Custom Mattress Factory Review

Custom Mattress Factory is an RV and custom-size specialty shop. It has handcrafted made-to-order mattresses in North Carolina since 2001. Its four-model RV line (Levi, Grayson, Kinsley and Kinsley Hybrid) covers any width, length, height, hinge or corner cut. It's best if your rig has an odd size. You won't get a sleep trial, because every bed is made to order. You do get a 10-year limited warranty and free shipping in the contiguous US.

Back and stomach sleepers can look at Levi RV (firm) or Grayson RV (medium-firm) for posture support. Side sleepers and couples can try Kinsley Hybrid in Soft or Medium. Pocketed coils and latex help with pressure relief and motion separation. Hot sleepers can pick the Grayson or Kinsley lines with open-cell cooling gel foam.

For tight bunks and slide-outs, choose Levi or Grayson in 4 to 6 inch heights to keep clearance. Full-time RVers who want maximum comfort should look at the Kinsley Hybrid 11-inch. For vintage frames, boats, trucks and circular frames, ask for a phone-quote custom build with hinge, dual-height or shaped-corner options.

Starting prices in September 2026 are listed as list price, then promo. Levi RV is $294 / $244 with $50 auto savings. Grayson RV is $485 / $385 with $100 auto savings. Kinsley RV is $630 / $530 with $100 auto savings. Kinsley Hybrid RV is $1,100 / $675.

Custom work adds cost. A hinge in any position, including tri-fold, is $150. A dual-height build is $50. Shaped corners are $25 per corner. The price is fair for true any-size, made-to-order USA builds with free contiguous-US shipping and certified foams. Promo-dependent pricing, paid custom upgrades and no published trial temper the headline value.

Levi RV has an Original Foam core, described as eco-friendly, plus an organic cotton cover. Grayson RV has a 2-inch open-cell cooling gel memory foam comfort layer over support foam, with an organic cotton cover. Both have CertiPUR-US certified builds.

Kinsley RV has cooling gel foam plus 2-inch latex with a cashmere-style top and certified foams. Kinsley Hybrid RV adds pocketed (encased) coil support under gel foam and latex, in three firmness options. The brand markets lightweight, breathable, travel-durable construction. It also sells Egyptian cotton fitted sheets and waterproof protectors. The brand doesn't publish full layer densities, coil counts or latex certifications (checked September 2026).

The brand markets dense made-to-order construction as durable for travel. The upper models add latex and pocketed coils for longer-haul resilience. It says you'll notice little comfort change past 6-inch thickness because the builds are so dense.

The brand doesn't publish third-party durability testing, expected-lifespan figures or sag-rate data. The backstop is a 10-year limited warranty. It covers indentations of 1.5 inches or more, foam splitting or cracking, and zipper defects. That applies to the first owner on sturdy support. Routine softening and comfort preference are excluded.

The site's feedback section reports 1,332 evaluations. About 93% are at the highest mark, about 4% at the next level, around 2% mid-level and about 1% each at the two lowest levels. Buyers often praise exact fit for odd frames and rigs, better rest and coziness, compact packaging with prompt arrival, and attentive phone and email service. Many camper, motor-home and van owners praise the fit for slide-outs, bunks, Murphy beds and Sprinter conversions.

Complaints are few. They include longer ship waits, higher prices and at least one duplicate-shipment error. The brand doesn't publish Trustpilot, BBB or Google ratings (checked September 2026).

Ordering is online with an exact-measure configurator. Widths run 20 to 76 in, lengths 40 to 80 in and heights 4 to 12 in, subject to model limits. The site adds a factory-tour page, workshop videos, a blog and a contact page. Production and dispatch points are Conover, North Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina. It also sells made-to-measure fitted sheets, protectors, comforters and platform frames.

Shipping is free within the contiguous United States. Regular and made-to-measure models arrive roll-packed in a box by FedEx Ground. Large models or orders with a base come curbside by LTL freight. Small extras go by FedEx Ground, Monday to Friday excluding holidays, with emailed tracking.

Build-to-ship times are 4 to 7 business days for Grayson, Kinsley and Kinsley Hybrid, and 1 to 2 weeks for Levi. Expedited custom builds arrive within two weeks, for $100 on custom sizes and $300 on oversize. Extra fees are possible for high-rise or unusual access. Production can be held until you're ready.

Setup and old-mattress removal aren't offered for RV models (checked September 2026). White-glove service comes only with the Grand Luxe oversize and family mattress. Unbox within 2 weeks. Final sizes may vary by up to one inch because of the soft construction.

The brand doesn't publish a sleep trial on its product, shipping, warranty or FAQ pages (checked September 2026). All beds are made to order. If a mattress arrives mis-sized, the brand says it will replace it right away, provided you tell it within 30 days of the error.

If you cancel after dispatch, you pay round-trip shipping plus up to a 10% restocking fee. The brand doesn't publish a general return window, exchange steps or who pays return shipping beyond that rule. It also doesn't say whether custom orders can be returned beyond the sizing-error promise.

The 10 Year Limited Mattress Warranty is for first-hand buyers only and isn't transferable. It applies in qualifying US and Canada areas, and clearance items are excluded. It runs 10 years from the buy date with ordinary domestic use on sturdy support. Trade and commercial users get 3 years.

It covers manufacturing flaws: visible indentation over 1.5 inches unrelated to poor support, foam splitting or cracking under ordinary handling, and zipper-assembly defects. It excludes softening over time, comfort preference, misuse, stains, burns, cuts, unauthorized sellers and used or as-is sales.

The maker chooses repair or replacement of the item or cover. If a send-back is needed, you don't pay those costs. Sheets and protectors carry 1 year each. Platform frames and furniture carry 2 years.

Against Adventure RV Mattress, both target RVers. Custom Mattress Factory builds any size, hinge, fold or corner cut to order with CertiPUR-US certified foams. Adventure RV sells fixed RV sizes with a 365-night trial and a 20-year warranty, but publishes no foam certifications.

Against Tochta and Brooklyn Bedding RV lines, rivals offer standard RV sizes with trials and free returns. Custom Mattress Factory wins on odd shapes and exact-fit custom work but publishes no trial. Against Mattress Insider, the USA hand-built RV positioning is similar. Custom Mattress Factory stands out with phone-quoted shaped-corner, dual-height and tri-fold engineering. Pick it for fit-first custom problems, and rivals for trial-backed standard sizes.
