Nook Sleep Systems Mattress Review
Nook Sleep Systems was a Los Angeles brand that sold organic, breathable crib mattresses plus twin and full big-kid beds. Prices ran from $199 to $899. Its headlines were a 100-night crib trial and a lifetime crib-core warranty. It suited parents who wanted a certified nontoxic crib mattress. The big caveat is that the store closed between late 2023 and early 2024, and the site is now a parked page. You can't buy new, start a trial, or claim a warranty today.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?
Nook focused on cribs, not adult sleep positions. It published no adult feel, firmness scale or weight limit for any mattress.
Each crib core had two stages. You'd use the firm infant side first, then flip to the softer toddler side around 18 months. Nook said that depends on your child's size, weight and development, and it advised checking with a pediatrician. The infant side has folds or flaps where the fire barrier is glued. The toddler side is smooth.
The Pebble Twin and Pebble Full were its most supportive cores, aimed at kids outgrowing a crib. The brand pitched the full line as hypoallergenic, and breathability was the main selling point. It said that reduces overheating and suffocation risk.
Mattress prices and value
At the last catalog in June 2023, crib mattresses ran $199 to $439. The Mini Pure Organic 2.0 was $199, the Air 2.0 was $199 to $249, and the Pure Organic 2.0 Two-Stage was $439. The Stokke Sleepi model was $449 in 2021. The Pebble Twin was $699 and the Pebble Full was $899. Accessories ran roughly $79 to $149.
The flagship crept up from $369 in 2020 to $419 in October 2021 and $439 by June 2023. The Breeze and Dream Cotton were cut by 2023. That put Nook at the premium end, in the same band as Naturepedic's organic crib range. The twin and full beds competed with regular adult mattresses.
Nook discounted often. Newsletters gave 10% to 20% off, a 15% military discount ran, and by June 2023 a banner said SAVE 50% OFF ON ALL MATTRESSES. As of September 2026 you can't buy at these prices. Any Nook purchase now would be secondhand.
What are the mattresses made of?
Pure Organic version 1 was 25 lbs of organic coconut coir, natural rubber tree latex and organic wool. Version 2 was 19 lbs of organic cotton, corn fiber, glass-free rayon, coir and latex. The Breeze was 7 lbs of CertiPUR-US foam. Dream Cotton was 20 lbs of upcycled denim. The Air was 9 lbs of CertiPUR-US foam. The Mini Pure Organic was 14 lbs, and version 2 was 11 lbs. The Pebble Twin and Full were each 34 lbs.
The zip-on 3D SafeSleep cover came in pebble, dimple or print styles. Pebble used organic cotton and eucalyptus lyocell. Print used organic jersey cotton. A cheaper Basic Cover cut the warranty to 90 days and ruled out the 100-night trial. The pebble and dimple fabric is water resistant, not waterproof. Small spills bead up for about 90 minutes. Wash it inside out, cold, and line dry or tumble low. Skip fabric softener, chlorine bleach and dryer sheets.
Nook listed GREENGUARD Gold, GOTS, Oeko-Tex, CertiPUR-US, Oregon Tilth Certified Organic, FSC and bluesign. GOTS needs at least 95 percent organic fiber. CertiPUR-US foam keeps VOC emissions under 0.5 ppm. The line isn't organic across the board, and it doesn't claim to be. Only the Pure Organic family was organic from core to cover. We found no independent chemical tests, so all certification claims come from the brand.
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Warranty length is the main evidence, and it's brand-reported. Crib cores carried a limited lifetime warranty with a Pebble, Dimple or Print cover, or 90 days with a Basic Cover. Big-kid cores had 10 years. Covers had 1 year, DreamSheets 180 days and Basic Covers 90 days. Nook published no sag depth, density or indentation figure, so you can't compare durability by numbers.
Nook doesn't cover normal wear or improper care. It also said hand-sewing variation, natural pilling and blue or brown glue color at the fire-barrier seams aren't defects. We found no independent durability testing. An all-latex and coir core should resist sagging better than foam. The foam models are likelier to soften. Compressed models need 48 to 72 hours to expand.
The lifetime warranty was only as durable as the company. Its practical value ended when Nook stopped operating.
Customer reviews and complaints
Brand-site ratings were the main reviews, and they're self-hosted. Pure Organic scored 4.9 out of 5 from 36 reviews. Breeze scored 4.8 from 20 reviews. Dream Cotton scored 5.0. Air scored 4.9. Mini Pure Organic scored 4.6 on the landing page and 4.8 from 20 reviews on the 2.0 page. The Stokke Sleepi model scored 5.0. The Pebble Twin scored 5.0 from 30 reviews, and the Pebble Full scored 4.9 from 7.
Reviewers were parents who praised better sleep, breathability once a baby rolled over, and no odor. One mini crib reviewer said it fit a Babyletto Origami crib. The Mini page also showed 1-star and 3-star reviews, so the ratings weren't scrubbed.
Outside reviews are thin. SmartCustomer shows 0 reviews. We couldn't find a Better Business Bureau rating, and the brand's site was unavailable when we checked in September 2026. We found no Trustpilot page or Amazon or Target listing. Nook said the Breeze was top-ranked by Safety.com, but we couldn't verify that.
Where can you try and buy?
Nook sold direct at nooksleep.com. Support ran by phone at 310-417-8220, email and web chat, 8AM to 5PM Pacific, Monday through Friday. A store locator listed roughly 48 shops across the US and Canada, mostly independent baby boutiques. Examples were Sprout San Francisco in Chicago and Salt Lake City, Galt Baby in Illinois, and West Coast Kids in Winnipeg. Nook never named its factory, and it didn't say who made its beds.
