SoundAsleep Mattress Review

SoundAsleep Products is a New Jersey family-owned inflatable airbed brand. It isn't a foam, latex, or innerspring mattress maker, and it's distinct from Sound Sleep Products. It has three series for guests, travel, and camping: Dream from $149.95, CloudNine from $224.95, and Camping from $79.95. You get 30-day returns and a 1-year limited warranty on website and Amazon orders. It's best for temporary guest beds. The caveat is that everyday use voids the warranty, so you shouldn't use it as your main bed.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

If you sleep on your side, the 19-inch raised Dream and CloudNine beds with flocked tops fit best for occasional guest use. CloudNine's 3 firmness settings help tune the feel. The brand doesn't publish pressure-mapping or position-specific test data.

Back sleepers get the flattest surface from a fully inflated raised model. The brand advises a 10-second top-up with air if you use it more than 2 nights in a row. If you sleep on your stomach, use the firmest CloudNine setting. Airbeds aren't meant for nightly stomach sleeping.

PVC airbeds sleep warm compared with breathable foam or innerspring, and no cooling tech is claimed. The CloudNine Queen lists a 500-lb max load. The brand doesn't publish weight guidance for other models (checked September 2026). All guidance comes from the brand. These are temporary beds, not daily-use mattresses.

Mattress prices and value

These are brand-site prices as of September 2026. Camping Series starts from $79.95, and the Camping Queen is $89.95 (was $119.95). Dream Series starts from $149.95, and the Dream Queen is $149.95 (was $209.95). The homepage comparison panel lists Dream from $84.95 (was $119.95), likely the smallest size. CloudNine Series starts from $224.95, and the CloudNine Queen is $224.95 (was $319.95). The comparison panel lists CloudNine from $174.95 (was $249.95), likely the smallest size.

Amazon prices move on their own. The CloudNine and Dream Amazon pages showed no featured-offer price when we looked. SoundAsleep sits mid-range among premium airbeds. It costs more than budget Intex and Coleman PVC beds and is roughly in line with King Koil and EnerPlex raised airbeds. The extra cost buys pump automation and support branding, not daily-mattress durability. The brand doesn't publish financing or a price-match policy.

What are the mattresses made of?

These are inflatable PVC airbeds. They have no foam, latex, steel coils, or springs of the conventional kind. Support comes from ComfortCoil internal air coils. The Queen Dream lists 40, and CloudNine lists I-beam and ComfortCoil support. Indoor series have a dual-chamber double-height profile. Camping has a single-height 9-inch profile.

The enclosure is an extra-thick waterproof flocked PVC top, a multilayer tear-resistant PVC body (the brand calls it eco-friendly PVC), and a SureGrip anti-slide base. Dream has a 1-click built-in high-capacity pump. CloudNine has a dual smart pump, with a primary inflate and deflate pump plus a background pressure-monitoring pump, 3 firmness settings, and auto shut-off. Camping includes a rechargeable external pump.

The brand doesn't publish cover quilting, fire barrier, adhesive, or seam details. It publishes no certifications (CertiPUR-US, OEKO-TEX, GOTS, GOLS, or GREENGUARD), which is expected for PVC airbeds (checked September 2026).

How well do the mattresses hold up?

These claims come from the brand. The Limited 1-Year Warranty covers manufacturer defects that show up in the first year. It excludes punctures and holes from use. Everyday daily use for extended periods voids it. The brand steers needs over 2 months of daily use toward a traditional bed or futon.

The brand says it tests 100 percent of units in production. It fully inflates them twice to pre-stretch the PVC. It advises one full inflate and deflate cycle, plus routine top-ups, to settle firmness. PVC naturally stretches in early uses, and microholes can form near pump and valve areas, per the brand FAQ.

The brand doesn't publish independent durability or longevity testing (checked September 2026). No sag-depth threshold applies, since this is an airbed, not foam.

Customer reviews and complaints

On Amazon, the Dream Series flagship listing (B00FAW4O0A) has 4.4 out of 5 from 66,769 global ratings. The CloudNine listing (B01G5UZIAU) has 4.4 out of 5 from 1,782 global ratings, checked September 2026. Of those, 77 percent are 5-star, 9 percent 4-star, 5 percent 3-star, 2 percent 2-star, and 7 percent 1-star. It ranks number 59 in Air Mattresses. The brand site claims 65,000-plus Dream Series Amazon reviews.

