Verlo Mattress Review
Verlo Mattress is a Wisconsin-based factory-direct chain, founded in 1958, with about 36 to 40 showrooms, mostly in Wisconsin. It hand-builds v1 through v11 mattresses to order, from the $189 v1 Basic to the $5,199 v11 luxury line. It stands out for double-sided options, 3-to-15-year non-prorated warranties and lifetime Comfort Adjustments. But there's no sleep trial, and no returns or exchanges. You'll want to test it first.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?
Back and stomach sleepers who want firm support can look at v1 Firm, v3 Firm, v5 Firm, v7 Firm, v9 Firm or v11 Firm. Side sleepers and pressure-relief seekers can try v1 Plush or Eurotop, or v3 Plush or Eurotop. Others to try are v5 Eurotop (Verlo's softest), v7 Plush, v9 Plush and v11 Plush. Combination sleepers can try the Hybrids, which have a medium feel with coils plus foam.
Couples with different preferences can have any model customized with different comfort on each side. The v5 and up include a full year of free Comfort Adjustment. Hot sleepers should look at v7 and up, which add moisture-wicking high-performance fabric and temperature-regulation claims. The v5 Foam and v7 Foam use open-cell gel foam for heat dissipation.
For budget guest or kid rooms, look at v1 Basic, v1 Basic Pillowtop and the 5-inch v1 Bunk. Luxury shoppers will want v9 and v11, with natural latex, natural fibers and wool.

What are the mattresses made of?
Every mattress is handcrafted to order in local Verlo factories. Covers are stretch-knit on v1 Basic, Bunk and Basic Pillowtop. From v7 up, they're moisture-wicking high-performance fabric with Tencel yarn. Comfort layers include poly foam, high-density foam, gel memory foam, natural latex, micro coils and natural fibers. Gel memory foam starts at v3 Foam, and it's open-cell gel foam for heat dissipation on v5 Foam and v7 Foam.
Support comes from tempered steel coils and individually wrapped pocketed coils. From v7 up, it's CoilMax coil-on-coil, which is an individually wrapped innerspring unit plus a layer of ultra-premium micro coils. The v11 adds breathable wool fabric and natural latex.
Heights are 11 to 12 inches for v3, 12 to 13.5 for v5, 13.5 to 15.5 for v7, 14.5 to 15.5 for v9 and 17 for v11. The v1 Bunk is a 5-inch profile. Double-sided, flippable options come on most v1 to v9 models.
Poly and gel foams meet CertiPUR-US standards, and latex foams are certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1, per Verlo's FAQ. Foams come from American-owned companies and are made in the USA. Layer thicknesses and coil counts aren't published, beyond the v1 claim of about 30 percent more coils.
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Verlo backs its beds with 100 percent non-prorated warranties by tier. It's 3 years on v1 Basic, v1 Basic Pillowtop and v1 Bunk. It's 5 years on the rest of v1 and 10 years on v3 and v5. It's 12 years on v7 and v9, and 15 years on v11 (and vLatex, per the warranty FAQ).
Build cues include made-to-order construction and high-density foams. From v7, you get the CoilMax coil-on-coil system. Double-sided options let you flip the mattress to even out wear. Verlo recommends rotating or flipping monthly, and says body impressions are normal. Claims cover broken or protruding coils and body indentations of at least 1.5 inches, handled by the local factory.
We found no independent durability, sag or lab test results (checked September 2026), and long-term owner wear reports are limited.
Customer reviews and complaints
SmartCustomer, the SiteJabber successor, shows a 3.7 out of 5 rating for Verlo from 1,259 reviews. 66 percent are 5-star, and 85 reviews are not recommended (checked September 2026). Buyers praise comfort and back-pain relief, helpful sales staff, and delivery and service. Repeat purchases are common.
Complaints include firmness mismatch, either too soft or too firm. Some say the mattresses are heavy to rotate and hard to dress with sheets. Others report height and frame squeak issues, and occasional overheating despite cooling features. Some are frustrated by the no-return policy.
