Wilderness RV Mattress Review

Wilderness RV Mattress is an RV specialty brand that sells custom-built-to-order mattresses online, made in South Carolina. It has four models: Aspen and Canyon foam, Montana Hybrid with coils, and Dream Bunk for bunks. You can choose from 13 standard sizes, or size to the inch with corner cuts and hinges. You get a 100-night trial, a 10-year non-prorated warranty and free US shipping. It's best if you need an exact-fit RV bed. There are no stores, so you can't try one first.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Side sleepers and hot sleepers should look at the Aspen, the medium-plush contouring foam. Back sleepers and firm-feel fans can look at the Canyon, medium-firm at about 7/10. Full-timers and couples who want bounce, airflow and the coolest sleep should look at the Montana Hybrid. Choose Plush (about 5 to 6/10, the most popular), Firm (about 8/10) or Soft Pillowtop (softest).

For kids, guests, bunks and cab-over berths, the Dream Bunk is medium-firm 8/10 and only 6 in tall. The brand doesn't publish body-type or weight-limit guidance, so heavy sleepers have no published rating. The coil Montana sleeps coolest, while the Aspen and Canyon sleep warmer.

Mattress prices and value

These are sale prices as of September 2026, under a 30 percent off promotion. Dream Bunk starts at $300 for bunk sizes, $459 for standard or RV queen and $575 for RV kings. Canyon starts at $368 for a standard twin, $584 for a standard queen and $654 for an RV queen. King sizes run $760 to $834. Aspen starts at $522 for a standard twin, $695 for a standard queen and $764 for an RV queen. Olympic queen and king sizes are $937.

Montana Hybrid starts at $698 for a standard twin, $991 for a standard queen, $1,060 for an RV queen and $1,227 for an RV king. Shop Pay financing is 0 percent, about $58 per month on the Aspen. You'll pay a premium over mass-market Amazon RV mattresses. In return you get exact custom sizing, US build and a strong 10-year non-prorated warranty. Shipping is free to the 48 contiguous states and $149 to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada.

What are the mattresses made of?

All foams are CertiPUR-US certified and hand-built to order in South Carolina. The brand doesn't publish fiberglass content. The Aspen has a 1 in quilted knit comfort top, 2.5 in gel memory foam and a 6.5 in high-density base, 10 in total. The Canyon has a 1 in quilted cover, 2 in gel memory foam and a 5 in high-density poly base, 8 in total. The Dream Bunk has the same top with a 3 in base, 6 in total.

The Montana Hybrid has a quilted Euro top with a cooling cover, fast-response memory foam, a proprietary transition foam and 961 individually wrapped pocketed coils. It's 10 in, or 11 in on the pillowtop. The brand doesn't publish foam densities, ILD ratings or coil gauge. The FAQ lists no formaldehyde, no ozone depleters and no heavy metals. Any faint foam scent airs out within a day.

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Durability data is limited. The brand points to high-density base foams, CertiPUR-US foams, the Montana's 961-coil system and a 10-year non-prorated warranty that covers sagging over 1.5 in. That's a stronger term than most budget RV mattresses.

Rotate the bed 180 degrees every 3 to 6 months. Never flip it, since the beds are one-sided. Use a breathable protector, keep the law tag attached, and lift rather than drag or fold. The warranty needs a stable, level support. The brand doesn't publish independent long-term testing. One third-party RV video reported an unexpected issue after four months of use but gave no details.

Customer reviews and complaints

These ratings are brand-reported and not independently verified. The site shows 4.7 stars from 7,057 verified reviews. It breaks down as 91 percent 5-star, 5 percent 4-star, 2 percent 3-star, 1 percent 2-star and 1 percent 1-star. By model, the Aspen is 4.8 (617 reviews), the Montana Hybrid 4.7 (5,393), the Canyon 4.7 (390) and the Dream Bunk 4.7 (124). The site also shows inconsistent figures elsewhere, including 4.9 stars and 70,000+ customers.

