Comfort Option Mattress Review
Comfort Option is an Indianapolis foam maker. It sells rebuildable all-foam mattresses with unglued, swappable layers, not sealed one-piece builds. The four Alpha models run from firm back-sleeper support to copper memory pressure relief, plus a 6-inch kids bunk bed. You get free rebuilds for 120 days and a 10-year warranty behind the fit-first promise. If your first build feels wrong, you swap layers instead of returning the bed. Out-of-area orders face backorder delays as of September 2026.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?
If you're a back sleeper or an on-top sleeper who wants the firmest feel, choose Alpha High Support. If you're a combination or all-position sleeper who wants a middle feel with bounce, choose Alpha Medium Support. If you're a side sleeper or have pressure-point pain and want deep cushioning without heat, choose Alpha Pressure Relief with copper-infused memory foam. Alpha Kids 6-inch suits kids, bunks, trundles and low floor frames.
Hot sleepers can add the optional QulCote cooling coating or choose Pressure Relief. If you're between firmnesses, use the 120-day rebuild window to swap layers rather than guessing once.
Mattress prices and value
Adult Alpha prices in USD, without and with the QulCote cooling coating, are the same across all three 10-inch models. Twin is $545 and $695. Twin XL is $545 and $695, but it's listed sold out. Full is $695 and $895. Queen is $795 and $1,045. King is $995 and $1,295. Cal King is $995 and $1,295. Alpha Kids is Twin $296 and Full $395. QulCote adds $150 (Twin), $200 (Full), $250 (Queen) or $300 (King or Cal King).
This is mid-range bed-in-box pricing with an unusual rebuild-instead-of-return model. The value is strongest if you're unsure about firmness and may need changes. It's weaker for bargain hunters, since budget foam rivals cost less. It's also weaker if you're outside Indianapolis and face backorder delays as of September 2026.
What are the mattresses made of?
These are all-foam, coil-free builds made in the USA from CertiPUR-US certified foams. The brand says they're made without FR chemicals, fiberglass or other harmful chemicals. Adult 10-inch Alphas have three unglued layers. Two are 2-inch comfort layers. The third is a 6-inch 1.8-lb base whose top 2 inches are convoluted as a transition into a dense 4-inch core. Corner pegs hold them inside a pre-assembled textile shell.
High Support uses medium-firm hybrid plus high-resilience foam. Medium uses two hybrid foams. Pressure Relief uses copper-infused plus high-support memory foam. Kids 6-inch has 2-inch slow-release foam over a 4-inch convoluted 1.8-density base. Optional QulCote is a water-based polymer coating sprayed on the foam, with micro-capsules said to regulate body temperature. The brand doesn't publish latex, coils, GOTS or OEKO-TEX claims.
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Foam densities (1.8-lb base, 2.5 to 2.9-lb comfort layers) sit at or above typical bed-in-box specs. The brand cites 80,000-compression testing with under 1% height loss and a 15-plus-year use expectation. The unglued rebuildable design is the durability edge. You can swap worn or wrong-feel layers under the 120-day Comfort Commitment, or later through the Forever Partnership, instead of replacing the whole bed.
There are limits. The 10-year warranty treats only sag over 1 inch as a defect. Comfort-preference changes are excluded. The brand doesn't publish long-term owner durability reviews (checked September 2026).
Customer reviews and complaints
On-site customer reviews name the Alpha Medium Support and Alpha Pressure Relief. Reviewer excerpts describe free rebuilds when the original construction was wrong, and sounder rest afterward. The brand doesn't publish aggregate star ratings or review counts (checked September 2026). It doesn't publish independent third-party ratings or complaints from BBB, Trustpilot or Google either. We couldn't verify any recurring defect pattern.
Read current on-site reviews and ask the company for references before you buy, since outside verification is thin.
Where can you try and buy?
You can only try and buy direct. That's the official site, comfortoption.com, plus the single Indianapolis showroom at Fashion Mall at Keystone, 8702 Keystone Crossing Unit 135, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Hours are Monday to Saturday 10am to 7pm and Sunday 12pm to 5pm. Call 317-559-0616 or email sales@comfortoption.com. The online contact form has office hours Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm EST.
We found no other retailers, and no Amazon, Walmart or Wayfair listings, as of September 2026. The site banner says that due to production delays, all mattresses are on backorder for customers outside the Indianapolis area.
Delivery, setup and removal
Mattresses are built to order and generally expected to ship within 5 business days. You get a FedEx tracking fulfillment notice, with no automatic status updates. Report shipping problems within 48 hours of receipt and non-delivery within 24 hours of the stated date. Unbox within 48 hours and allow about 2 hours for the compressed foam to recover. You may need to open the cover to fluff layers and align the dowels. The brand describes interior yellowing as harmless oxidation.
You don't need a box spring. Any solid base or platform works. Sharp metal frames or true spring box springs can damage the bed. The brand doesn't publish old-mattress removal or white-glove setup (checked September 2026).
Sleep trial and returns
There's no standard boxed-return trial. Instead, a 30/90 Comfort Commitment gives you 120 days from delivery to rebuild the mattress with free swapped layers. Try the original build about 30 days first. You get a full refund if you never reach the right construction. The Alpha line FAQ also offers 30 days to return or buy an extra layer to adjust. Toppers are final sale. Exchanges mean layer swaps and reconstructions, not whole-bed swaps.
Rebuilds within 120 days are free. Afterward, the Forever Partnership lets you buy replacement foam or covers at material cost. There's no labor or delivery fee, and no expiration. Confirm current terms in writing before you order.
Warranty
Foamcraft, Inc. gives a 10-year limited mattress warranty to the original purchaser. The foam must be free from defects in materials and workmanship under ordinary use. Sag over 1 inch below the original level counts as a defect. Remedies are free replacement (new or refurbished), repair, or refund of the purchase price. The company pays replacement shipping or in-home repair. Pillows, toppers and Haven seating get a 2-year limited warranty, with a 2-inch threshold.
It doesn't cover comfort preference and feel changes or cover imperfections. It doesn't cover impressions under 1 inch (mattresses) or 2 inches (pillows and Haven). Abuse, unsanitary condition and improper use or care are excluded. Don't unzip the mattress cover or launder covers without instruction, or you'll void coverage. To file a claim, call 1-855-853-2981 or email sales@comfortoption.com with photos or an in-home visit. Replacement coverage runs the remainder of the original term or 90 days, whichever is longer.
Comfort Option vs. other brands
Against sealed bed-in-box foam brands (Casper, Nectar, Zinus), Comfort Option matches or beats their foam densities. It replaces the standard return with free 120-day rebuilds plus lifetime layer purchases. But it lacks their coil-hybrid options, nationwide showrooms and deep review histories. Against customizable latex makers (SleepEZ, FloBeds), it has a similar swap-layer philosophy at lower prices. Latex rivals offer longer warranties and proven decades-long durability.
Against local innerspring shops, it has no edge on bounce or edge support. Buy Comfort Option if rebuildability and made-to-order US foam matter most. Look elsewhere if you want coils, latex or instant nationwide delivery.
How we put this review together
We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
