints

The brand's reviews page shows Google reviews at 4.8 out of 5 from 62 reviews and Yelp at 5 out of 5. Named reviews are all positive. They praise service and expertise, free firmness customization, price matching and next-day delivery with setup and haul-away. Testimonials also come from NOAA ship crews and individual owners.

Ultrabed says it's a Better Business Bureau accredited business and a 2012 BBB Hall of Fame member. We couldn't check the BBB profile, so the current grade and complaint count are unverified. We found no complaints in any accessible third-party source. The sample is small and self-selected, and the page shows curated quotes.

Where can you try and buy?

You can try beds at the Agoura Hills showroom and factory, 28505 Canwood St, Ste C, Agoura Hills, CA 91301. It's open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm. You can't buy online yet. The shop page says the store is in the works and launching soon. Orders run through the showroom, phone, email or the quote forms. The showroom also carries other brands. They include Aireloom, Beautyrest, Bear, Birch, Brooklyn Bedding, Casper, Chattam and Wells, DreamCloud, Helix, King Koil and Leesa. You'll also find Nectar, Nolah, PalmPring, Plank, Puffy, Purple, Scott Living, Sealy, Serta, Stearns and Foster, Tempur-Pedic, Tuft and Needle and WinkBeds. You can compare them side by side.

Delivery, setup and removal

Beds ship worldwide from the plant near Thousand Oaks, California. They aren't rolled or compressed. They go by special carrier, wrapped in plastic and boxed, with 3 to 5 days of transit to most US customers. You'll get shipping costs by phone. Mattress pads are rolled and sent by FedEx or UPS Ground.

Local delivery within roughly a 2-hour radius is free and includes setup and haul-away of your old mattress. If you refuse a delivery and nothing is wrong, you'll pay round-trip shipping before a refund, plus restocking fees if they apply. Return shipments are your responsibility except for manufacturing or shipping errors. The brand doesn't publish a national shipping rate table, white-glove tiers outside the local radius, or lead times for custom builds.

Sleep trial and returns

The 120-day trial starts the day you receive the bed. You can exchange it or get a refund of the purchase price less shipping and handling. The brand strongly recommends a 21-day break-in first. It advertises no restocking fee. Return shipping is yours unless it's a manufacturing or shipping error, and you're exempt inside the 2-hour local delivery radius.

If you got a shipping special or free item, a return without an exchange has costs. You'll pay shipping both ways and send back promotional items except pillows. Pillows and bedding can be exchanged within 30 days. Promotional items become non-returnable after 30 days, and their value comes off any refund. Returns must reach the plant before day 120. You'll need an RMA number, and a 14-day inspection usually comes before credit.

Custom mattresses and toppers, adjustable bases and opened sheets, comforters or pillows are excluded. Custom orders canceled after 3 days carry a 20 percent surcharge. Items damaged after delivery aren't returnable. Defective items are exchanged promptly.

Warranty

Warranties run 18 years on Flex-Tech Original and Deluxe. They run 30 years on Flex-Tech Extreme and Elite, Tri-Pedic, Soft-Pedic, Fibro-Pedic, Back Science Hybrid and Gel-Flex. Memory Zone, PolyFlex and all other Ultrabed brands get 20 years. For the first 10 years the maker covers parts, labor and materials, and you pay shipping and handling. From year 11 you pay a pro-rated share, years owned divided by the total term, multiplied by the mattress cost. The brand's examples are 61.1 percent in year 11 of 18 years, 36.6 percent of 30 years and 55 percent of 20 years.

A defect means sag over 3/4 in, measured with a string pulled tight over both sides on a hard floor. You'll need an RMA number before returning it. Food, drink, urine, punctures, pet damage, cigarette burns, normal cosmetic foam change, a bad foundation and liquid seepage aren't covered. Rotate it as described above, never flip it, and don't remove the flame-resistant netting.

Adjustable bases carry a separate Flex-U.S.A. Elite 20-year warranty. Year 1 covers parts and labor. Years 2 to 5 cover parts only. Years 6 to 20 cover mechanical parts only, and electronics, drive motors and massage motors are excluded.

Ultrabed vs. other brands

The brand benchmarks Tri-Pedic Gold, Platinum and Diamond against Tempur-Cloud, Tempur-Cloud Supreme and Tempur-Cloud Luxe. It argues its US-made 5 lb memory foam matches Tempur density at factory-direct prices.

It also sells online brands such as Nectar, Helix, DreamCloud, Puffy, Tuft and Needle, Leesa and Casper. Others are Brooklyn Bedding, Bear, Birch, WinkBeds, Nolah, Plank and Purple. Those arrive compressed, with roughly 10-year warranties and mail-back returns. Ultrabed is made to order, with free firmness customization, a 120-night in-store trial and 18 to 30 year warranties. Beautyrest, Sealy, Serta, Stearns and Foster, King Koil, Aireloom and Chattam and Wells use springs. The brand argues foam-only avoids spring motion transfer and edge-support imbalance.

The trade-offs are real. You won't find a public independent lab score, there's no online checkout, and Adjust series sale prices are phone-only. Its performance claims rest heavily on its own doctor-authored marketing and a 2007 in-house questionnaire.
