PurplePlus may suit side and back sleepers who want a Medium, all-foam bed with a gel grid and added cushioning. Stomach sleepers and people who sleep near the edge may prefer a different build, since reviewers flag weak edge support and poor fit above some body weights. The catch is one feel only: if Medium feels wrong, there is no softer or firmer PurplePlus to switch to.
Best forSide sleepers who want all foam: Sleep Foundation rates it up to 9 out of 10 for side sleepers
Not ideal forBuyers who want the longest life from foam: Sleep Foundation estimates about 5 to 6 years
PurplePlus
Pros
Medium feel. PurplePlus has one Medium feel, and outside reviews say it can work for side and back sleepers.
More cushioning. Extra comfort foam may give shoulders and hips more cushion than The Purple Mattress.
Low motion. Tom's Guide reported little movement crossing the bed in its review.
Cooling grid. TechRadar praised how the grid and foam handled heat in its review.
Cons
Weak edge. Tom's Guide reported a downward roll near the edge.
One firmness. There is no softer or firmer PurplePlus if Medium does not suit you.
Short lifespan estimate. Sleep Foundation estimates about 5 to 6 years for this all-foam model.
Return charge. A return of an Essential mattress carries a $150 transportation charge.
How firm is the PurplePlus, and which firmness should you pick?
PurplePlus comes in one Medium feel, so there is no firmness choice to make. Purple labels the feel Medium. Sleep Foundation puts it at 5 out of 10; Tom's Guide scored different body areas from 6 to 7.5, while TechRadar gave the overall feel 6.5. Those testers used separate scales and methods, so do not average their results. Pick this bed only if Medium works for you; there is no softer or firmer PurplePlus to switch to.
Is the PurplePlus right for your sleep position and body weight?
PurplePlus has its strongest fit for side and back sleepers; stomach sleepers should be more cautious. Tom's Guide and TechRadar say it can suit back, side and stomach sleepers. Purple does not publish a PurplePlus-specific weight limit. Its help page suggests up to 300 pounds per sleeper, while TechRadar advises heavier buyers to look elsewhere above about 230 pounds. That is a fit warning, not a stated weight cap. Both reviewers flag weak edge support, so try lying near the edge before buying.
PurplePlus may suit some people with back pain, but the support claims here come from reviewer opinion. Tom's Guide describes a softer feel at pressure points and firmer support near the lower back, then includes the model among its back-pain picks. Purple also cites pain results from a survey it commissioned through SleepScore. No independent clinical study is named for that claim. Use the review as a fit note, not a promise of relief.
TechRadar gave PurplePlus a strong cooling review and praised how its temperature held up for hot sleepers. It credits air channels in the grid and foam that breathes better than the original's. Purple's up-to-4x-cooler claim comes from a 2023 test of its Hybrid mattresses, not PurplePlus. That figure is the brand's claim, not an outside test result. The open grid may help air move, but you still need to like its feel.
Tom's Guide found little partner movement in its PurplePlus review. The Ultra Comfort foam absorbed more movement than the original bed in that test. There are no coils, so the mattress has no spring bounce. If one person wakes easily, try it beside your usual sleep partner in a store or check the return fee before ordering. Expect some bounce from the grid, even with low motion transfer.
PurplePlus is 11 inches tall and comes in seven listed sizes. These sale prices were listed on October 2, 2026. The September 26 page check showed no Queen sale, so the discount may change; verify your size before ordering. The extra foam may justify the price if you prefer more cushion, though outside reviewers still flag the edge support.
PurplePlus can be bought on purple.com and through retail partners Purple names, including Mattress Firm. Purple has showrooms and partner stores where some models can be tried, but the pages do not confirm every store carries PurplePlus. Call before visiting. A direct order comes with Purple's trial terms; purchases from a retail partner may follow that store's return rules. Ask about the return window, fee and pickup before you pay.