The reviews page doesn't publish individual review text, names or dates, so you can't verify complaint themes. The brand says it doesn't buy, incentivize or filter reviews. Third-party YouTube reviews are mostly positive, with one critical title asking what happened after four months. We found no Trustpilot or BBB profile as of September 2026.

Where can you try and buy?

It's online only, direct at wildernessrvmattress.com. The company says it sells only online. It lists no showrooms, retail partners or dealer locations, so you can't try one in a store. A wholesale program is open to RV dealerships, repair businesses and campgrounds, but no partners are named. A 3D Custom Builder lets you size to the whole inch and add radius corners, angled cuts, notches and hinges. It also sells RV bedding accessories.

Call (888) 844-7701, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm CST. Email sales@wildernessrvmattress.com for orders and custom@w-rv.com for custom work. Phone operations are in Florida, and production is in South Carolina.

Delivery, setup and removal

Shipping is free by FedEx to the 48 contiguous states, with no minimum. Alaska, Hawaii and Canada pay a flat $149, which is non-refundable. Standard sizes ship in 7 to 10 business days and usually arrive 2 to 3 weeks after ordering. Custom sizes add 3 to 5 production days and arrive in 3 to 4 weeks. Transit is usually 3 to 5 business days.

Mattresses arrive compressed and rolled in a 17x17x42 in box that fits an RV door. They expand in 10 to 15 minutes, with corners filling in over 24 hours. You can sleep on one the same night. Delivery is to the door. The brand doesn't publish white-glove setup or old-mattress removal, and you're responsible for correct addresses.

Sleep trial and returns

The trial is 100 nights counted in calendar days from delivery. The brand asks you to sleep on it at least 30 nights first. Returns need email approval first. Then you donate the mattress to a local charity and send proof. You don't re-box or pay return shipping, and the refund is full. Hawaii, Alaska and Canada orders get the product price minus shipping. The trial is for new customers only, once per household.

Cancellations are free before production. Once it's in production or shipped, a $49 stocking fee applies. Shipped orders must be unopened in the original box within 30 days, and you pay return shipping. Custom sizes are excluded from the trial and can't be returned or cancelled once in production. A 50 percent off replacement is offered. The company isn't responsible for wrong size or firmness choices, and about 1 in of variance is possible.

Warranty

The 10-year limited warranty is non-prorated, so day one coverage equals year nine. It's for the original buyer in the US and Canada only. It covers sagging or impressions over 1.5 in on a suitable base, cover defects like unraveling seams, and zipper failure in normal use. It excludes normal foam softening, comfort preference changes, water or humidity damage, improper foundations, cuts, burns, tears, harsh cleaning, neglect and unsanitary conditions.

Keep the law tag attached and readable. Use a stable, level support, rotate every 3 to 6 months, and use a breathable protector. Spot clean only. Send claims to returns@w-rv.com with your order number and clear photos. The reply target is 3 to 5 business days. The remedy is repair or replacement at the company's discretion. You pay shipping in, and the company ships back. Pillows and toppers have 3-year warranties, and custom mattresses may have modified terms.

Wilderness RV Mattress vs. other brands

RV specialty is the whole pitch. Wilderness builds only RV mattresses, in 13 standard sizes plus any dimension cut to the whole inch, with corner cuts and hinges. Mainstream bed-in-a-box brands don't offer that. Its real competition is mass-market RV mattresses on Amazon and Walmart, like Zinus, MLILY, Celestial Sleep, Dyonery and WanderRest. Those cover only a few RV sizes but cost less.

The brand isn't sold on Amazon, in stores or through dealers. You won't get in-store trials, white-glove delivery or removal. Its selling points are exact fit, US hand-building, a 100-night trial on standard sizes and a 10-year non-prorated warranty. It claims construction comparable to $1,500 to $3,000 to $4,000 retail mattresses.

How we put this review together

We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
