Slumberland Mattress Review

Slumberland is a 120-plus-store Midwest furniture chain, not a mattress factory. Its house beds are Slumbercrest (marketed as Slumbercrest by Sealy), SlumberKids and the step-up Midnight Select. You can only buy them from its own stores. They carry a 365-night reselect guarantee and 10-year non-prorated warranties, but no cash refunds. It's a good pick if you live in the Upper Midwest and want to test a bed first.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Match the feel to the sleeper, not the marketing. Back sleepers, stomach sleepers and heavier buyers who want a firm, edge-supported surface should try the Slumbercrest 8 Inch Hybrid. The Midnight Select Firm Tight Top is the other pick. Its 975-coil core with a 360-degree coil edge system gives the most support at the perimeter. Side sleepers and pressure-sensitive buyers should look at the Regis Medium Pillowtop or Midnight Select Medium Pillowtop. Both add foam and pillowtop layers over encased-coil cores.

Couples who can't agree can look at the Regis Medium Tight Top or Midnight Select Medium Tight Top. Both are medium feel with encased coils for motion isolation, and both come in Twin XL for a split king on an adjustable base. If you want an oversized bed, Midnight Select is the only house family sold in SlumberKing, Slumberland's exclusive 108-inch by 80-inch size. The site also explains Split Head King and Split King options, but specialty sizes are excluded from the 365-night guarantee.

For kids, teens, bunk beds and daybeds, pick from SlumberKids Foam, Innerspring, Memory Foam or Hybrid. All are medium or medium-firm with kid-safe fabrics. The innerspring and hybrid add coil support for heavier kids, and the foam models suit lighter ones. For guest rooms, dorms and tight budgets, Rutherford Home 5-inch runs $129.99 to $229.99 and the 8-inch runs $179.99 to $279.99. They're simple gel-foam builds with no warranty listed.

Hot sleepers have two cooling claims to go on, the Regis CoolTex knit cover and the Midnight Select cooling cover. If you want a softer than medium feel, you'll need the third-party brands on the same floor. The house range has no plush or soft option.

Mattress prices and value

Prices are promotional and move constantly. The posted spread in September 2026 is wide, and the house brands sit at the bottom of it. The cheapest house mattress is the 5-inch Rutherford Home memory foam at $129.99 Twin to $229.99 King. The most expensive is the Midnight Select Medium Pillowtop at $1,299.99 to $2,699.99 for a SlumberKing.

In between, the practical value picks are the Regis Medium Tight Top at $249.99 to $599.99 and the Regis Medium Pillowtop at $449.99 to $799.99. Both are priced against entry Sealy and Ashley beds. The 8-inch Slumbercrest hybrid at $399.99 to $699.99 is the only house bed that ships rolled in a box. Midnight Select at $1,199.99 and up is priced against Sealy Posturepedic Elite, Stearns and Foster Studio and entry Tempur-Pedic. It competes mainly on coil count (975, versus 696 in the Regis) and the SlumberKing size.

Every house model shows a steep compare-at price. Regis models are advertised at roughly 40 to 44 percent off, the 8-inch hybrid about 38 percent off and Midnight Select 31 to 33 percent off. Slumberland runs near-continuous events, including Mega Sale, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, anniversary and Presidents Day sales. A Reddit shopper reported in July 2026 that a salesperson refused to negotiate on a Sealy price. He was told to wait for the Fourth of July sale. So the posted sale price, not the list price, is the real price.

House-brand mattresses carry eligible-for-coupons and eligible-for-discounts tags, while Tempur-Pedic, Purple, Stearns and Foster and Nectar items don't. Several house models are HSA/FSA eligible. Financing is plentiful. The Slumberland Advantage credit card from Wells Fargo has a 28.99 percent APR for new accounts as of Sept 1, 2026. It offers rewards certificates up to twice a year. Affirm offers three, six, twelve or eighteen monthly payments. The site's example is a $700 purchase at about $64 a month over 12 months at 15 percent APR. Acima lease-to-own approvals run from $300 to $5,000 on 12 to 24 month schedules.

