Spindle Mattress Review

Spindle is a US online-only maker with two certified-organic beds. One is a 10-inch, fully rearrangeable Dunlop latex mattress. The other is a 10-inch latex-over-coil hybrid. Both use GOTS cotton and GOLS plus OEKO-TEX latex. It's a good match if you put latex first and like tuning firmness yourself. The big caveats are that there are no showrooms and that returns mean you donate the bed yourself. You'll want to read the return steps before you order.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

If you sleep on your side, start with the softest layer arrangement on the Organic Latex, or Soft on the Hybrid, for pressure relief. The brand's reviews page stresses that comfort is subjective. Back sleepers will find Medium arrangements suit most people. Spinal-alignment support is the Hybrid's pitch through zoned coils.

Stomach sleepers get less hammocking from firmer setups. Strict stomach sleepers often prefer the Firm Hybrid. Combination sleepers get ease of movement from latex's buoyancy plus the Hybrid's coils. Hot sleepers get breathable latex, cotton and wool with no memory foam, but no active cooling tech.

If you have allergies, the brand positions the latex as hypoallergenic, with dust-mite-resistant wool and no synthetic latex or poly foam. Couples can choose split-firmness latex or the Hybrid's pocketed coils for motion separation. Spindle states its models aren't intended for a BMI of 31 or over. Check the returns and FAQ page before you buy.

Mattress prices and value

Spindle positions itself as direct-to-consumer organic latex at roughly $1,000 below comparable retail, per its homepage claim. The Latex Queen is $1,699.99 on sale (compare at $2,299.99). The Hybrid Queen is $1,599.99 on sale (compare at $2,199.99). Twin and Twin XL start at $1,199.99 in both lines, and Kings top out at $1,999.99 on sale. Split-firmness costs more, at $2,099.99 for a Queen and from $2,299.99 for a King.

You get a 120-night trial, a 10-year warranty, a 25-Year Comfort Life replacement-layer discount and free shipping in the contiguous 48. Watch for extra freight to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada. Taxes and donation or hauling costs aren't refunded. The sale and compare-at prices are just a framing.

What are the mattresses made of?

The Organic Latex has 9 in of organic Dunlop latex in three 3 in layers: Soft at 65 kg/m3, Medium at 75 kg/m3 and Firm at 85 kg/m3. The latex is made in Sri Lanka from Sri Lankan material. A 1 in quilted cover of circular-knit organic cotton (360 gsm) sits on top. It's knitted in Canada from US- and India-grown cotton, with wool batting carded in California from New Zealand wool.

The Organic Hybrid uses the same cover concept over 3 in of organic Dunlop (your choice of Soft, Medium or Firm) plus individually wrapped, US-made coils. There's no synthetic latex, polyurethane foam, fiberglass or added chemical flame retardant. Wool acts as the fire barrier.

Spindle's latex product page states GOTS-certified organic cotton, and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOLS-certified organic latex. CertiPUR-US and eco-INSTITUT don't apply because there's no poly foam. The brand doesn't publish GREENGUARD (checked September 2026).

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Latex is inherently durable. Spindle backs it with a 10-year warranty plus a 25-Year Comfort Life program. It lets the original owner buy a replacement latex layer at a 30 percent discount at any time. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in latex layers, such as sag over 3/4 inch in the latex only. The cover is excluded. The remedy is replacement materials, not necessarily a whole new mattress.

Some limits temper expectations. The cover, normal softening, comfort preference and sheet fit are excluded. Removing the law tag voids coverage. You need a suitable foundation with center support for Full, Queen and King. The brand doesn't publish real-world long-term failure rates, and we found no independent long-term data (checked September 2026).

Customer reviews and complaints

Spindle advertises 1,000+ 5-star reviews on its homepage. Product images show a Forbes best-latex and organic seal. That's an on-site badge, so check the current Forbes article before you rely on it. Spindle cites helpful staff, easy assembly, an adjustable feel that helps combination sleepers and back-pain shoppers, and repeat family purchases.

The friction points come from policy. Comfort is subjective, and tuning the layers is DIY. Returns require you to donate the mattress yourself with mailed proof and cut labels. There's no pickup or removal service. Extra freight and taxes are nonrefundable. Marketplace orders must go through that seller. The brand doesn't publish third-party aggregate scores or BBB and litigation status (checked September 2026).

Where can you try and buy?

You buy online only, direct at spindlemattress.com for mattresses, foundation, layers and covers. The brand doesn't publish showrooms or try-before-you-buy stores. Spindle also lists through marketplaces. Its returns page names Wayfair, Amazon and Etsy as examples. Marketplace orders must be returned through that seller.

