Soaring Heart Natural Bed Company Mattress Review
Soaring Heart is a Seattle-area organic bedding maker that has handcrafted mattresses in Washington since 1982. The lineup is tight: an all-wool mattress, a GOTS and GOLS certified Dunlop latex mattress, and organic cotton and wool futons. It suits you if you're chemical-sensitive and want a handmade, low-tox bed. Prices are premium, and mattress sales are final. So it's for committed buyers, not for people who want a trial.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?
If you sleep hot or are sensitive, look at the latex mattress, which has breathable Dunlop latex plus a wool wrap. The all-wool mattress also fits, with temperature-regulating, scent-free wool. Back and stomach sleepers can choose firm all-wool or supportive latex. Side sleepers can choose latex, or wool plus a soft topper.
For minimalists, kids' rooms and guests, the cotton-wool futons or shikibutons work on the floor or a frame. If you want to avoid chemicals, the wool options need no flame-retardant chemicals.
Mattress prices and value
The All-Wool Mattress is listed at roughly $1,550 to $3,100 by size. The site showed sale prices from about $775. It's made to order, so allow 6 to 8 weeks. The Organic Latex Mattress runs roughly $1,995 to $2,519+ by size, with the collection from about $1,419 on select configurations.
Futon and shikibuton prices vary by size and build. We couldn't capture exact current figures as of September 2026, so check the official collections. This is premium artisan pricing for certified-organic, Washington-handcrafted builds with long warranties. It's poor value if you might want to return it, since mattress sales are final.
What are the mattresses made of?
Soaring Heart uses eco and certified-organic wool from New Zealand family farms. It uses USDA-certified organic cotton batting from a Texas growers' cooperative, with certified-organic fabrics. It uses GOLS Dunlop latex from Sri Lanka, bought through a US supplier and wrapped in organic wool textile.
The latex mattress is billed as GOTS and GOLS certified organic Dunlop latex, handcrafted in Seattle. Wool is naturally fire-resistant, so no chemical flame retardants are needed. The builds are nontoxic and hypoallergenic. Certifications below the mattress level, such as full-factory GOTS scope, weren't fully detailed on accessible pages as of September 2026.
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Dunlop latex is highly resilient and holds support for years on a slatted, ventilated base. All-wool batting gradually compacts and firms. Expect rotation, airing and eventual re-fluffing rather than a spring-like lifespan.
Handmade soft builds carry up to a 2 in per-side size variance. Long warranties, up to 25 years on wool and up to 20 years in general, signal maker confidence. They require an approved protector and intact law labels.
Customer reviews and complaints
Aggregated third-party ratings and complaint counts weren't available as of September 2026. The GoodBed page and review pages returned errors or no readable text. The brand's name rests on 40+ years of Washington handcraft and its Seattle-area showroom, not on national review volume.
Expect praise for craftsmanship and natural materials. Watch for gripes about firmness, price and final-sale terms. Test in the showroom and read on-site testimonials before you buy.
Where can you try and buy?

Delivery, setup and removal
Standard ground shipping is free in the continental US on orders of $150 or more. Transit is typically 7 to 10 days. The all-wool mattress is made to order, so allow 6 to 8 weeks for production.
In-home setup, white-glove service and old-mattress removal aren't published (checked September 2026). For damaged or defective arrivals, send a claim form plus photos to hello@soaringheart.com. Confirmed flaws are repaired or replaced, with freight paid.
Sleep trial and returns
There's no sleep trial. All mattress sales are final, including shikibutons and futons. The only option is a conditional 30-Day Comfort Exchange. Your bed must be properly protected and supported, free of stains and damage, and a Soaring Heart or Holy Lamb Organics brand.
For general goods, you have 30 days from the ship or fulfillment date. A company-paid label must be used within 5 days, and the refund comes within 7 to 14 days of receipt. Refunds need unused, unwashed goods in the original packaging. Used items get store credit only, which expires in 12 months. Canceling all-wool bedding costs a 30% restocking fee, and other bedding canceled after shipment costs 20%. You can't cancel all-wool bedding after it ships. You get a maximum of 3 returns per rolling year.
Warranty
The All-Wool Mattress page states a 25-year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials, with 10 years non-prorated. The general warranty page describes up to 20 years. Years 1 to 10 are non-prorated. Years 11 to 20 are prorated at 1/20 of the current price per year of use. The fix is repair or replacement, plus shipping and transport costs.
Claims need an approved natural mattress protector in use, proof of purchase, intact law and trade labels, and a ventilated slatted support. Exclusions include body impressions of 1.5 inches or less, weight variance under 10% and size variance under 2 inches per side. Natural lanolin wool scent, stains, burns, tears, and floor or as-is models are also excluded.
Soaring Heart Natural Bed Company vs. other brands
Against Avocado, PlushBeds and My Green Mattress, those brands offer wider certified-latex lines plus real trials and returns. Soaring Heart wins on artisan Washington handcraft but loses on flexibility.
Against Shepherd's Dream and Holy Lamb Organics, you're in a closely related artisan wool world. Soaring Heart even sells a Shepherd's Dream-built wool mattress. So compare firmness, thickness and exchange terms. Against futon and shikibuton sellers, its organic wool, cotton and latex builds beat mass-market futons on materials. They cost far more, with final-sale terms.
How we put this review together
We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