A 30-day Low Price Guarantee refunds the difference against a qualifying local competitor, or gives $100 back if Slumberland can't match. A military discount is valid in stores every day. It excludes Tempur-Pedic, Stearns and Foster, Ashley and Sealy Posturepedic Plus foam and hybrids. A 40 Winks Foundation giveback has donated more than 70,000 mattresses since 1991. There's no nationwide free shipping, so the cheapest way to buy is to live inside a delivery zone and buy during an event.

What are the mattresses made of?

Slumberland publishes only headline materials, not a full spec sheet. Here's everything the house lines disclose. Both Slumbercrest Regis feels have a CoolTex knit cover for a cool-to-the-touch surface and medium comfort foam. They also have 696 individually encased coils and a 360-degree foam-encased edge for stability. The pillowtop version adds extra foam comfort layers. All are assembled in the USA.

The Slumbercrest 8 Inch Hybrid has two inches of high-density CertiPUR foam over a 682 perimeter-edge wrapped coil unit, rolled in a box. CertiPUR foams are made without flame retardants, ozone depleters, mercury and other heavy metals, PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP Tris flame retardants, phthalates and formaldehyde. Midnight Select (all three feels) has Isotonic+ memory foam for pressure relief, motion reduction and durability. It also has 975 encased coils with a full 360-degree coil edge system, and a cooling cover with specialty fibers that draw heat and moisture away. It's assembled in the USA.

SlumberKids Hybrid uses kid-safe fabrics, gel quilt foam, gel memory foam, high-density support foam and a 696 encased coil system. SlumberKids Memory Foam has gel memory foam over a high-density foam core. SlumberKids Foam has high-density quilt foam over a high-density foam core. SlumberKids Innerspring has high-density quilt foam and a 460-count VertiCoil support system. Rutherford Home is gel memory foam with CertiPUR-US certification on the 10 and 12-inch models. It has washable covers and ships compressed in a box with a 72-hour expansion instruction. The Essential 10 Inch Hybrid has pocketed coils with high-density and memory foam under an antimicrobial knit cover. Hybrid Youth is a three-layer build with cooling gel-infused memory foam and individually wrapped coils.

The brand doesn't publish foam densities, ILD or firmness numbers, or coil gauge (checked September 2026). It also doesn't publish Rutherford and Essential coil counts or Regis and Midnight Select layer thicknesses. No certification beyond CertiPUR-US is listed. On origin, the homepage markets Slumbercrest as Slumbercrest by Sealy. Isotonic+ and VertiCoil are names tied to Sealy-family bedding. The site's product data lists the vendor for the Regis, SlumberKids and Midnight Select beds as Sherwood Bedding. That company describes itself as a Tempur+Sealy company and a private-label maker. The 8-inch hybrid lists MD Mattress, an Indiana private-label maker. The catalog tags the Rutherford Home foams as Myanmar and the Slumbercrest 100 platform frame as Vietnam.

How well do the mattresses hold up?

The brand doesn't publish independent durability testing, foam density, sag testing or long-term field data on the house lines (checked September 2026). The lineup is also too new for a history. The 8-inch hybrid went live in March 2024 and SlumberKids in May 2025. The Regis beds followed in October 2025, Midnight Select in January 2026 and the Essential 10-inch hybrid in July 2026.

The only durability signals are the warranty terms, and they're uneven. The Regis beds, the 8-inch hybrid, all four SlumberKids and all three Midnight Select beds carry 10 years non-prorated. That's competitive for the price. The Elate topper has three years. The foundations have one year. Hybrid Youth has five years limited, the Essential hybrid six months, and the four Rutherford Home pages list no warranty at all.

Structurally, the hybrids and innersprings should hold their shape better than cheap foam beds. They use encased coil cores with foam-encased or 360-degree coil edges. Coil counts are 696 on the Regis and SlumberKids Hybrid, 682 on the 8-inch and 975 on Midnight Select. But without published foam densities or coil gauge, nobody can honestly predict sag life. High-density and CertiPUR-US references and the Isotonic+ longevity claim are maker claims, not test results.