We couldn't gather Google, Yelp or Trustpilot pages. The brand's own site doesn't publish review counts or ratings (checked September 2026).
Where can you try and buy?
You can buy factory-direct online at verlo.com, or in person at about 36 showrooms across 10 states in the store directory. That's Wisconsin 18, Illinois 8, Missouri 2, Texas 2, and one each in Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas and North Carolina. The company FAQ says nearly 40 showrooms in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and Missouri, so confirm current locations.
Comfort Coaches staff every showroom. You can try the vCollections and personalize firmness, then the mattress is built to order at the local factory. The operator contact is Verlo Mattress, 301 N Broadway #300, Milwaukee, WI 53202, phone (866) 998-3756. We found no third-party retailers selling Verlo mattresses (checked September 2026).
Delivery, setup and removal
Each mattress is made to order, so shipping times vary by location and distance from the local Verlo factory. Shipping costs are set locally and vary from store to store. Local showrooms deliver. You can also pick up from your showroom, but you'll need to secure the merchandise yourself.
In most cases, your local Verlo will remove your old mattress or foundation, plus frame, headboard or footboard. A service charge may apply. Items are inspected for infestation or soiling before removal, and Verlo may refuse unsanitary or unsafe items.
The brand doesn't publish white-glove setup details, delivery windows or exact removal fees (checked September 2026). Confirm with your local showroom.
Sleep trial and returns
Verlo doesn't offer a sleep trial, refunds, exchanges or cancellations on mattresses, foundations, adjustable bases or accessories. The policy cites the personal and sanitary nature of sleep products. Instead, you're asked to sleep on the mattress for at least 30 days, then use the Lifetime Comfort Guarantee.
The first Comfort Adjustment is free during the first 180 days on v1 and v3. On v5, v7, v9 and v11, it's free during the first year (365 days). Basic, Bunk and Custom mattresses may not qualify. Adjustments can be done in your home or at the factory, by replacing, adding or removing components. They can differ per side for couples.
After the free window, adjustments carry small fees that vary by size and materials, and delivery charges may apply. The brand doesn't publish the fee schedule (checked September 2026).
Warranty
All Verlo mattresses carry a 100 percent non-prorated warranty for defects in workmanship and materials, starting on delivery day. It's 3 years on v1 Basic, v1 Basic Pillowtop and v1 Bunk, and 5 years on other v1 models. It's 10 years on v3 and v5, 12 years on v7 and v9, and 15 years on v11 and vLatex.
Covered: coils or wires that break or poke through the fabric, body indentations of at least 1.5 inches, and loose or split foundation slats. Not covered: damage from an unsuitable foundation or frame, excessive weight, abuse or moving, fabric stains or burns, handles, and indentations under 1.5 inches.
The warranty isn't transferable, and shipping charges for service may apply. Claims go through your local showroom, and service is done at the local factory. It applies anywhere in the US, excluding transportation costs. Keep the law tag and your receipt.
Verlo Mattress vs. other brands
Verlo sits between online bed-in-a-box brands and big national retail brands. It makes mattresses to order in local factories and sells them in its own showrooms. You can test firm, plush, eurotop, foam and hybrid feels and get split-side tuning before you buy.
Against typical direct brands, Verlo wins on in-person testing, double-sided flippable builds and lifetime Comfort Adjustments. It loses on sleep trials, returns, refunds and published specs. Against large national retail brands, it stresses factory-direct pricing and more coils. The v1 line claims about 30 percent more than similarly priced innersprings. It also offers CoilMax builds from v7 and non-prorated warranties up to 15 years. Big brands usually offer wider availability and more third-party testing.
Test a v5 Firm or v7 Firm against a major-brand medium-firm hybrid at a similar price. Then weigh Verlo's no-return policy against a competitor's trial.
How we put this review together
We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