Support is by email, Monday to Friday 9 AM to 4:30 PM PST, and closed weekends. We didn't verify a phone number or address on the pages we read. The brand says US partners make beds to order and it doesn't run its own factory. It doesn't publish headquarters or factory-ownership details (checked September 2026).

Delivery, setup and removal

Delivery is free by FedEx no-contact anywhere in the contiguous 48 states. It excludes APO, FPO and PO boxes. Typical lead time is 7 to 10 days, since beds are made to order. FedEx brings it to your doorstep, though freight carriers may be used by location.

There's no white-glove setup and no old-mattress removal. Spindle states it can't take the mattress back or remove it from your home, which also shapes the return process. Unopened 3 in layers ship back at your expense within 30 days. Check checkout and the returns page for Alaska, Hawaii and Canada terms and fees before you order.

Sleep trial and returns

You get a 120-night home trial, and Spindle urges about 60 days of sleeping plus troubleshooting first. The trial covers one mattress refund per household. You handle it directly with Spindle within 120 days of arrival. First, contact staff to try rearranged layers, base checks or a different latex mix.

If you're still unhappy, you donate the mattress to a nonprofit and mail proof of donation plus cut identifying labels. The refund goes to your original card and takes 5 to 10 business days to post. It's a full money-back promise on the mattress. But extra Canada, Alaska and Hawaii freight, brokerage, GST, QST and HST, donation, hauling, cleaning and disposal costs aren't reimbursed. Cancelling before shipment is free.

Exchanges are layer swaps and troubleshooting, not a formal program. Unopened 3 in layers and foundations can go back in original packing within 30 days at your postage. Opened comfort layers are final, except transit damage or misshipment reported within 30 days. Outlet and as-is goods are final. Marketplace purchases follow that seller's policy.

Warranty

You get a 10-year limited warranty from purchase date as the original purchaser, with proof of purchase. Service doesn't extend the term. It covers structural manufacturing faults in latex layers, such as sag exceeding 3/4 inch in the latex only. The cover is excluded. The remedy is repair or replacement of deficient materials, shipped free within the 48 states, or comparable stock if the originals are unavailable. The foundation has 10 years only when bought with the mattress.

Exclusions include cover ticking, normal aging and softening, comfort preference, sheet fit and height. Clearance, demo, as-is and B-stock items are out. So are damage, neglect, misuse, soiling and unhygienic condition. Your wrong base voids it too. Full, Queen and King need a rigid center brace with at least two floor legs. A removed law tag and consequential damages are also excluded.

Direct buyers contact Spindle with claims. Marketplace buyers contact the seller first. Separately, the 25-Year Comfort Life program lets the original owner buy a replacement latex layer at 30 percent off at any time.

Spindle vs. other brands

Against Avocado, PlushBeds and Birch, which also use certified-organic latex, Spindle's edge is price, often hundreds less at Queen. You also get user-rearrangeable latex layers and split-firmness options. Its gap is no stores, no white-glove delivery or removal, and a donate-it-yourself return where rivals pick up the mattress.

Against Saatva Latex Hybrid, Spindle leans fully organic-certified and DIY-tunable. Saatva offers white-glove delivery and a bigger showroom presence at higher prices. Against budget bed-in-a-box hybrids, Spindle costs more. It offers certified organic materials and a 25-year layer-discount program instead of poly-foam comfort layers. Verify rival specs and prices yourself, since we didn't run side-by-side lab testing.

How we put this review together

We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.

Quick answers before you buy

Is Spindle's latex really certified organic?

Spindle states its cotton is GOTS-certified and its Dunlop latex is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOLS-certified. See the latex product page specs, and ask support for current certificate copies before you buy.

Can I change the firmness after buying?

Yes on the all-latex. Unzip the cover and reorder the Soft, Medium and Firm 3 in layers, for about 5 to 7.5 of 10. On the Hybrid you pick Soft, Medium or Firm at purchase.

How does the 120-night return actually work?

Troubleshoot with staff first. Then donate the mattress to a nonprofit and mail proof plus cut labels, and Spindle refunds your card. There's no pickup or removal service.

What does the 10-year warranty cover?

It covers latex-layer manufacturing defects, such as sag over 3/4 inch in the latex. The cover is excluded. It's for the original owner with a receipt, law tag and proper foundation.

Where is it made and how long is delivery?

US partners design, quilt, sew, assemble and package it, and the latex comes from Sri Lanka. Delivery typically takes 7 to 10 days with free contiguous-48 FedEx delivery.

Does Spindle remove my old mattress?

No. Delivery is doorstep only, and Spindle states it can't remove a mattress from your home.