Service matters as much as materials. Slumberland decides whether a claim is repaired or replaced. Free service lasts only the first 90 days. After that, inspection fees, delivery fees and technician labor may apply. That's the part of ownership most likely to cause friction in years three through ten.

Customer reviews and complaints

Slumberland doesn't run a customer-review platform for mattresses. The site has no Yotpo, Okendo or Bazaarvoice widget, and no star ratings or review counts on any house mattress page. The write-a-review page is a blank form. So on-site social proof is essentially zero. Independent volume is thin too. SmartCustomer, formerly SiteJabber, shows 2.0 out of 5 from only two reviews as of September 2026. One praised the sales staff but called after-sale repair service poor, with unresolved calls. The other described a defective first bed and a replacement that felt different from the store display. That reviewer was also told the policy allowed only exchange, with a $99 fee plus shipping. That's an older policy. Slumberland now advertises a 365-night guarantee with a $199 reselect fee. Confirm terms at purchase.

Reddit is anecdotal but more informative. On r/Mattress, a 2026 shopper described the house line as Slumbercrest beds made by Sealy for Slumberland. Others report long happy ownership of older Slumbercrest innersprings. One called a Slumbercrest-Sealy eurotop queen the best bed they'd ever owned. A Colorado user slept on a Slumbercrest plush on vacation and slept like a baby. Price feedback is mixed. One user in July 2026 was told the price is what it is and to wait for the Fourth of July sale. Users in mid 2026 called a sale on a previous-generation Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Medium Hybrid pretty decent.

Store-service complaints exist but mostly cover other categories. An August 2026 r/wisconsin and r/Eau_Claire post is titled Slumberland Furniture sells trash. It described a lift chair that quit after about 18 months and a disputed 5-year protection plan. Another report describes a delivery truck sideswiping a parked car. BBB, ConsumerAffairs, Trustpilot and Yelp were unavailable when we checked, so their absence is a gap in access, not proof of a clean history. No aggregate Google rating was available. Bottom line, house-mattress review evidence is too sparse to predict how you'll like one. Owner comments on older Slumbercrest beds are mildly encouraging. Verify the policy and service complaints in writing before you buy.

Where can you try and buy?

You can buy in stores in the Midwest and effectively nowhere else. Slumberland is a family-owned retailer founded by Ken Larson in Richfield, Minnesota in 1967, and his son Kenny Larson still runs it. Its About page says more than 120 stores in 12 states. The store-locator sitemap lists roughly 129 distinct city and state locations. About 79 are in Minnesota, with the rest in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Michigan, Kansas, Wyoming and Montana. It has franchised since 1975. It cites number 28 on Furniture Today's 2025 Retailer Rankings and an Entrepreneur Top 500 Franchise listing for 2024.

A specialty format called Slumberland Mattress Plus focuses on mattresses, adjustable bases, pillows and sleep accessories. Its first location is in Springfield, Missouri. Online, slumberland.com sells the full house range including SlumberKing sizes. But delivery is limited to local store delivery zones. Outside those zones, pickup is the only option, and the FAQ says nationwide or overseas shipping isn't offered. Pickup at any Slumberland location is free.

No third-party retailer sells the house mattresses. We found no Amazon, Wayfair or Costco listings for Slumbercrest or Midnight Select. Be careful, though. Unrelated products also use the name Slumbercrest, including a 10-inch queen memory foam mattress on Amazon. A separate Singapore and Malaysia company is also called Slumberland. You can easily land on the wrong company's bed. In short, this is a try-in-store, buy-in-store brand with no national distribution.

Delivery, setup and removal

Delivery is zone-based, and pickup is the fallback. In local delivery zones, free no-contact doorstep shipping leaves the mattress in its original packaging outside your first-floor entry, garage or loading dock. There's no assembly and no signature. Full-service delivery is available in most local zones and is the better choice for a mattress. A team brings it to the room you choose, unwraps it, assembles it, inspects the route and placement, and disposes of the packing. A signature is required, and you can ask for a delivery window and a call or text ahead. The full-service fee isn't published, so ask the store.

