Popular Mattress Factory Review

Popular Mattress Factory is the house-made mattress line of Popular Mattress, a family-owned El Paso, Texas factory-retailer operating since 1939. Its US-made premium range spans 13 comfort-and-support lines, in firm to soft feels. You can buy it only in its three El Paso showrooms, alongside Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Simmons and Stearns and Foster. The biggest catch is that no house-model names, prices or specs are published online, so you'll need to visit.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Side sleepers should ask in store for the softer lines of the 13-line house range, and test pressure relief on your side. No model-level firmness map is published. Back sleepers will likely fit the medium and firm house options, with innerspring support positioned for alignment. Confirm with a 10-minute in-store rest test.

Stomach sleepers should ask for the firmest house lines to limit sink. Weight-specific guidance isn't published (checked September 2026). Hot sleepers won't find cooling specs for the house line. Compare breathability of the innerspring house models against Tempur-Pedic breeze models in store.

Heavier sleepers should ask staff about coil gauge, edge support and the thickest support builds. Couples should test motion and edge support together in the showroom, since house-line performance data isn't published.

Mattress prices and value

The brand doesn't publish house-line prices (checked September 2026). It states only a wide price range so everyone can find a fit, with factory-direct savings against national brands.

National-brand online reference prices from popularmattress.myshopify.com are Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid Queen $999 and Plus Hybrid Queen $1,199. Pro Hybrid varies. Tempur-Pedic models go up to about $10,798. Adjustable bases run $899 to $25,349 for split-king smart configurations. The S and F Flat foundation is $240 to $480.

Financing is 0 percent for up to 60 months on approved credit through Synchrony or Wells Fargo. No-credit-needed plans come through Acima, Progressive and Koalafi. The factory-direct value story is credible, backed by 85-plus years of local making. But you can't verify value without house-line street prices, so compare prices in store against the national brands on the same floor.

What are the mattresses made of?

Per the official brand page, the house line is US-designed and US-manufactured innerspring-supported mattresses. It spans 13 comfort-and-support lines with firm-to-soft options. The brand doesn't publish coil type and count, foam densities and ILDs, comfort-layer thicknesses, cover and quilt details, fire barrier or adhesives (checked September 2026).

National-brand construction (Sealy, Stearns and Foster, Tempur-Pedic) follows each maker's spec and is partly described on retailer product listings. The brand doesn't publish CertiPUR-US, OEKO-TEX, GOTS, GOLS or Greenguard certifications for the house line. There are no cutaway diagrams, so confirm construction detail in store or with staff.

How well do the mattresses hold up?

The store warrants the house line directly. Per the official FAQ, relief generally applies when body impression exceeds 1.5 inches. Some models use a 0.75-inch threshold, per the warranty card. Normal softening is expected and excluded. You need a suitable base with center mid-support on Queen, King and California King frames. Staining, soiling or smoke damage puts coverage at risk.

The company has made mattresses as a family since 1939. It was founded by John George Yapor and now operates from its own El Paso facility. That's the brand's own account, not independent verification. We found no independent durability testing, such as rollator, ASTM sag or third-party longevity tests.

Customer reviews and complaints

The homepage shows shopper testimonials. They praise courteous, unhurried staff, on-time skilled delivery, comfort and back-pain relief, and fair value. No defect or warranty claims show there. We found no on-site star-rating system.

Google, Yelp, BBB, Sleep Foundation and RTINGS ratings weren't available in September 2026, so we state no verified rating. We found no complaint themes. Popular is a three-showroom local retailer. Its feedback lives in store conversations and map listings, and the house line has no buyable product page to collect reviews.

Where can you try and buy?

You can try and buy at three El Paso showrooms. West is at 640 Sunland Park Dr, El Paso, TX 79912, phone (915) 584-3000. Central is at 7230 Gateway Blvd E, Suite H, El Paso, TX 79915, phone (915) 779-7075. East is at 12211 Montwood Dr, El Paso, TX 79938, phone (915) 261-7677.

Hours are Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sleep specialists are available 7 days a week, mainly at (915) 779-7075. There's also a contact page and Facebook and Instagram links. You can browse national-brand mattresses and bases at popularmattress.myshopify.com. The house line is showroom-only. The brand doesn't publish sibling brands that share the factory (checked September 2026).

Delivery, setup and removal

Delivery starts at $79, and the amount rises with distance from El Paso. There are occasional free-delivery offers. It covers all of El Paso and southwest Texas, plus all of New Mexico. That includes Las Cruces, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Alamogordo, Ruidoso, Roswell, Carlsbad, Pecos, Lordsburg, Midland, Odessa and Marfa. Other zones use dropship plus white glove.

Delivery is same day on all in-stock items. Made-to-order timing varies by availability and location. The crew carries the set inside and sets it up in your room of choice, including adjustable-base programming. Confirm any setup charges with staff.

Old-mattress haul-away can be arranged for drop-off day if you ask at purchase, with some exceptions. Confirm fees and swap rules in advance. Use a suitable foundation with center support on larger frames, per the FAQ warranty notes.

Sleep trial and returns

No at-home sleep trial length is published (checked September 2026). The store offers a comfort exchange policy instead. Allow at least 30 days from delivery for your body to adjust. Then exchanges are possible within 90 days of original delivery, for items of equal or greater value.

A $79 delivery fee applies, and a $300 manufacturer exchange fee applies for Tempur-Pedic mattresses. Special orders, special sizes, adjustable bases, clearance, floor models and protectors are final sale. Removing maker tags ends exchange eligibility.

Confirm exchange availability, fees and restocking terms with staff before you buy. Trial windows follow store policy, not a brand-direct trial.

Warranty

Warranties are split by line. National-brand mattresses fall under each maker's warranty. The house Popular line is warranted directly through the store. Sag relief generally applies when impression exceeds 1.5 inches, with some models at a 0.75-inch threshold, per the warranty card. Removing the tag doesn't end the warranty, but you may need proof of purchase, since the tag shows the production date.

It excludes normal softening and comfort preference. It also excludes use on an aged or unsuitable base, missing center support on Queen and larger frames, and stained, soiled or smoke-damaged beds. To file, contact any of the three El Paso showrooms with proof of purchase. The brand doesn't publish the full warranty card terms (checked September 2026), so ask for the card in store. The terms page says product warranties come from the manufacturer and follow their terms.

Popular Mattress Factory vs. other brands

Against Original Mattress Factory, both sell own-make beds in their own stores. Original publishes model names, specs and prices online, while Popular keeps its 13 house lines showroom-only. Against Texas Mattress Makers in Houston, both lean on local making and value, but Texas Mattress Makers publishes deeper build specs online.

Against Mattress Firm, Popular wins on own-make value and local service since 1939. Mattress Firm wins on store count, online checkout and published trial terms. Against Denver Mattress, both offer house-made value plus national brands. Denver publishes house-model specs and prices online, and Popular doesn't (checked September 2026).

How we put this review together

We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
