ReST Bed Mattress Review

ReST Bed was a US smart airbed brand from Responsive Surface Technology in Atlanta. It paired 13 inches of gel memory foam with 3 or 5 pressure-sensing air zones per side, plus an app and NightVision sleep tracking. Prices ran from $4,274 to $8,548, with a 90-night trial and a 10-year non-prorated warranty. It suits couples and people with pain. The big catch is that orders have been paused since early 2023, and both official domains are now parked. You can't buy it today.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Sleep Foundation scores the bed by position and weight on a 10-point scale. Side sleepers get 9.5 under 130 lbs, 9.5 at 130 to 230 lbs and 6.5 above 230 lbs. Back sleepers get 9.5, 6.5 and 6.5. Stomach sleepers get 6.5, 5 and 5.

Firmness runs from soft (3) to firm (8) with three app modes. Manual lets you lock any zone. Auto-Position switches presets as you roll. Automatic re-inflates each zone as you move. Couples get fully separate left and right control, and the brand claims there isn't a gap between sleepers.

Side sleepers should keep shoulders and hips soft and the lumbar firmer. Back sleepers do well with a medium-firm to firm lumbar setting. Testers rated ease of movement only 5/10 and temperature control 6.5/10, so combination sleepers and hot sleepers should take note.

Mattress prices and value

Sleep Foundation's 2026 review lists $4,274 for a Twin XL up to $8,548 for a Split King or Split California King. Sleep Advisor (updated May 15, 2026) lists Queen at $5,649 and Queen Split Top at $6,649. It lists Eastern King and California King at $6,549. Eastern King Split Top is $7,149 and California King Split Top is $6,949.

Earlier official lists were lower. The Original ran $3,999 to $7,998 and the Gel Grid version $3,299 to $7,598 (archived 2021). The Essential ran $2,499 to $5,498 (archived November 2020). The Easy / Single Pump ran $3,499 to $6,998 (archived July 2022).

The brand's own table showed ReST at $5,099 against $5,199 for Sleep Number 360 i10 and $3,595 for Eight Sleep Pod Pro Max. Add-ons included white sheets at $194.99 and mattress removal at $99 and the BedJet 3 at $389 to $399 ($899 to $999 for dual zone). White-glove delivery cost $199 in 2019, then became free for US customers from February 15, 2021. Financing was interest-free through SplitIt with no credit check.

What are the mattresses made of?

It's a 13-inch modular airbed with four layers. The cover is Sleep Skin performance fabric. It's moisture-wicking, breathable, zippered and machine washable. A sensor layer of antimicrobial nylon-polyester blend with bonded silver reads about 2,000 pressure points. Sleep Foundation describes 1,000 data points per side.

The comfort layer is 4 inches of gel-infused memory foam, then 1 inch of transition foam. Mattress Clarity's review describes a 1 inch and a 2 inch gel memory foam layer plus 1 inch of polyfoam. GelGrid models use 2 inches of foam blend plus 2 inches of GelGrid.

Support comes from five medical-grade polyurethane air chambers per side, ten in total, covering head, shoulders, lumbar, hips and legs. They're RF-welded to prevent leaks. The 3-zone models cover shoulders, lumbar and hips. Parts are replaceable one at a time, so you won't replace the whole bed. Sleep Advisor reports CertiPUR-US foams and US manufacture. The brand does not publish GREENGUARD Gold, OEKO-TEX or an origin statement (checked September 2026).

How well do the mattresses hold up?

The warranty is 10 years, full and non-prorated, for the original purchaser only. Because the bed is modular, ReST pays the full cost of a replacement part plus shipping for 10 years from delivery. Parts typically ship in 1 to 3 days, or up to 5 to 7 business days depending on location.

There are no independent lab durability results. Sleep Foundation's durability score of 8/10 and Mattress Clarity's 4/5 are tester assessments. The bigger question is service. ReST hasn't accepted orders since early 2023 and has made no closure announcement. Both domains were parked on September 22, 2026, so you can't confirm parts or warranty service. One 2026 reviewer also says the NightVision app stopped delivering nightly data.

Customer reviews and complaints

The brand's reviews page showed 4.76 from 618 verified reviews on January 20, 2026. Owners praise pain relief, deep sleep, split-king independence for couples and helpful service. Third-party scores are Sleep Foundation 8.3/10, Mattress Clarity 4.1/5 (support 4.5/5) and Sleep Advisor 4.4/5. No Sleepless Nights filed it under Discontinued Products.

Sleep Foundation's sub-scores are motion isolation 8/10, pressure relief 8/10, durability 8/10, edge support 6.5/10, temperature control 6.5/10, ease of movement 5/10 and off-gassing 6.5/10.

Complaints include pump noise in Auto-Position and Automatic modes, app and connection drops, and a NightVision feed that stopped. Setup takes at least 30 minutes and needs outlets and under-bed space. The foam feel is low-bounce and warm. The BBB and Trustpilot pages were unavailable when we checked in September 2026. Sitejabber shows 0 reviews for restbed.com.