Free in-store pickup is available at any location. Everything must be picked up or delivered within 14 days of purchase. After an online order, the local store contacts you within 24 hours with an arrival estimate. Old mattress disposal costs extra. The site says Slumberland can remove your old mattress and box spring for a small fee. The option appears in your cart online, or you can call the store. The brand doesn't publish the amount (checked September 2026), so confirm it before checkout. Furniture removal exists in select markets for a small fee. The company also pitches removal and shredding as a way to cut landfill waste. It adds solar power at its Little Canada, Minnesota warehouse and several Minnesota stores since 2013, plus broad recycling.

Two rules are worth knowing. You must report damage to your home or product to the local store within 5 days. Slumberland then inspects and repairs or replaces at its discretion. Doorstep shipping isn't available on as-is or clearance items and may be restricted in remote areas.

Sleep trial and returns

The headline policy is the 365-Night Sleep Guarantee. It's a comfort guarantee, not a refund policy. To qualify, you must buy both the mattress and a mattress protector from Slumberland. You must sleep on the mattress at least 30 nights before you can act. Between night 30 and night 365, you get one reselection of comfort, size or height. It costs a $199 reselect fee plus applicable delivery fees, and there are no refunds. If the replacement costs less, the difference goes onto a Slumberland gift card or toward other merchandise. Special order sizes are excluded.

Furniture follows a different clock. Within 5 days of taking possession you can get a full refund. After that, up to 30 days, you get a one-time reselect with the same $199 fee and gift-card treatment. Top-of-bed items can be refunded in full within 30 days if new in their packaging. That covers protectors, encasements, sheets, blankets, comforters, pillows and toppers. Toppers get in-store credit once opened. Opened product not in original packaging isn't returnable.

The exclusions list matters. Adjustable power bases, items exchanged for warranty claims, special order merchandise and clearance items are exempt from returns and exchanges. Clearance includes floor models, overstocks and customer reselection returns. Special order terms are punitive. Canceling one before you take possession costs a 25 percent fee, and you can finance no more than 75 percent of the purchase. All sales are final once you take possession of excluded categories. Because there's no cash refund route on mattresses, your practical exit is a $199 reselect inside one year, with the protector purchase required up front. Budget for both.

Warranty

House-line warranties are the clearest consumer-facing terms in the program. They're explained on product pages, not in a downloadable document. The Regis Medium Tight Top and Pillowtop have 10 years, non-prorated. The 8 Inch Hybrid has 10 years. All three Midnight Select beds and all four SlumberKids beds have 10 years non-prorated. The Elate topper has 3 years. The Slumbercrest Foundation and Low Profile Foundation have 1 year. The Essential 10 Inch Hybrid has 6 months. Hybrid Youth has 5 years limited. The Rutherford Home 5, 8, 10 and 12-inch beds have no warranty published, since the field reads No.

Process matters as much as length. Slumberland says warranties vary by manufacturer and it will help facilitate service under the manufacturer's terms. It inspects every claim and decides whether to repair or replace. There are no refunds on warranty claims. Service in delivery areas is free for the first 90 days. After 90 days in your home, inspection fees, delivery fees and technician labor may apply. For items outside the warranty, it only provides a technician referral. As-is merchandise is final with no manufacturer warranty.

The optional SlumberCare+ Protection Plan is a paid add-on, not the mattress warranty. The main plan runs 5 years. It covers stains, rips, tears, punctures, burns, dye transfer, and structural and operational failures. Other versions cover outdoor items for 5 years, adjustable bases for 10 years and massage chairs for 5 years. You must report claims within 60 days of the incident. Accumulation, odors, loss of resiliency, misuse and damage covered by homeowner's insurance are excluded. Pet damage is limited to one incident per order. If you never claim, you get a Don't Use, Don't Lose in-store credit voucher equal to the plan cost, with a minimum purchase required. Before buying, ask the store for the manufacturer warranty document for your exact model. The ten-year non-prorated wording sits in the spec table, not a linked PDF.

