Restore Hybrid Review (2026): Firmness, Price and Fit

Type Hybrid
Firmness Medium
Queen Price $2,699
Height 11.5 in
Trial 100-Night Trial
Warranty 10-Year Warranty

The 30-second verdict

The Restore Hybrid suits back and stomach sleepers, plus average-weight side sleepers who want a responsive bed with Purple's Grid. Buyers who need a plush feel should try RestorePlus first. The catch is that outside testers reviewed a firm-feeling version that may not match today's online Medium, the Queen costs $2,699, and a Restore return may carry a $250 charge.

Pros
  • Coils under the Grid. A pocketed coil layer adds bounce and airflow beneath the two-inch Grid.
  • Single Medium feel. Purple lists a Medium feel online, with no firmness choice at checkout.
  • Home trial. The brand gives buyers 100 nights to try it at home.
  • Stronger edges. The coil and edge support system is built to steady the sides.
Cons
  • Firm test version. Outside testers reviewed a firm-feeling version that may not match today's Medium model.
  • More partner motion. The coil build moves more than an all-foam bed, which may bother very light sleepers.
  • Queen price. The Queen price is $2,699, and no current sale price is confirmed.
  • Return charge. Purple's help center lists a $250 transportation charge for Restore returns.
Feel & Fit

How firm is the Restore Hybrid, and which firmness should you pick?

Purple lists one Medium feel for the version sold on its website. Sleepopolis's test rated a Restore as firm, but the tested configuration is unclear. Treat that result as a sign of how one firmer version felt, not a score for the online Medium mattress. Try the exact version in person if firmness is a concern. People who want a softer Grid surface can compare RestorePlus.

Feel & Fit

Is the Restore Hybrid right for your sleep position and body weight?

Back and stomach sleepers are Purple's suggested match, while average-weight side sleepers may prefer the Medium feel. Combo sleepers may like the springy response. Purple sets no model-specific weight limit; its general guidance is up to 300 pounds per sleeper, and that is not a tested fit rule for this bed. If you are a heavier sleeper, try the bed before ordering and check how your hips and shoulders feel. Purple lists an Edge Support System around the coil base. Try the edge if you sit or sleep near the sides.

Feel & Fit

Is the Restore Hybrid good for back pain?

The Restore may suit people seeking pressure relief with coil support, but it is not a treatment for back pain. Purple says the Grid and coils support the lower back. A Yahoo tester reported less pain after using the mattress, but that is one person's account, not a medical study. If back pain is ongoing or severe, ask a clinician for help and test the Medium feel before relying on it. Sleep needs differ from person to person.

How cool or hot does it sleep?

The open Grid and pocketed coils leave more room for air than a solid foam core, and one Yahoo tester rated its temperature control highly. Purple also makes a cooling claim on its own page, but that is a brand claim, not a matched lab comparison. If you sleep hot, the hybrid design may appeal to you; still, room temperature, bedding and sleepwear affect comfort. Try the bed in a store when possible.

Will you feel your partner move?

Motion may reach a partner more than on an all-foam bed. Sleep Foundation scored motion isolation 7/10 on a Firm Restore, while NapLab gave a firm Restore version 6.0/10 for motion transfer. Both tests cover a Firm version; Purple's current online Restore is Medium, so these scores do not describe that version. The coils add bounce, but very light sleepers should test it with a partner before buying.

Sizes, heights and prices: is it worth the money?

The Restore Hybrid stands 11.5 inches tall. The Queen price is $2,699. Sale prices change, so check Purple's page for any current offer. Purple lists Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King and Split King. Purple does not publish full size dimensions or mattress weights on the pages reviewed. This is an entry-level hybrid in Purple's lineup; compare RestorePlus if you want a thicker Grid.

Where can you buy or try it?

Order the Restore Hybrid from Purple online. You can try Purple beds at showrooms and sellers like Mattress Firm. As of October 7, 2026, Purple's store finder listed 3,523 US locations. That count includes showrooms and retail partners. Another store may have different return terms. Check its policy before you pay. Purple's terms here cover direct orders. Ask the store about a third-party order.

Build & Safety

How is it built?