The site went dark between late 2023 and early 2024. A June 26, 2023 capture showed the 50 percent off banner, and September 15, 2023 was still live. By April 2024 the domain served an unrelated store. It later showed unrelated content, and in September 2026 it's a GoDaddy parked page. The domain has been registered since August 21, 2009. We found no successor brand.
You can't buy Nook new anywhere now. Past stockists may still hold clearance or used stock. Nook offered Affirm financing and took Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and PayPal. It later added Apple Pay, Google Pay and Diners Club.
Delivery, setup and removal
Orders processed Monday through Friday. The October 2021 policy said orders ship within 1 business day, and a later FAQ said 1 to 3 business days with UPS Ground only. Crib mattresses shipped flat in a 54 x 30 x 6 inch box, with the cover packed separately. The Air arrived compressed in an 11 x 32 inch box and needed 48 to 72 hours to expand. The Pebble Twin and Full came rolled and also needed 48 to 72 hours, up to 72 by the shipping page.
Shipping wasn't free. Nook charged flat-rate shipping in the contiguous US. Earlier badges offered free shipping over $99. Sales tax applied only in California. Nook didn't ship to Canada. It pointed you to Canadian retailers. It published no white-glove setup or old-mattress removal.
Nook didn't list a foundation or base requirement. It only recommended a crib with a platform, wood-slat or solid base. Crib mattresses are 4 inches deep, and Nook warned against using its covers on other brands' 5 to 6 inch mattresses.
Sleep trial and returns
Standard-size crib mattresses bought at nooksleep.com had a 100-night free trial. The clock started at purchase or the baby's birthdate, whichever came later. You returned it at Nook's expense for a full refund. It didn't cover anywhere outside the continental US. The Mini, the Stokke Sleepi, Basic Cover setups, the Twin and the Full weren't eligible. You had to keep the original boxes for all 100 nights.
Everything else had a 30-day return window for unused items in original packaging. Nook wouldn't take back used or washed items. Practically Perfect, special order and clearance items were final sale. You had three return options. Free shipping gave store credit that never expires. A $15 label fee gave a refund minus $15. Or you paid your own carrier. Mini Pure, Pebble Twin and Pebble Full returns cost $40 instead of $15.
Nook emailed a label within 3 business days, then refunded within 3 business days of inspection, plus up to 72 hours for card funds. With the store closed, no trial, return or refund can start as of September 2026.
Warranty
Crib cores carried a limited lifetime warranty with a Pebble, Dimple or Print cover, with proof of purchase. A Basic Cover meant only 90 days. Pebble Twin and Full cores had 10 years. Covers had 1 year, DreamSheets 180 days and Basic Covers 90 days. The Uh Oh pad had 90 days, and the Changing Pad, play mats and pillows had 180 days.
It covered manufacturing defects only, for the original owner. Floor model, flash sale, final sale, resold and giveaway items were void. Loungers and Poufs were retired, so they aren't covered. Nook ran a claim form and a product registration page.
With no company operating in September 2026 and no successor found, these terms are historical. You'd have no way to enforce a lifetime warranty.
Nook Sleep Systems vs. other brands
Naturepedic is the closest premium organic rival and still operates. It's sold in more places and doesn't skimp on construction detail. Nook's edge was its pebble cover, foam-free Pure Organic core and lifetime warranty. Newton Baby sold the same breathability pitch with a washable Wovenaire core at a lower price. Newton wins by default now.
Graco, Delta and Sealy crib mattresses run roughly $80 to $200 and are easy to return. They use polyurethane foam, and they don't make organic claims. Nook's $199 to $439 bought certifications and breathability. No crib mattress has been shown to prevent SIDS.
Against adult brands like Casper, Purple and Saatva, the $699 twin and $899 full were pricey for a 6 inch build with a 10-year warranty. Those brands offer 10 to 12 inch hybrids, 10 to 15 year warranties and sleep trials. Today Nook loses to every operating rival on availability alone.
How we put this review together
We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.

Quick answers before you buy
Can I still buy a Nook mattress new?
No, not as of September 2026. The site is a parked GoDaddy page, and we found no Nook listings on Amazon or Target. Secondhand or clearance stock at past boutiques is the only route.
Is Nook still honoring the lifetime crib mattress warranty?
Effectively no. It covered the original owner only and needed proof of purchase. With no operating company or successor, there's nobody to file a claim with.
What did Nook crib mattresses cost?
They cost $199 to $439 at the June 2023 catalog. The Mini Pure Organic 2.0 was $199, the Air 2.0 was $199 to $249 and the Pure Organic 2.0 Two-Stage was $439. The Stokke Sleepi model was $449 in 2021. The Pebble Twin was $699 and the Pebble Full was $899.
What was the big idea behind Nook?
Breathable, certified-safe sleep for babies. Zip-on 3D SafeSleep covers moved air around the baby. The line carried GREENGUARD Gold, GOTS, Oeko-Tex, CertiPUR-US and Oregon Tilth certifications.
How did the 100-night trial work?
Standard crib mattresses bought at nooksleep.com in the continental US qualified. The clock started at purchase or birthdate, whichever was later. Nook paid return shipping for a full refund. You had to keep the boxes for 100 nights.
If I find a used Nook mattress, what should I check?
Check which cover it has, since a Basic Cover meant a 90-day warranty and no trial. Make sure the infant side is still firm and the fire barrier is intact. Confirm the 4 inch thickness and 28 x 53 inch size fit your crib. Pilling and glue coloring at the seams are cosmetic.