Wirecutter's best-air-mattress review (updated July 29, 2026) kept Dream Series as a pick for several years. It praised the cozy feel, easy assembly, and a self-halting pump. Wirecutter later dropped it over slow pack-away (nearly five minutes), a strong PVC odor that lingered three weeks, and one unit that punctured immediately. It praised the brand's after-sale support.

The brand site has no on-page reviews. The brand doesn't publish a BBB rating or complaint counts (checked September 2026). Complaint themes include overnight air loss, PVC odor, seam and valve leaks, motor-overheat cutoff confusion, and pack-away effort. Most firmness-loss reports trace to PVC stretch and microleaks. The brand answers with pre-stretching, top-ups, and patch, PVC-glue, or Flex Tape repair guidance.

Where can you try and buy?

SoundAsleep sells only online, at soundasleepproducts.com and on Amazon.com from SoundAsleep Products. The brand warns that listings elsewhere aren't from them and carry no manufacturer warranty. It has no showrooms, dealers, or trial rooms, per the official FAQ.

You can contact support by email through the brand site or by phone at (347) 815-5995. The brand designs in its New Jersey headquarters, with production overseas. It doesn't publish sibling brands that share production. It's distinct from Sound Sleep Products, a separate conventional-mattress company.

Delivery, setup and removal

These are boxed small-parcel airbeds, not freight. Brand-site shipping speeds are Standard 5 to 7 business days, Expedited 3 to 5 business days, and Priority 2 business days. The pages we checked don't show costs. Amazon orders ship under Amazon terms.

To set up, unbox, unroll, and run the built-in pump (Dream and CloudNine) or the rechargeable external pump (Camping). Full inflation takes about 4 minutes. Allow one full inflate and deflate cycle on first uses to finish PVC stretching. Top up with about 10 seconds of air if you use it more than 2 nights in a row. Watch the inflation and switch off at the firmness you want. Only CloudNine has auto-off. Other models have a thermal cutoff after about 6 minutes from flat, which locks the motor for 60 minutes of cooling.

Use it on a flat floor. The brand doesn't publish a foundation or slat spec. White-glove setup and old-mattress removal don't apply.

Sleep trial and returns

The brand doesn't publish a conventional sleep trial. Instead, both channels offer hassle-free 30-day returns. For website purchases, you return within 30 days with no questions asked. You email support with your name, email, address, order ID, and reason. Then you ship the item to SoundAsleep Products, 10 Kilmer Rd, Edison, NJ 08817, at your expense. Trackable, insured shipping is recommended. Eligible refunds go to your original payment method within 10 business days. After 30 days there's no refund, only warranty.

For Amazon purchases, only Amazon customer support handles the 30-day return, at 1-866-216-1072. The brand can't process Amazon returns by hand. Exchanges go through the 1-year warranty repair-or-refurbished-exchange process, not a comfort exchange. The brand doesn't publish restocking fees.

Warranty

SoundAsleep's 1-Year Limited Warranty covers all products it sells on its website or Amazon.com. Products from other Amazon sellers, including Amazon Warehouse Deals, are excluded. It covers manufacturer defects that show up in the first year after purchase. It excludes punctures and holes from use, daily-use wear (everyday use for extended periods voids coverage), and normal PVC stretch.

To claim, you email support with your full name, email, address, order ID, and claim reason. For Amazon purchases, use the 17-digit Amazon Order ID. Once confirmed, you ship the item to 10 Kilmer Rd, Edison, NJ 08817, at your expense. The company pays shipping for the repaired or refurbished exchange back. The brand doesn't publish claim turnaround, a loaner policy, or proration (checked September 2026).

SoundAsleep vs. other brands

Against Intex, which makes budget PVC airbeds, SoundAsleep wins on raised height, flocked comfort tops, pump automation, and US-based support. Intex wins on price and wider retail availability. Against Coleman camping airbeds, SoundAsleep Camping competes on raised comfort and a rechargeable pump. Coleman wins on outdoor-retail presence and low price.

Against King Koil airbeds, you get similar raised guest-bed positioning with built-in pumps at similar prices. SoundAsleep wins on Dream Series review volume. King Koil wins on mattress-brand halo. Against EnerPlex, SoundAsleep wins on Wirecutter history and Amazon review depth.

Against conventional bed-in-box mattresses like Zinus and Lucid, airbeds aren't comparable. They lose on nightly durability, trial length, and certifications. They win only on price, portability, and guest-room flexibility.