The Restore Hybrid uses a layered hybrid build. Purple lists a SoftFlex cover, a two-inch GelFlex Grid, Comfort foam, individually wrapped coils and an Edge Support System. Purple calls the coil layer its 8-inch Responsive Coil System, but it does not publish the coil count or foam densities. The Queen is 11.5 inches tall. Purple does not publish full size dimensions or mattress weights on the pages reviewed. Use sheets with enough depth for an 11.5-inch bed, and check sheet maker guidance for extra room.

Materials and certifications

Purple says its foams are CertiPUR-US certified, a label for foam content and emissions. It does not cover the fire barrier. Purple describes a slight new-bed smell that should fade, while one Yahoo tester noticed no lasting odor. A separate NapLab report recorded smell for 14 days on a Firm Restore, which may differ from the Medium online model. These reports come from different testers and versions, so your result may differ.

Does the Restore Hybrid have fiberglass?

Purple says the Restore Hybrid has no fiberglass. Its product page and help center describe a fire sock under the cover as the barrier. This is a brand statement, not a lab check of every mattress. To check your own bed, read the fiber line on the law tag sewn to the side. Do not unzip the cover to look inside. Follow the tag on your own mattress rather than a list for another Purple model.

Build & Safety

What bed base does it need?

Use a solid platform, slats less than 3.5 inches apart or an adjustable base rated for at least 750 pounds. Purple says its mattresses should not sit on a box spring. A poor base can weaken support and may void warranty coverage. This model is a hybrid, so check that the foundation is firm and flat before setup. If you already own an adjustable base, confirm its weight rating and fit with Purple before ordering.

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?

Sleep Foundation estimates at least eight years for the Firm Restore it tested. That may not fit today's Medium version. Purple says not to flip the mattress. Its help center says you may rotate it. Purple asks buyers to wait 21 nights before judging the feel. This is an adjustment wait, not the full 100-Night Trial. The warranty does not promise the bed will feel the same for all 10 years. Ask Purple about turning this version.

Delivery, setup and old mattress removal

Purple ships the Restore Hybrid in a box. Standard ground shipping is free. You set it up unless you pay for in-home service. Purple's help page says some Restore models offer setup and old-bed removal for $200. Check if this model has that option before you pay. Purple says delivery takes 5 to 10 workdays after it leaves the warehouse. This is travel time, not a firm date from order to delivery. Other stores may use their own delivery service.

Trials, returns and fees

Purple offers a 100-Night Trial from delivery. Purple requires a 21-night adjustment period first. After that, you may ask for a return or exchange. Purple's help center lists a $250 transport charge for a Restore Hybrid return. Purple or its partner may arrange pickup. Your refund may leave out discounts, interest and transport charges. One exchange is allowed. Transport or an upgrade may cost more. A store purchase follows that seller's return rules. Keep the bed clean and its law tag attached.

What does the warranty cover, and what voids it?

The original buyer gets Purple's 10-year limited warranty. It covers some factory faults and dips deeper than one inch after the bed recovers. Purple chooses to repair or replace it. The owner pays transport for claims made after the first 100 days. Stains, odors, a missing law tag, a poor base or business use can void the warranty. Read the terms before delivery. Keep the sales receipt.

What do owners like and complain about?

As of October 7, 2026, Purple's Restore product page showed 4.6 out of 5 from 837 reviews, a model-specific rating. Trustpilot lists Purple at 1.4 out of 5 from 102 reviews, while BBB lists 1.39 out of 5 from 75 customer reviews. The Trustpilot and BBB scores cover the company, not this bed alone. They do not give a clear pattern for Restore owners, so use them as background when weighing your own needs.

How does the Restore Hybrid compare?

RestorePlus is the closest option in the line if you want a deeper Grid and zoned coils. In the same size as our price above, Purple lists the RestorePlus at $3,599. That is $900 more than the Restore Hybrid. Try the Medium Restore and RestorePlus in person if you want a different feel. Tom's Guide found Purple a little cooler than Tempur-Adapt in its test. One test cannot promise the same feel in every room.

Has the Restore Hybrid changed since it launched?

An archived Restore page is dated May 18, 2023. The model history says Restore Hybrid has been sold from 2023 to now. The Restore family took the place of the older Purple Hybrid and Hybrid Premier names. Hybrid Premier 3 became RestorePlus. Purple calls today's online Restore Hybrid Medium. Older reviews may test an earlier build. Check the model and feel before you use a test score to choose.
