Houston Mattress Factory Review

Houston Mattress Factory is a factory-direct custom maker at 5401 Gulf Fwy in Houston, Texas. It builds handcrafted, made-to-order mattresses, including Custom Organic and Custom Latex, plus RV, boat and antique-frame sizes. It suits local shoppers who want organic materials and free adjustments after purchase. The brand doesn't publish online prices, specs, a trial or a warranty (checked September 2026). You'll need to visit or call for a quote.

The brand doesn't publish side, back or stomach sleeper guidance. It doesn't publish firmness, cooling, motion isolation or edge support claims either (checked September 2026). You'll set the fit in person by testing and talking it through.

Custom sizing is the main draw. That covers RV, boat, antique-frame and other nonstandard sizes, and the store page mentions orders from one mattress to a truckload. The brand promises organic materials with no chemicals ever, but no GOTS, GOLS, OEKO-TEX, CertiPUR-US or Greenguard certificates are published. Heavier sleepers and couples should confirm support, edge and split options on site.

The brand doesn't publish mattress prices, size-level prices, sales or financing (checked September 2026). The official site has no prices and no online cart.

Factory-direct custom building with free after-purchase adjustments could be good value for odd sizes and organic or latex builds. We can't check that against rivals without street prices. Get a written quote and compare it with other custom shops.

The store and about pages say the mattresses are handcrafted specialty beds. They're made with only the highest quality organic materials and absolutely no chemicals ever. The shop offers latex, organic and made-to-order builds, plus custom RV, boat and antique-frame work.

The brand doesn't publish layers, foam densities, coil counts, cover or fire-barrier details, or certifications (checked September 2026). It also stocks hypoallergenic pillows, waterproof mattress protectors, sheets, comforters and more.

The brand doesn't publish durability evidence, third-party tests, sag thresholds or expected lifespan (checked September 2026). The store page says it doesn't charge for after-purchase adjustments. The about page cites years of industry experience and caring customer service.

Handcrafted, made-to-order construction may help longevity. Without specs or warranty terms, though, we can't verify durability.

We found no on-site reviews, star ratings or testimonials on the official site (checked September 2026). The brand doesn't publish Google, Yelp or BBB scores or complaint themes, and those listings didn't load for us.

Ask in the store for references. Check current map and review profiles before you buy.

You can try and buy only at the factory store. That's Houston Mattress Factory, 5401 Gulf Fwy, Houston, TX 77023, phone (713) 921-1900. The site lists hours of 10:00 am to 06:00 pm, and says it's open by appointment, so call first.

We found no other showrooms, dealers or online checkout. You can contact the shop through the site's inquiry and mailing-list forms. We found no Amazon, Wayfair, Costco or other retail listings (checked September 2026).

The brand doesn't publish delivery areas, cost, speed, tracking, setup, white-glove service or old-mattress removal (checked September 2026). It sells factory-direct from its Gulf Freeway location, so in-person pickup seems likely.

Local delivery may be arranged by phone, but the brand doesn't spell it out. Confirm delivery scope, fees, setup help and haul-away before you order.

The brand doesn't publish a sleep trial, return window, exchange rules, or restocking or return-shipping fees (checked September 2026). The only after-purchase promise is free adjustments, per the store page.

Custom made-to-order beds may have limited returns. Confirm in writing whether comfort adjustments, rebuilds, exchanges or refunds are offered, and any fees, before you pay.

The brand doesn't publish warranty length, coverage, exclusions or a claim process (checked September 2026). We found no warranty page on the official site.

Ask for a written warranty before you buy. It should cover sag depth, defects, duration, transferability and claim steps. Keep your quote and receipt.

Against national organic and latex brands like Avocado, PlushBeds and Sleep EZ, Houston Mattress Factory wins on local custom sizing. That covers RVs, boats and antique frames, plus in-person adjustments. It loses on published specs, certifications, prices, trials, warranties and online buying.

Against other Houston-area custom shops, the organic, no-chemicals-ever positioning and free adjustments stand out. Prices and warranties aren't published, so you'll need written quotes to compare.

We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
