Thomas Payne Mattress Review

Thomas Payne is the RV furniture brand of Lippert Components Inc (LCI). Its Premium RV Mattress is a 10-inch all-foam model sold in four RV sizes. Retailer prices run from about $490 to about $600. It carries a 10-year warranty and a 6-month compression guarantee. It's best if you're an RVer replacing a thin factory mattress. The caveat is what's missing. The brand doesn't publish a sleep trial or returns terms, and it doesn't publish foam certifications. Check the seller's return policy before you buy.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Side sleepers of average weight get contouring from the 1-inch charcoal-gel memory-foam comfort layer over a thick foam base. Pressure relief is limited by that thin comfort layer. Back sleepers of average weight upgrading from a hard factory pad should like the medium-feel all-foam profile. The brand doesn't publish exact firmness. Stomach sleepers will likely find 10 inches too soft or thick.

Hot sleepers get charcoal cooling gel, temperature-regulating moisture-wicking materials and breathability. The brand doesn't publish cooling-test data. Couples should get damped motion from an all-foam build, but motion-isolation data is unpublished. The 1.56 lb base-foam density is published. The brand does not publish a weight limit or edge-support spec for heavier sleepers (checked September 2026).

Mattress prices and value

We saw these retailer prices at United RV Parts in September 2026. Short Queen is $489.99, Queen is $499.99, Narrow King is $559.99 and Short King is $599.99. That's a span of about $490 to about $600. We couldn't verify list prices at Lippert.com because its site showed a bot-verification wall. Treat the retailer prices as your working band.

It's mid-priced for an RV-specific 10-inch foam mattress with published foam densities, a fiberglass-free barrier claim and a 10-year warranty. The weaker value signals are the thin 1-inch comfort layer and no published trial or returns terms. There are also no foam certifications to justify a premium over value RV foam rivals.

What are the mattresses made of?

It's a two-layer all-foam build, per LCI and retailer specs. The top is a 1-inch layer of 2.2 lb memory foam infused with charcoal cooling gel. The brand markets it to eliminate odors naturally, promote airflow, regulate temperature and absorb moisture. Under it sits a 9-inch comfort-and-support base layer of 1.56 lb foam. The cover uses smart temperature-regulating, moisture-wicking materials. The Eco Flex fiberglass-free mattress barrier is LCI's contrast with other brands' fiberglass barriers.

All materials are described as safe for skin and RV use. It has no latex and no coils, so it isn't a latex or hybrid model. The brand does not publish foam ILDs, cover fabric content or certifications such as CertiPUR-US, GREENGUARD, GOTS or GOLS (checked September 2026).

How well do the mattresses hold up?

We found no independent durability testing. The main evidence is the published densities: 2.2 lb comfort foam and 1.56 lb base foam. The dual-foam 10-inch profile is thicker than many thin factory RV pads it replaces. LCI backs the line with a 10-year warranty plus a 6-month compression guarantee, per its 2020 launch announcement. That suggests you can expect a lifespan at least to the warranty term.

The brand does not publish sag-depth thresholds, cover-wear terms, foundation or bunk-platform specs, or care instructions (checked September 2026).

Customer reviews and complaints

The brand does not publish aggregated star ratings or review counts for the mattress itself (checked September 2026). That covers Lippert, Google, BBB, Trustpilot and Amazon. United RV Parts product pages have review fields with no data. Amazon results under the Thomas Payne name showed bedding and protectors, not this mattress.

We found creator coverage on YouTube. One Campoholics review says Lippert sent the mattress and that the reviewers love it. Love Your RV posted an RV foam review linking the LCI store. There are also rally-based review features. You should treat these as enthusiast impressions, not independent lab tests, and they may carry gifted-product bias. We found no verifiable complaint themes. The likely friction points are the thin comfort layer for heavier sleepers and return terms that depend on the retailer.

Where can you try and buy?

You can buy direct at lippert.com, on the Thomas Payne Premium RV Mattress pages and the Thomas Payne mattresses collection. It's also sold through RV dealers, with in-store displays announced at launch. Contact an LCI sales representative for dealer availability.

Resellers include United RV Parts (four sizes listed) and Dyers Online (four size pages, but its site was unavailable when we checked). Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's also list it. Thomas Payne bedding, sheet sets and protectors are also on Amazon and Young Farts RV Parts. The brand does not publish showrooms or in-person tryout locations (checked September 2026). Try it at a stocked RV dealer if you can. Thomas Payne is Lippert's RV furniture line (seating, dinettes, bedding), not a standalone mattress company.

Delivery, setup and removal

It ships compressed and double-bagged in a single box that fits through any RV entry door, per LCI's launch announcement. United RV Parts repeats the compressed, double-bagged boxed shipping. The brand does not publish shipping cost, speed, carrier or geographic limits at lippert.com (checked September 2026). Its pages were behind a bot wall when we checked.

The brand does not publish in-home setup, white-glove service or old-mattress removal. You install it yourself, and you can do that at home or on the road. The brand also leaves out boxed-mattress expansion times and frame or platform requirements.

Sleep trial and returns

The brand does not publish a sleep trial at lippert.com (checked September 2026). It also doesn't publish returns or exchanges for mattresses bought direct from Lippert. Purchases from United RV Parts, Dyers Online, Bass Pro, Cabela's and dealers follow each seller's own shipping and return policies. We didn't verify them model by model.

The brand does not publish restocking, return-shipping or disposal fees for this mattress. Confirm the trial, return window and who pays return freight in writing with the actual seller before you order.

Warranty

The manufacturer, Lippert Components, gives a 10-year warranty plus a 6-month compression guarantee. That's per LCI's September 2020 launch announcement, carried by RVBusiness. The brand does not publish coverage detail, sag-depth thresholds, prorated or non-prorated terms, exclusions, transferability or claim steps (checked September 2026).

Bedding, sheets, protectors and bed extenders carry their own separate terms, which we didn't verify, so you'll want to ask. Keep proof of purchase. Confirm the current warranty text with Lippert or the selling dealer before you buy.

Thomas Payne vs. other brands

Against Tochta, a custom RV specialist, Thomas Payne wins on lower mid-range pricing and published foam densities. It loses on custom sizing, firmness choice and European-style configurability. Against Comfort RV Mattresses, Thomas Payne wins on price, about $490 to $600 versus about $1,195 to $2,095, and on published densities. It loses on model breadth, latex and hybrid options, and top warranty length (10 versus up to 15 years).

Against Dynasty Mattress RV, Thomas Payne wins on the fiberglass-free barrier story and 10-year warranty headline. It loses on budget assortment depth and marketplace review volume. Against standard bed-in-a-box all-foam brands, Thomas Payne wins on true RV sizes and RV-door-friendly compressed packaging. It loses on sleep trials, free returns and certification transparency.
