Wolf Mattress Review

Wolf Mattress is a Fort Wayne, Indiana heritage brand founded in 1873. It's still made in the USA at its own Fort Wayne, IN and East Windsor, CT factories. It sells five handcrafted memory foam hybrids factory-direct, from $749 to $1,699. You get free contiguous-US shipping, a 101-night trial and a limited lifetime warranty. It suits you if you want a plush, slow-responding bed and sleep on your side or back. If you sleep on your stomach or weigh over 230 lb, look elsewhere.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Side sleepers who want deep pressure relief and a sink-in feel should try the 14-inch Elite Plush Pillow Top or 13-inch Premium Plush. Back sleepers who want cushioning plus more lift can try the 13-inch Premium Firm or 14-inch Elite Medium Pillow Top. Stomach sleepers, and anyone who wants the firmest feel, should look at the 13-inch Premium Firm. All-position sleepers, guest rooms and budget buyers can look at the 12-inch Essential Medium Firm.

Couples and restless sleepers can pick any model. Motion isolation scored 4.7/5 (Mattress Clarity) and 5/5 (Sleepopolis). The cool-to-touch cover and convoluted gel foam earned 4/5 cooling scores. If you're over 230 lb or sit on the edge of the bed a lot, look elsewhere. Testers found these beds too soft and rated edge support only 3 to 3.5/5.

Mattress prices and value

Prices are factory-direct. Queens are $899 for the 12-inch Essential Medium Firm (Twin $749, Twin XL $799, Full $849, King $1,099). The 13-inch Premium Firm and Premium Plush are $1,199 each (Twin $1,049, Twin XL $1,099, Full $1,149, King $1,399). The 14-inch Elite Medium Pillow Top and Elite Plush Pillow Top are $1,499 each (Twin $1,349, Twin XL $1,399, Full $1,449, King $1,699).

Bundles save 15% when you pair a mattress with a Reverie base. The Queen 12-inch plus EZ Fold base bundle drops from $1,298 to $1,103.30. Military, veterans and first responders get 20% off through ID.me. Product pages advertise 0% APR for 18 months, and the financing partner isn't named on the page. Shipping is free in the contiguous US. Sleepopolis called the $1,499 queen a good value next to luxury beds that top $2,000. Mattress Clarity judged the $1,349 to $1,699 range affordable for the materials and performance.

What are the mattresses made of?

All five are hybrids. Each has a cool-to-touch cooling cover, rayon safeguard quilted fiber, convoluted cooling gel foam, gel memory foam, and comfort and transition support foams. The gel memory foam is 1 inch on the Essential, 1.5 inches on the Premium and 2 inches on the Elite. Under that sits an 8-inch individually wrapped coil unit with reinforced thicker-gauge edge rows, and a balanced base layer.

The brand lists the Essential as 7 layers with 3 inches of CertiPUR-certified foam, and the Premium models as 9 layers. It lists the Elite models as 9 numbered layers, while the marketing copy says 10 layers of comfort with a 3-inch pillow top. That's a small inconsistency on Wolf's own pages. The Elite adds anti-microbial materials. There's no fiberglass. Wolf says its rayon fiber barrier is inherently flame retardant and untreated. All foam is CertiPUR certified, and the cover isn't removable.

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Wolf covers every mattress with a limited lifetime warranty. It reports no weight limit and says the beds are tested for durability up to 500 lb. Mattress Clarity and Sleepopolis each scored the warranty 4.5 out of 5. Testers were more cautious about long-term softness. Mattress Clarity said it would be mindful of premature sagging on the plush Elite. It also noted the very soft foams compress deeply at the edges, a wear risk for heavier sleepers.

Keeping coverage requires a solid foundation, no cover removal and no stains or liquid damage. Sagging blamed on an improper base is excluded. The brand doesn't publish multi-year owner follow-ups or foam-density specs (checked September 2026).

Customer reviews and complaints

Wolf shows no customer reviews on its product pages, and its Sitejabber profile shows 0 reviews. We couldn't find BBB, Trustpilot, Yelp or Reddit ratings in September 2026, so there's no public star average. Experts are positive. Sleepopolis scored the 14-inch Elite Plush Pillow Top 4 out of 5 overall (motion isolation 5, cooling 4, pressure relief 4, edge support 3, trial period 3.5, warranty 4.5). Mattress Clarity's 2026 review also scored it 4.0 (pressure relief 4, edge support 3.5, cooling 4, motion isolation 4.7, response 3, 4.75-inch sinkage, sex 3.8, trial 4, warranty 4.5).

