A.H. Beard Mattress Review
A.H. Beard is a family-owned Australian bedmaker dating to 1899. In the US, its Classic Collection is made under license by Paramount Sleep in Norfolk, Virginia. You can find the Freya, Kaiya and Lennox models, and the Bindi Euro Top 7625 is also listed. You'll find no online prices, sizes or trial terms, but the models carry a 20-year non-prorated warranty. It's best if you want hand-tufted pocket-spring luxury. You must buy through a US retailer, because ahbeard.com serves Australia only.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?
If you sleep on your back, look at the Freya Extra Firm or Kaiya Luxury Firm for firmer lumbar hold. If you sleep on your side, the Lennox Plush or Lennox Plush Euro Top cushions your shoulders and hips. If you sleep on your stomach, the Freya Extra Firm is your pick. Combination sleepers can try the Kaiya Luxury Firm.
The brand doesn't publish weight guidance for heavier sleepers, so lean on the retailer trial and the 20-year sag coverage. Hot sleepers get phase-change knit, gel foams and breathable fibers, but we found no independent cooling data. This guidance comes from comfort names, not clinical testing.
Mattress prices and value
The brand doesn't publish US prices (checked September 2026). Paramount model pages say Find a Retailer with no MSRP, and the ahbeard.com collection pages show no model prices. It doesn't publish sizes, dimensions or weights either.
Hand-tufted, US-made pocket-spring beds with natural-fiber quilts and a 20-year non-prorated warranty are premium specialty-store luxury. Expect prices above bed-in-a-box value brands. Confirm the street price of each model with a Paramount retailer before you compare.
What are the mattresses made of?
The US Classic Collection, per the brand, starts with a phase-change luxury-knit quilt of silk, wool and cashmere. Under it sits a compression hand-tufted stack. That stack holds cooling gel contour foam, memory foam, a natural latex lumbar band in the middle third and Blue Cotton repurposed-denim fiber. It also has eco and upholstery pads, and the Lennox Euro Top adds 5-zone HD performance foam.
The core is 800 nested pocket springs with an upholstery-grade foam encasement and HD base foam. The brand doesn't publish CertiPUR-US, GOTS, GOLS or OEKO-TEX statements on the ahbeard.com or Paramount model pages we checked (September 2026).
How well do the mattresses hold up?
The US models carry a 20-year non-prorated limited warranty with a 1.5-inch sag standard (Paramount warranty codes M and N). Sag beyond 1.5 inches qualifies. Normal upholstery settling and quilt flattening don't. Only the original purchaser is covered, with dated proof. You pay for transport, and repair or replacement doesn't extend coverage.
The brand doesn't publish independent durability testing (checked September 2026). Treat claims that tufting resists impressions and the foam-encased edge lasts as brand-reported.
Customer reviews and complaints
The Paramount US model pages we checked show no brand-site ratings. ProductReview.com.au lists A.H. Beard at 4.2 stars from 756 reviews, mostly for Australian models. Praise themes are comfort, support, pain relief and smooth delivery. Complaint themes are early sagging and dipping, lumps, edge collapse, squeaking, chemical odor, and hard warranty service with denied claims and long waits.
We found no US Classic Collection reviews (September 2026). The BBB page for Paramount Sleep wasn't available to us. Comfort is well liked when the bed holds its shape. Disputes center on sag judgments and warranty handling, so get trial and warranty terms in writing from the retailer.
Where can you try and buy?
In Australia, you can use ahbeard.com to shop in store or online, plus Australian retail partners. In the US, you buy only through authorized Paramount Sleep retailers via Find a Retailer. We found no US direct checkout. The US models are American-made and hand-tufted in Norfolk, Virginia.
For warranty routing, call Paramount Sleep at (757) 855-3321, option 2. The US Classic Collection shares Paramount's Norfolk factory with its other licensed and house lines.
Delivery, setup and removal
In Australia, delivery runs through ahbeard.com Shop online, with terms on the site. The brand doesn't publish US delivery, setup, white-glove service, speed or old-mattress removal (checked September 2026). Each retailer sets its own, so confirm cost, delivery level and removal fees before you order.
The Paramount warranty card sets base rules. Use a supportive base with rigid center support, at least 5 legs and 5 or more hardwood slats where wood is used. Queen and king sizes need a floor-touching center rail. The wrong base can void coverage.
Sleep trial and returns
The brand doesn't publish a sleep trial on ahbeard.com or the Paramount model and warranty pages we checked (September 2026). We found no brand-level US trial, so any terms come from the selling retailer.
It doesn't publish return mechanics, exchanges, restocking or return-shipping fees either. Confirm in writing with the retailer, including comfort-exchange windows and who pays freight. For Australian trial and returns, check the ahbeard.com customer-care pages when you buy.
Warranty
US models carry a 20-year non-prorated limited warranty (codes M and N). It covers manufacturing defects and sag beyond 1.5 inches. It excludes upholstery settling, quilt and tuft flattening, comfort preference, stains or unhygienic condition, and damage from the wrong base or missing center support. It also excludes physical abuse, moisture, removed law tags, commercial use (unless built for it) and floor-model as-is goods. Fabric and handles are limited.
Start with the selling retailer and a dated receipt. If that isn't possible, contact Paramount Sleep at 1112 Kingwood Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23502, or warranty@paramountsleep.com. You pay transport, and a remedy doesn't restart coverage.
A.H. Beard vs. other brands
Against Sealy and Beautyrest in US specialty retail, A.H. Beard wins on hand-tufted craft and natural-fiber quilts. It loses on published specs, prices and trial clarity. Against Stearns and Foster, it matches the luxury handcraft position. It loses on dealer reach and published lines.
Against Saatva, A.H. Beard wins on in-store specialty heritage. It loses on published pricing, a year-long trial and free white-glove delivery. Against Australian rivals like SleepMaker and Sealy Australia, it wins on its family-owned story of more than 125 years and the recyclable Origins range. Compare Australian trial terms per retailer.
How we put this review together
We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
