Craftmatic Mattress Review

Craftmatic is a longtime TV adjustable-bed brand run from South Florida. It still sells mattresses, but only bundled with its Legacy, Model I and Monaco bases, and only by phone. The website is now a lead form with no catalog, specs or prices. BBB gives the company an F. You may like the reversible dual-density coil mattress or a split dual-queen setup. But you should expect a slow, complaint-heavy process. If you need published specs, online ordering, free returns or dependable warranty service, this isn't the brand to pick.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Back or combination sleepers who like to experiment can try the Dual Density mattress. Flipping it changes the feel from firm to plush. Firm sleepers and heavier sleepers should look at Luxury Firm or the firm side of the Dual Density.

Lightweight and side sleepers who want softness and airflow can look at Plush Soft, with its Talalay latex layer. The Model I Latex 12-inch on its 24 ILD soft side is another option. Couples can choose a Dual Queen or Dual King system. It has two mattresses, two hand controls and split head and foot movement. That's Craftmatic's long-standing niche.

If you sleep hot, skip the memory foam models when you can. Owners say it sleeps hot even with the gel top. Pick latex or the coil mattress instead. For achy hips or shoulders, memory foam conforms most, with that heat caveat. The memory foam line is CertiPUR-US certified, and the coil mattresses use a chemical-free fire barrier. We found no organic or GREENGUARD certification. The site's medical claims, such as relief from low back pain or leg swelling, are the brand's own marketing. We didn't verify them. The brand doesn't publish firmness, ILD or height for the 2026 line (checked September 2026). So match your needs on the phone and lean on the trial.

Mattress prices and value

Craftmatic doesn't publish prices anywhere. The site says to call 888-539-6985 for prices. Older pages promote phone sales, an Everyday Low Price Guarantee and up to 50 percent less than Tempur-Pedic, Sleep Number and other adjustable brands. You can't verify that, because there's no price list. MyBestMattress (updated October 2025) puts beds at about $1,800 to $6,000, with the Legacy near $6,000.

BBB reviewers reported paying $3,918.27 for a bed and mattress in June 2023, $4,232.92 in September 2023 and $4,500 for an order in February 2023. One was quoted $3,531 in 2021 for two replacement mattresses for an insurance claim. Other owners were quoted $200 for a remote, or a $75 service call plus a $175 part plus shipping.

Prices sit at premium adjustable-bed levels. Yet there's no spec sheet, no independent lab testing and no online ordering. The 30-day trial leaves return shipping to you. So the value case rests on the sales call and the dual-density or split-king features. The brand doesn't publish mattress-only prices, per-model prices or current promotions (checked September 2026).

What are the mattresses made of?

Coil models, including the Dual Density flagship, are hot-glue laminated so layers don't shift. A full mattress uses a 312-coil Bonnell unit with five-turn oil-tempered coils. They're tied with double-knotted helical wire. A flexing polypropylene net sits over the springs. Next come a garnetted synthetic fiber pad, layers of non-allergenic foam and a cotton and polyester ticking. The result is reversible: firm on one side, plush on the other. Luxury Firm adds firm quilt foam, comfort foam, visco memory foam and a shock-absorbing safety base. Plush Soft adds a plush topper, Talalay latex and hyper-soft quilt foam.

The memory foam line is CertiPUR-US certified for performance, indoor emissions and environmental stewardship. It comes in 8, 10 and 12 inches, on an HD polyfoam base, with an organic poly-cotton knit cover and an ultra-suede border. Nu Gel 12-inch has 4 inches of high-density memory foam, 2.5 inches of premium memory foam and 1.5 inches of gel foam over an 8-inch base. Model I Latex 12-inch has a 6-inch latex core. The soft side has 2 inches of 24 ILD latex plus a quilt with 1 inch of hyper foam. The firm side has 2 inches of 40 ILD latex plus a 7/8-inch firm foam quilt.

