Hypnos Beds Mattress Review

Hypnos is a 120-year-old British bedmaker with a Royal Warrant. It handcrafts pocket-spring mattresses from wool, cotton and latex. Its US web path redirects to the International site, and we found no US dollar checkout. If you're in the US, you'll need to buy through a retailer. It's best if you want a natural-material luxury bed you can try in a store. It isn't for you if you want an online trial with easy returns.

Side sleepers can consider pillow top, Euro top or plusher comfort options for pressure relief. Hypnos says comfort is personal, so test in store. Back and stomach sleepers can consider firmer tensions or Orthos Support styles with strong edge support.

Couples can consider Zip-and-Link splits for independent comfort and easier handling. If you want low upkeep, consider no-turn models like the Cotton Origins 8, and rotate as directed. It's positioned as a luxury handcrafted product, competing with Savoir-style and hotel-grade natural beds. Value depends on retailer quotes, base bundles and white-glove terms. Collect 2 or 3 written quotes. Compare spring counts, fill content and guarantee handling before you judge value.

Springs are ReActivePro pocket springs in 6-, 7-, 8-, 9- and 10-turn versions. Upper Legacy models add ReActivePro DUO and Adaptiv spring layers. You also get Triple Edge Protection edge springs, and tailored models have hand side-stitching.

Fills include 100 percent British wool, Red Tractor on Cotton Origins and Responsible Wool Standard on Legacy. You'll also find sustainably sourced cotton, Swaledale wool, natural Talalay latex, Himalayan allo and kapok on Legacy, and Solotex and eOlus recycled-fibre pads. The unbleached cotton and viscose sleep surface on the Cotton Origins 8 is stated to meet fire rules without synthetic flame retardants.

Named assurances are Red Tractor, Better Cotton initiative, CottonConnect and Responsible Wool Standard. The brand doesn't publish CertiPUR, GOTS, GOLS or foam density details (checked September 2026).

Hypnos gives a 10-year guarantee on retail beds. Its FAQ cites Sleep Council guidance of 7 years for replacement and says a quality bed should last about 10 years.

Care matters. Turn or rotate as directed and use a sound base. Keep slat gaps at 3 inches (7.5 cm) or less. Don't bend or roll the mattress, don't lift it by sewn handles, and use a protector. Independent long-term sagging and durability test data isn't available (checked September 2026).

We found no independent US star ratings or verified review counts for Hypnos (checked September 2026). Trustpilot showed a 403 error page, and pages we tried on Mattress Clarity, TechRadar and T3 didn't exist. GoodBed has no Hypnos brand page. The brand presents itself as a Royal Warrant holder supplying homes, hotels, royalty and VIPs. That shows positioning, not measured satisfaction.

Before you buy, ask the retailer for written comfort-exchange terms, delivery lead times and guarantee-claim handling. Write down the exact model name, tension and base you try in store.

It warns that a worn or unsuitable base can reduce support and affect the guarantee.

The brand doesn't publish white-glove availability, fees or US delivery coverage.

Hypnos doesn't publish a home sleep trial length (checked September 2026). No trial period appears on its International, UK or model pages. Assume there's no brand-level home trial unless a retailer offers one in writing.

Returns, exchanges and any restocking or collection fees depend on the retailer. A guarantee claim differs from a comfort return. Report problems in writing to the retailer you bought from. If that retailer has closed, contact Hypnos customer service with proof of purchase, product name, size and a description of the problem.

Cover ends at 10 years. It can end sooner after mistreatment or damage, missed turning or rotation, or use on an old or damaged divan or bedstead. Slats more than 3 inches apart, bending or rolling the mattress, lifting by border handles, or a missing protector can also end it.