Where can you try and buy?

ReST sold direct online at restbed.com, which redirected to restperformance.com, and through dealers. Sleep Foundation says it was in more than 150 US stores. Denver Mattress Company announced national distribution on March 27, 2017, starting in 17 stores across 8 states. The brand also ran a Virtual Mattress Store for live video demos.

None of these channels sells the bed today. Both official sites were parked on September 22, 2026. The Mattress Factory's ReST page shows no products. We saw no current Amazon or Wayfair listings. ReST also sold air-element kits to other mattress makers, archived March 2023, with a Las Vegas showroom at booth C1552. Sales and support were at 888-588-1349.

Delivery, setup and removal

Delivery was white-glove only. A two-person crew unboxed, set up and cleaned up in about 20 minutes, and called a day ahead. It cost $199 in 2019. Sleep Foundation says it became free for US customers from February 15, 2021. Canada added $199, for $398 total, and Alaska and Hawaii had extra fees. Orders typically shipped within 3 days, with 3 to 7 days in transit.

Old-mattress removal was a $99 add-on. The bed works with any adjustable base, a box spring or a frame. For warranty validity you need a 5- or 6-legged metal frame for queen and king, or a 4-legged frame for Twin XL. You also need under-bed space for the pump and hoses, nearby outlets and ideally a surge protector.

Sleep trial and returns

Direct purchases came with a 90-night in-home trial and a money-back guarantee. There wasn't a break-in period, so you could start a return any night. Sleep Foundation reports a full refund with no restocking fees. Sleep Advisor reports a $199 shipping fee even inside the trial.

Beds bought from other retailers followed that retailer's policy. The brand does not publish an exchange program (checked September 2026). Since orders stopped in early 2023, you can't start a new trial or return today. Owners can only email support@restperformance.com.

Warranty

The warranty is 10 years, non-prorated, for the original purchaser only. ReST warrants the bed against defects in workmanship and materials and says it stays in working order under normal use. Covered parts are pumps, sensors, support foam layers, edge support rails, air chambers and the removable cover. ReST pays for the part and shipping.

Exclusions include normal wear and tear and body impressions of 1.5 inches or less. Abuse or burn damage isn't covered. The bundled tablet has its own one-year maker warranty. You need a 5- or 6-legged metal frame for queen and king, or a 4-legged frame for Twin XL. Most platform beds are fine. Claims went to warranty@restperformance.com or 888.588.1359.

The brand doesn't publish whether it still honors claims (checked September 2026), and it hasn't taken orders since early 2023.

ReST Bed vs. other brands

Against Sleep Number 360, ReST claimed five adjustable zones per sleeper versus one, no gap between sleepers, a non-prorated 10-year warranty and any-base compatibility. Sleep Number is still sold and serviced, so it wins on availability. Eight Sleep Pod Pro Max cost less ($3,595 in the brand's table), adds heating and cooling, and is still sold.

Saatva Solaire is the closest airbed still sold. It wins on price, a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty. ReST wins on zone count and pressure-map data. Tempur-Pedic and other foam beds are simpler and more certain to last. Purple is cheaper and still sold, and ReST licensed its GelFlex Grid for the Gel Grid models.

Since the brand's stopped taking orders, you'll want to compare only against beds you can still buy and get serviced.

How we put this review together

We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.

Quick answers before you buy

Can I still buy a ReST Bed?

No. ReST hasn't accepted new orders since early 2023. An archived copy of the brand's site from February 15, 2026 still showed that notice. Both domains were parked on September 22, 2026.

How much did a ReST Bed cost?

Sleep Foundation lists $4,274 for a Twin XL to $8,548 for a Split King. Earlier official lists ran $3,999 to $7,998 for the Original, $3,299 to $7,598 for Gel Grid, $2,499 to $5,498 for the Essential and $3,499 to $6,998 for the Easy. The final comparison table showed $5,099.

How many firmness zones does it have?

There are three per side on the Essential, Easy, Single Pump and Pump-in-Bed (shoulders, lumbar, hips). There are five per side on the Original, 5-Zone and 5-Zone with GelGrid (head, shoulders, lumbar, hips, legs). Each sleeper adjusts independently.

What base or frame do I need?

It works with any adjustable base, a box spring or a standard frame. The warranty needs a 5- or 6-legged metal frame for queen and king, or a 4-legged one for Twin XL. You also need under-bed space and outlets for the pump and hoses.

What happens in a power cut?

The bed keeps its last firmness setting instead of deflating. It can adjust again when power returns. ReST recommended a surge protector for the pump electronics.

What were the trial and warranty?

You got a 90-night in-home trial with a money-back guarantee on direct purchases, plus a 10-year non-prorated warranty. Returns reportedly carried a $199 shipping charge. You can't confirm warranty service after 2023, and it doesn't look like the brand is answering.