The adjustable base is separate from the mattress. It uses a steel frame dipped in non-toxic lead-free enamel, Hubbell linear actuators and motors and electronics ETL-tested to UL962. Decks are 5/8-inch plywood, OSB or warp-resistant particle board. The brand doesn't publish a current 2026 materials list (checked September 2026).

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Craftmatic says hot-glue laminating extends mattress life through thousands of flexes. It also says the mattresses meet its specs for comfort, shape retention and support. The mattress and foundation carry a 25-year pro-rata limited warranty. We found no lab durability tests, disassembly reviews or long-term owner surveys (September 2026), so you can't verify longevity.

Owner reports are mixed to poor. Reviewers describe a mattress defective on arrival and uneven filling. One found the reverse side hard as a rock. Another had an edge so soft they fell out of bed. Others say the memory foam sleeps hot. One split-king buyer waited nine months for the base. Several 2024 to 2026 complainants never got the mattress at all.

The coil mattresses are older Bonnell builds with a modest 312 coils in a full size. Expect a basic, bouncy, non-conforming feel. Don't expect modern pocketed-coil or high-density foam longevity. Before you pay, ask for current coil counts, foam densities and the exact warranty document. The brand doesn't publish long-term durability results (checked September 2026).

Customer reviews and complaints

BBB lists Craftmatic Adjustable Beds as not accredited, with an F rating. It cites failure to respond to 99 complaints and 6 complaints that were not resolved. The company has two locations: 5192 SW 27th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312, and PO Box 668700, Pompano Beach, FL 33066. BBB shows 16 years in business. Its 23 BBB customer reviews average 1.13 out of 5.

A BBB review dated 09/19/2026 describes a bed bought 7/16/2026 and still undelivered. A review dated 06/15/2026 describes a bed bought 11/13/2025 and paid in full. It had no proper delivery seven months later, after about 32 calls. A 05/04/2025 review describes a defective mattress. A 08/09/2024 review describes a $2,000 deposit not refunded after cancelling within 30 days. A 04/22/2024 review describes a Legacy split queen that stopped moving after 11 calls. A 11/27/2023 review says the buyer paid $4,232.92 and got mattresses but no beds. A 08/28/2024 review describes rude phone staff, and a 07/16/2024 review describes hardware falling off the bottom. A 05/18/2024 review says deliveries slipped for months. A 10/18/2023 review describes a paid deposit with no delivery. One 4-star review from a second-hand owner calls the queen bed functional and comfortable.

Trustpilot shows 3.2 out of 5 from a single review, dated January 2024, about two Dual King systems that never arrived. SiteJabber shows 0 reviews and a 0.0 rating. SlumberSearch collects praise for comfort, the firm and soft choices, massage and sales reps. It also lists complaints about hot memory foam, $150 replacement remotes and refused warranty service. ConsumerAffairs reportedly has 1,000+ reviews, and a comparison page lists 4,897, but its pages were unavailable to us in September 2026, so we can't quote a rating. Overall, current reviews skew negative and center on non-delivery, refunds, service and defective mattresses.

Where can you try and buy?

You can buy direct and by phone only. Craftmatic sells through its own phone line (888-539-6985 on the site, 800-245-0205 on older pages) and a free catalog and video request form. We found no showrooms, dealer locator or store locator. We found no Craftmatic-branded listings on Amazon or Wayfair in September 2026. One 2024 BBB reviewer said Wayfair and Macy's sell the beds, but we couldn't confirm that.

Service, parts and manuals go through the same phone numbers. Trying before you buy is limited to the 30-day in-home trial. The archived pages target the US, with the trial limited to the 48 contiguous states. The brand doesn't publish current UK availability (checked September 2026). You can't see a Craftmatic mattress in person before buying.

Delivery, setup and removal

Craftmatic says deliveries go through its Authorized Delivery and Service network. It says it will deliver and set up your bed nationwide, with in-home technicians. Older pages say all 50 states, while a 2021 page says the 48 contiguous states.

