Dutch Craft Mattress Review

Dutch Craft (dutchcraft.net) is a family-owned American maker founded by Eli Schmucker. It hand-assembles mattresses in its own US factories. The Nightfall collection pairs phase-change and cool-touch fabrics with pocketed coils, high-density foams and natural latex. The flagships are the 16-inch two-sided Cambridge pillow-top and the 13-inch Essence latex hybrid. Each has a 15-year non-prorated warranty and is sold through local dealers. You'll find no published prices or brand-wide trial, so ask your dealer.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

If you sleep on your side, start with the Essence Plush or a Cambridge Plush or pillow-top. They cushion your shoulders and hips over pocketed-coil support. If you sleep on your back, try the Cambridge Firm or Essence Firm for a level, supportive surface. If you sleep on your stomach, pick the firmer Cambridge options for minimal midsection sink.

Hot sleepers can look at the PCM cool fabric on the Cambridge, or the cool touch fabric models (Essence, Serenity, Peace, Patience). Couples get reduced motion transfer from the pocketed-coil Cambridge and Essence. If durability comes first, look at the two-sided Cambridge, Bliss or Allure, flipped and rotated per the care guidance. If you want online prices and a brand-wide trial, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Mattress prices and value

The brand does not publish mattress prices (checked September 2026). The /shop page says the online store at shopdutchcraft.com is Coming Soon, and that site didn't load when we checked. We couldn't confirm any size-level pricing.

Dutch Craft says it prices honestly. It skips celebrity endorsements and national TV advertising and puts the money into foam, coils and fabrics. It also cuts foam and sews covers in-house to control costs. You'll judge value at the dealer. Compare quoted prices against the published build (coil unit, latex, high-density foam) and the 15-year non-prorated warranty on Cambridge and Essence.

What are the mattresses made of?

The Cambridge has a PCM cool fabric cover, 1.75 in of plush poly foam, 1 in of high-density support foam and an 8 in elite pocket coil unit. It's two-sided and stands 16 in tall. The Essence has a cool touch fabric cover and 2 in of high-density foam and Joma wool. Under that are 2 in of natural latex over an 8 in elite pocket coil unit. It's 13 in tall.

At the collection level, Dutch Craft lists an exclusive 1057 pocket coil system with phase change material fabrics. Hope, Peace and Patience use graphite memory foam. Serenity has a NanoCoil layer, and Ascend uses natural latex and high-density plush foam. Bliss is hand-tufted, and Regena Firm and Plush use Aarogy wellness technology. The brand also lists gel-infused memory foam options and eco-friendly options. It cuts all foams in-house and sews covers in its own sewing division. It doesn't publish foam certifications or the latex type or blend.

How well do the mattresses hold up?

The two-sided flippable models (Cambridge, Bliss, Allure) are designed for longer life than one-sided builds. The brand tells you to rotate every 3 to 6 months for even wear. Quality signals include hand assembly with stage-by-stage inspection and in-house foam cutting and sewing. It also uses high-density foams and pocketed coils. Warranties are non-prorated, including 15 years on Cambridge and Essence.

The brand doesn't publish independent long-term durability testing, sag-rate data or owner lifespan figures (checked September 2026). Treat longevity as a brand claim until you see dealer or owner feedback.

Customer reviews and complaints

The brand's site shows no ratings, reviews or testimonials for the Cambridge or Essence. It also doesn't publish review volume, average scores or complaint themes (checked September 2026). We found no third-party review coverage or retailer ratings. The brand has a public Facebook page (DutchCraftMattressCompany) and a contact form, which are the visible feedback channels.

Verify current dealer and owner feedback before you buy. Don't confuse this line with similar names from other makers.

Where can you try and buy?

You can try beds at authorized Dutch Craft dealers. Use the Find a Retailer zip-code search, which covers dealers within 50 miles. The site notes model names, specs and availability may vary by region, so confirm the exact Cambridge or Essence build with the store.

You'll buy through the dealer, because the brand has no working checkout. The /shop page lists the online store as Coming Soon. The site also has a contact form and a mattress-registration page for owners. The brand does not publish mail, phone or chat ordering details (checked September 2026).

Delivery, setup and removal

The site says Dutch Craft ships to dealers across more than half the country. It doesn't publish brand-level shipping speeds, delivery fees, white-glove setup or haul-away terms. The selling dealer sets all of that. Get delivery timing, setup, stair or rural surcharges and old-bed removal in writing before you buy.

Sleep trial and returns

The brand does not publish a home sleep trial, a break-in requirement or a return-fee schedule (checked September 2026). Any comfort trial, exchange window or restocking fee comes from the dealer. Confirm who accepts the return, the deadline, the condition rules and who pays return shipping or pickup.

Because Nightfall specs vary by region, put the agreed model, comfort level, trial terms and fees on your sales receipt.

Warranty

Cambridge and Essence each carry Warranty G, a 15-year non-prorated warranty. The brand's warranty table runs from Warranty A (1 year) through Warranty H (20 years), all non-prorated. The length varies by model, so check the law tag.

It covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, body impressions over 1.5 inches, and structural coil or foam defects. It excludes cover fabric and handles, normal wear, comfort preference, or damage from improper support or misuse. Claims need your original receipt, a clean unstained mattress, a proper foundation with center support and an attached law tag. You pay transportation. Dutch Craft chooses repair or replacement. The full text is at dutchcraft.net/warranty-and-care.

Dutch Craft vs. other brands

Dutch Craft contrasts its craftsman-built, low-marketing model with mass-produced national brands that spend heavily on TV and endorsements. It claims the savings go into foam, coils and fabrics. The brand doesn't publish spec-for-spec comparisons. Against bed-in-a-box brands, it's dealer-sold with no published trial or online pricing, so online-convenience shoppers are better served elsewhere.

Among two-sided flippable makers, the Cambridge, Bliss and Allure compete on flippability and 15-year coverage (Cambridge). Head-to-head durability data isn't published. Against latex hybrids, the Essence (2 in of natural latex over pocketed coils) is the natural-leaning pick, though the latex blend and certifications aren't published.

How we put this review together

We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