Slumberland vs. other brands

Against the national brands on its own floor, Slumberland's house lines are a price play. A queen Regis Medium Tight Top at $299.99 sits far below the Sealy Posturepedic Dallas or Safa Park beds beside it. It's about a quarter of the price of a queen Sealy Posturepedic Elite or a Tempur-Pedic Adapt. The house bed is effectively a Sealy-family private label made by Sherwood Bedding, so you're comparing one Sealy-channel bed with another that has fewer features. Against Sealy Posturepedic and Stearns and Foster, the house lines lose on published construction detail, surface technologies, cooling tiers and feels. They win on price, coupon eligibility and financing.

Against the step-up Midnight Select at $1,199.99 to $2,699.99, you're looking at Sealy Posturepedic Elite, Stearns and Foster Studio and Estate, Tempur-Pedic Adapt and entry Purple beds. All sit on the same floor. Midnight Select competes on its 975 coils, 360-degree coil edge and SlumberKing size. But it has no published foam densities and no review base, which hurts next to brands with widely available specs and reviews.

Against DTC brands such as Saatva, Nectar, Purple direct or DreamCloud, Slumberland loses on the buying experience. It has no money-back trial, no free returns, no nationwide shipping, no bed-in-a-box delivery outside a local zone, no published specs and no downloadable warranty. It wins on being testable in more than 120 stores, plus local service and financing. Against Mattress Firm's private labels, Original Mattress Factory or Ashley's own beds, it's broadly comparable on price and warranty. Its best warranties are 10 years non-prorated, and its four-model kids range is unusually well developed. Its comfort guarantee is a paid reselect, not a refund. Against value internet brands on Amazon and Wayfair, the Rutherford Home beds compete on price only. They're the weakest house offer, with no warranty listed.

Slumberland ranks 28th on Furniture Today's 2025 retailer rankings, so it's big enough to service what it sells. Its floor also carries third-party beds: Sealy (31 models), Tempur-Pedic (24), Stearns and Foster (21), Purple (12), Ashley Sleep and Ashley Furniture (17, including Nectar) and Sweetnight Luna (3). But it's a retailer, not a mattress specialist, and it doesn't control its own manufacturing.

How we put this review together

We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.

Quick answers before you buy

Is Slumbercrest made by Sealy?

Effectively yes, in channel terms. The homepage promotes the Regis as Slumbercrest by Sealy, and the site lists the vendor as Sherwood Bedding, a Tempur+Sealy company. The 8-inch hybrid lists a different vendor, MD Mattress.

What does a Slumberland house mattress cost?

It runs from $129.99 for a 5-inch Rutherford Home Twin to $2,699.99 for a Midnight Select Medium Pillowtop SlumberKing. The value picks are the Regis Medium Tight Top at $249.99 to $599.99 and the 8-inch hybrid at $399.99 to $699.99. Midnight Select runs $1,199.99 to $2,699.99.

Can I return a mattress for a refund?

No. The guarantees are reselect-only. Buy a mattress plus a protector and sleep on it at least 30 nights. Then you get one comfort, size or height reselection for a $199 fee plus any delivery fees. If you pick something cheaper, the difference goes on a gift card.

How long is the warranty on the house beds?

It's ten years non-prorated on the Regis beds, the 8-inch hybrid, all four SlumberKids and all three Midnight Select beds. It drops to five years on Hybrid Youth, three on the Elate topper, one on the foundations and six months on the Essential hybrid. The Rutherford Home beds list no warranty. Service is free for 90 days, then fees may apply.

Do I have to live in the Midwest?

For delivery, effectively yes. There are more than 120 stores in 12 states, and delivery is only inside local zones. Outside them you can only collect the bed from a store, since there's no nationwide shipping.

Does Slumberland make anything special in size?

Yes. SlumberKing is an exclusive oversized size of about 108 inches wide by 80 inches long. It's offered on Midnight Select from $2,199.99, and specialty sizes are excluded from the 365-night guarantee.