Complaints from 2023 to 2026 tell a different story. Mattresses came by FedEx to the porch while the base arrived later on another truck. One crew brought four chairs instead of a base. Drivers refused to take old mattresses. Installers didn't fit the mattress connectors. Dates slipped repeatedly, and one 2024 bed arrived only after a TV reporter stepped in.

Free old-mattress removal isn't listed as standard. The only official offer is in the 30-Day Mattress Assurance Program. There, $180 covers placing the new mattress on your bed and removing the old one, or $90 for door delivery only. The brand doesn't publish delivery fees, scheduling windows or haul-away terms (checked September 2026), so confirm them in writing.

Sleep trial and returns

The 30 Day In-Home Trial comes from the company's own PDF. Use the bed for 30 days. If you're not satisfied, call between day 31 and day 45 for a Return Authorization Number. Then return the bed within 14 days for a full refund. You pay return shipping. Craftmatic can arrange pickup for $699 for one bed or $999 for a dual king. The trial covers complete bed sets only. It excludes special-order bases, special-order mattresses and latex mattresses. It's limited to the 48 contiguous states.

The 30 Day Mattress Assurance Program lets you swap to a softer or firmer mattress in days 31 to 45. It costs $90 delivered to your door or $180 placed on your bed with the old one removed. It's a one-time offer and has the same exclusions. If you're still unhappy, the trial restarts. You'd then return it for a refund minus return shipping and the $90 or $180 delivery charge.

The refund policy says there are no returns, exchanges or refunds once your cancellation right has ended. That applies after delivery, except under the trial. Cancellation rights vary by state. Buyers report months-long refund waits and deposits of $2,000 and $760 not returned. These terms come from the official PDF and archived pages from 2025. The brand's policy pages weren't available in September 2026, so we can't confirm 2026 changes.

Warranty

The mattress and foundation carry a 25-year pro-rata limited warranty for the original owner. It covers defects in material and workmanship. Year one is free for parts, labor and delivery. In years 2 to 25, Craftmatic may repair or replace for a pro-rata charge. The charge is replacement cost divided by 300 months, times expired months. From year 2 you can have it inspected in your home at service-call rates or ship it prepaid.

The base has a 1-year limited warranty on frame, motors, gears, controls and electrical parts. Monaco, Model I and Model II also get a Limited Lifetime warranty on the level-changer and massage system. It covers defective motors, but installation, service-call labor and shipping are on you. The Limited Edition base uses Leggett and Platt's 1-year, 3-year and 10-year warranty. That one excludes the mattress and isn't transferable. Misuse, accidents, transit damage and unauthorized repair are excluded. The Nu Gel 12-inch cover has a 15-year warranty.

Owners report mixed results. One lifetime-warranty owner was told $75 for a visit, $175 for a part and $25 shipping. A Legacy owner was told a motor computer would cost about $100. Some reviewers say the current owners bought the name and don't honor older lifetime warranties. The brand doesn't publish 2026 warranty documents (checked September 2026). The terms above come from an archived copy of the brand's site and its warranty PDFs.

Craftmatic vs. other brands

Craftmatic calls itself the number 1 best-selling adjustable brand. It claims beds cost up to 50 percent less than Tempur-Pedic and Sleep Number. It also criticizes rivals' 60, 90 and 120-day trials and their return shipping costs.

Against Tempur-Pedic, Sleep Number, Saatva, Purple, Nectar, Puffy and Helix, it matches them on phone-based selling and split systems. It also offers a useful reversible dual-density coil mattress and a 25-year pro-rata warranty. It loses on most modern standards. There are no published prices or specs, no online checkout, no independent testing and no showroom. You pay $699 to $999 in return shipping, while rivals offer 90 to 365-night free-return trials. BBB gives it an F with 99 unanswered complaints.

Its Limited Edition base is built by Leggett and Platt, so you may pay a big premium for a base sold elsewhere with clearer terms. Where it still wins is brand nostalgia, a dual-queen size that's hard to find and in-home sales for people who can't shop online.

How we put this review together

We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