PurplePlus is an all-foam mattress with a 2-inch gel grid and an 11-inch height. From top to bottom, Purple lists a SoftFlex cover, the grid, Ultra Comfort foam, two base-support foam layers and edge-support foam. Each layer's thickness beyond the grid and foam density are not listed. Per-size measurements and weights were also not found in the sources reviewed. Check your sheets and moving plans before ordering.
PurplePlus uses a polyester and spandex top panel, with a polyester and acrylic latex bottom panel. Purple says its foam has CertiPUR-US certification and lists the Clean-Air Gold label on the page. No test standard is listed for Clean-Air Gold, so treat it as a Purple claim. NapLab reported a smell that lasted 11 days.
Purple says PurplePlus has a fiberglass-free fire sock under its cover. Purple describes the barrier as silica knit; a third-party guide explains that as silica yarn woven into fabric rather than loose glass strands. That does not replace checking your own unit. Read the fiber-content line on the law tag sewn to the mattress, and do not unzip the cover to look inside. Use the tag on your own bed to confirm its materials.
PurplePlus needs a firm, solid base, slats no more than 3.5 inches apart, or an adjustable base rated for at least 750 pounds. Purple says not to use a box spring. Its warranty also calls for center support on a frame and can exclude damage tied to poor support. Check the exact base instructions before delivery, especially if you use an adjustable frame. Set up the right base first to protect the warranty.
How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?
Sleep Foundation estimates PurplePlus may last about 5 to 6 years, which is a forecast, not a promise. Purple asks buyers to allow 21 nights to adjust. Purple says it is one-sided, so do not flip it; rotating is optional. Read the warranty's dip rule before you count on a long service life.
PurplePlus ships free by standard delivery. It comes compressed in a box for you to set up. Purple says delivery takes 5 to 10 business days after the mattress leaves the warehouse. It often leaves in 1 to 3 days. The full wait can be longer. Purple offers in-home setup and old-bed removal for $200 on some Essential models. Its policy page does not say if PurplePlus qualifies. Check your choices at checkout.

PurplePlus includes a 100-night trial that starts on delivery. Purple requires at least 21 nights for adjustment before it accepts a request to send the mattress back or exchange it. A return of an Essential bed costs $150 in transport, though a delivery problem or unopened mattress may qualify for a waiver. One exchange may be allowed, with any transport charge and upgrade price due. If you buy through a retailer, ask for that store's return rules. Count the fee as part of the trial.

PurplePlus has Purple's 10-year limited warranty for the original buyer. The maker can repair or replace a bed with a covered flaw and chooses which option. A visible dip must be deeper than 1 inch after the bed recovers from weight. Purple may deny coverage for stains, a missing law tag, a wrong base, resale or a mattress used without a cover. For claims made more than 100 days after purchase, the owner pays transport. Check the base and keep the law tag.
Purple's PurplePlus page lists 4.3 out of 5 from 823 reviews, checked in October. Trustpilot's Purple profile has 1.4 out of 5 from 102 reviews. It rates the company, not this mattress. Trustpilot says the profile is unclaimed. At least one review is for another company. Keep the model and company scores separate.
PurplePlus is a taller all-foam step from The Purple Mattress, while Restore Hybrid adds coils. Both foam beds use a 2-inch grid, but PurplePlus adds Ultra Comfort foam and more base foam; it stands 11 inches versus the original's 9.25 inches. Restore Hybrid changes the build with coils under its grid. Choose PurplePlus for added foam without springs, or compare the hybrid if you prefer coils. Try both if you can.
Purple has not published a dated history of PurplePlus design changes. PurplePlus is the step-up Essential model, with a current build of a 2-inch Grid, Ultra Comfort foam and two base-support layers. Purple's current product page shows today's stack but does not say when those parts arrived. Purple has not published the launch year or earlier versions.
Purple's product and policy pages, outside test reports and owner ratings inform this review. We use research notes dated October 2, 2026, brand facts checked September 26 and registry checks on October 7. Nappedia did not test PurplePlus in person.
