Quality Sleep Shop Mattress Review

Quality Sleep Shop is a family-owned mattress factory and showroom in La Grange Highlands, Illinois. It has handcrafted innerspring and hybrid beds since 1969. Its four core models run from the $339 Scot Quilt kids and guest bed to the $879-plus Emily latex hybrid. You get CertiPUR foams, zoned pocket coils, a 100-night guarantee and non-prorated warranties of 8 to 10 years. It isn't built for nationwide white-glove delivery or free returns.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

If you share a bed and want low motion transfer, look at the Emily (latex over pocket coils). The Megan (soft foam over pocket coils) works too. If you sleep on your back or stomach and want firm support, the Emily's firm coil base or the Rylee fits.

If you're furnishing a kids room, teen room or guest bed on a budget, the Scot Quilt is the pick. If you sleep hot or have chemical sensitivities, consider the sibling brand My Green Mattress. Its organic latex line is sold from the same La Grange workshop.

If you sleep on your side and want plush pressure relief, try the Emily or Megan in a softer comfort choice. Ask the makers for guidance.

Mattress prices and value

The Emily is $879 in twin and $1,349 in queen, mattress-only. With a foundation, the queen is $1,548. The king is $1,599 ($1,878 with foundation), and the Cal king is $1,674 ($1,978 with foundation).

The Megan is $499 in twin, $729 in queen ($928 with foundation) and $979 in king ($1,258 with foundation). The Rylee is $479 in twin, $699 in queen ($898 with foundation) and $959 in king ($1,238 with foundation). The Scot Quilt is $339 in twin and $549 in queen ($748 with foundation).

Foundations come in a 9-inch standard and a 5.5-inch low profile. They add roughly $130 to $300. Your value is factory-direct pricing with no middleman markup. The maker says it buys from the same spring and foam distributors as major makers, with the heaviest foam weights at each price point.

What are the mattresses made of?

The Emily has up to 1462 seven-zone pocket coils (7.75-inch, 8-turn). The perimeter is 13.5-gauge with border rods, the head and foot are 15.5-gauge, and the center third is 14.5-gauge. On top are 1 inch of 1.8-lb 32-ILD foam, 1 inch of 14-ILD blended latex and a 1-inch 1.5-lb quilted cover. It has CertiPUR foams and a heavy-weight cover, and it's 11 inches tall.

The Megan has up to 1256 seven-zone coils (8-inch, 13.75-gauge), 5/8-inch 1.8-lb foam, 1.5-inch convoluted foam and a 1-inch quilted cover. It has CertiPUR foams and is 11 inches tall.

The Rylee has up to 1256 zoned coils, a flex-net insulator and a compressed-fiber lumbar band. It adds 1-inch memory foam, 1-inch 1.8-lb foam and a 1-inch quilted cover, and it's 10 inches tall. The Scot Quilt has up to 704 pocket coils, 1.5-inch soy-based convoluted foam and a 1-inch quilted cover. It has CertiPUR foams and is 9 inches tall.

How well do the mattresses hold up?

The maker says it buys springs and comfort layers from the same distributors as major manufacturers. It says it selects the most durable innersprings and the heaviest foam weights available. Many builds are two-sided and flippable, which extends service life.

Warranty cover spans 10 years (Emily, Megan, Rylee) and 8 years (Scot Quilt), non-prorated. The brand doesn't publish independent long-term durability testing or sag-rate data (checked September 2026). Ask for a matching foundation and quilted pad to protect your cover terms.

Customer reviews and complaints

The shop has an on-site Reviews page at qualitysleepshop.com/pages/reviews. The brand doesn't publish third-party scores from Google, Yelp or BBB, review counts, or verified complaint themes (checked September 2026).

The maker cites 50-plus years in business, repeat local customers and factory tours as trust signals. We couldn't verify a recurring defect pattern from official sources. Treat the durability claims as maker-stated until you find independent reviews.

Where can you try and buy?

You can try and buy at the factory showroom at 1519 W. 55th Street, La Grange Highlands, Illinois 60525. The phone is (708) 246-2224. The same staff who build the beds help shoppers. You can also buy online at qualitysleepshop.com with USD checkout.

It's a single-location maker, and we found no other storefronts. The shop offers custom sizes for boats, RVs and antique beds by request. It's also an authorized Aireloom dealer alongside its house line.

Delivery, setup and removal

Mattresses are built to order in 1 to 3 business days. Popular kids and guest models may be in stock. Staff call after you order to schedule delivery during business hours.

Online ordering serves roughly a 40-mile radius from La Grange Highlands. If you're outside the area, call to make arrangements. Shipping and taxes are calculated at checkout. The brand doesn't publish old-mattress removal terms (checked September 2026), so confirm them when you schedule delivery.

Sleep trial and returns

The 100 Night Comfort Guarantee asks you to allow about 30 days of break-in. Within the first 100 nights, you may return or exchange handcrafted mattresses, foundations and accessories, except the Katherine Latex Firm.

Each returned or exchanged item carries a $199 fee, plus the applicable delivery fee on pickups. Returning items to the La Grange store avoids the pickup charge. You get one comfort exchange per household, and the second mattress is final sale.

Adjustable bases are final sale and non-returnable. The shop can't pick up or accept items exposed to odor or soil, like smoke, fragrance, cleaners, liquid or pets.

Warranty

The non-prorated factory warranty runs 10 years on the Emily, Megan and Rylee, plus the Katherine Latex, Madelyn, Kelly and Grace lines. It runs 8 years on the Scot Quilt, plus the Noelle and Kyle. It starts from the purchase date, and the maker chooses repair or replacement. You need your original bill of sale and the attached model and law labels.

It excludes firmness preference beyond the trial and impressions of 1.5 inches or less. It also excludes bed height, cover fabric, burns, and stains or soil (the palm-of-hand stain rule). Improper foundations, adjustable-base issues per the manual, and transport or inspection costs are excluded too.

Misuse, damage, soiling or insanitary condition voids the warranty. It isn't extended after a claim.

Quality Sleep Shop vs. other brands

Against major national brands, Quality Sleep Shop claims same-distributor components and heavier foams. It also offers two-sided flippable options that majors dropped, custom sizing, and factory-direct prices with no middleman or flagship-rent overhead.

Against online bed-in-a-box brands, you don't get compressed shipping or free nationwide returns. You get a local build-to-order bed with in-person service instead. Against luxury dealers like Aireloom, which it also carries, you get lower prices and simpler specs.

My Green Mattress is the sibling brand from the same La Grange family workshop (owner Tim Masters family). It sells certified-organic latex beds. Choose it for organic materials, and Quality Sleep Shop for value innerspring hybrids.