WIRED published a positive review on July 29, 2025, of the Memory Foam Hybrid Premium Firm. The brand's press page quotes praise, a NY Post Most Breathable Mattress badge and a 2024 Sleepverse award for Best Mattress of the Year for Couples. Common criticisms are that it's too soft for stomach sleepers and sleepers over 230 lb. Edge support is only average, and there's almost no bounce. The policies trail Nectar's 365-night trial.

Where can you try and buy?

Buy direct at wolfmattress.com, or visit the only store, the Wolf Mattress Factory Store at 3434 S Maplecrest Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46803. The phone is (260) 766-6233. Hours are Tuesday to Friday 11am to 7pm and Saturday 9am to 3pm (the contact page lists Saturday 10am to 4pm instead). It's closed Sunday and Monday.

Sleep specialists also help by phone at 1-800-642-9653 or by email at support@wolfmattress.com. Customer service runs Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm. Hotels and resorts can request a quote through the contact form. Wolf's FAQ says it limited retail locations on purpose to keep factory-direct prices low. The official store locator shows only the Fort Wayne store, and we found no authorized retailers or marketplace listings (checked September 2026).

Delivery, setup and removal

Ground shipping is free within the contiguous US only. Wolf doesn't ship to Alaska, Hawaii, PO boxes, APO/FPO addresses or other countries. Each mattress is made to order in about 2 to 3 days. The FAQ says to expect delivery 5 to 7 days after ordering. The shipping policy says 3 to 5 business days for processing plus 7 to 10 business days for delivery. Orders ship from the Fort Wayne, IN or East Windsor, CT factory. Larger items may ship by freight with a scheduled delivery call, and a signature may be required.

The mattress arrives compressed in a box. Place it on your foundation, cut the plastic with the included opener and let it expand for 24 to 48 hours in a ventilated room. Expect some temporary off-gassing. The brand doesn't publish old-mattress removal or white-glove setup (checked September 2026). But the refund policy mentions optional in-home delivery and service fees, so in-home service seems available on some orders.

Sleep trial and returns

Every mattress has a 101-night trial with a 30-night minimum. You must sleep on it at least 30 days before you ask for a return. It's limited to one refund per household, defined by your name plus shipping or billing address. After day 30 you contact support, and Wolf arranges the return, exchange or refund. There are no restocking fees and no shipping costs on an exchange.

On a refund, shipping and in-home delivery or service fees aren't refundable. Wolf refunds only after a donation partner confirms pickup or you give suitable proof of disposal. Send all documents within 30 days of the request, or you'll need to resubmit. A mattress left unopened 90 days after delivery counts as misused and isn't eligible for returns or warranty claims. The trial and warranty are void once the mattress leaves the US.

Warranty

The limited lifetime warranty covers the original buyer only and can't be transferred. It covers visible impressions of 1.5 inches or more that aren't caused by an improper foundation, box spring or platform. It covers craftsmanship flaws that permanently damage the foam or coils under normal use, and cover defects such as fabric tearing or unraveling. Wolf charges nothing to repair or replace a defective mattress for 20 years from purchase. You pay any transportation or shipping costs. Replacements match the original model and size, or a like build if it's discontinued, and carry no new warranty.

It doesn't cover comfort preference, normal foam softening, allergies, abuse, burns, cuts, tears, liquid damage, stains, mold, odor or discoloration. It also excludes damage from an improper frame or base, unauthorized resellers, and as-is, used, reconditioned or comfort-return products. Removing the cover voids the warranty. Disputes go to binding arbitration under Delaware law. The warrantor is Blue Bell Mattress Company, LLC, 24 Thompson Rd, East Windsor, CT 06088, effective August 15, 2023. You register on the warranty registration page. Factory-store purchases may have different terms, and mattresses shipped outside the US are excluded.

Wolf Mattress vs. other brands

Wolf's pitch is factory-direct. Buying straight from its Fort Wayne and East Windsor plants lets it claim prices approximately half of what competitors charge for similar quality. Every mattress is made in the USA with CertiPUR foam, an 8-inch pocketed coil unit and a limited lifetime warranty.

Sleepopolis compared the 14-inch Elite Plush Pillow Top with Nectar. The Wolf did better in every tested category and was almost $900 cheaper at full retail. But Nectar's 365-night trial and deeper sales made it cheaper on sale and better on policies. Mattress Clarity judged Wolf affordable next to $2,000-plus luxury hybrids. Against mainstream bed-in-a-box brands, Wolf has a smaller five-model lineup, no showrooms outside Fort Wayne and a 101-night trial. In return you get American manufacturing, coil-and-foam construction, a 20% military and first-responder discount and factory-direct value.
