Seattle Mattress Company Review

Seattle Mattress Company is a family-owned showroom at 6019 15th Ave NW in Ballard, Seattle. It sells Therapedic innerspring and latex hybrids built in Auburn, WA. It also carries Tempur-Pedic, Magniflex, and its own eco-friendly and marine lines. It's best if you want to test beds in person, natural Talalay latex and firm support. The big caveat is that there's no refund sleep trial. You get a comfort exchange only. Online specs are also thin, so you'll want to visit the store.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Side sleepers should look at the Athena, Aphrodite and Briarcliff. They have 2.5 to 4 inches of Talalay latex over zoned coils for shoulder and hip relief. The Briarcliff (ILD 19 latex) is the cushion-firm pick if you want contour without sink. Back sleepers can look at the Athena and Briarcliff 5-zone pocket coils plus the firm Kai. The Hera adds gel cooling.

Stomach sleepers should look at the firmer Kai and Briarcliff single-sided builds. Plusher latex tops may let your hips sink too far. Hot sleepers get CoolMax covers on the Hera, Apollo and Selene, plus breathable Talalay latex and cashmere quilting. The Hera EcoGel targets heat. Heavy sleepers should pick coil-based hybrids (Athena, Hera, Briarcliff) over thin value innersprings. Per-size weight limits aren't published (checked September 2026).

Chemical-sensitive and eco shoppers get the best fit from the all-natural Highlands and the near line-wide no-chemical-fire-retardant claim. Budget shoppers can look at the Phoebe (Twin $499) and Selene (Twin $699). Luxury shoppers can look at the Highlands latex system and the Magnistretch imports. Boat, RV and hotel buyers can ask about custom-size and marine mattresses and volume discounts.

Mattress prices and value

Seattlemattress.net notes that the prices shown are for Twin. Phoebe is $499, Selene $699, Apollo $799, Kai $1,099, Hera $1,199, Athena $1,399, Aphrodite $1,499, Briarcliff $1,599 and Highlands $2,598. Tempur-ProAdapt Firm is $2,999, Magnistretch 12 is $3,599 and Magnistretch Plus is $4,299.

Larger sizes cost more. Athena goes up to $2,099, Aphrodite up to $2,499 and Highlands up to $4,198. Apollo goes up to $1,399, Hera up to $1,899 and Kai up to $1,799. Selene goes up to $1,399, Phoebe up to $949 and Briarcliff up to $2,299.

Value is strong for locally built latex hybrids under $1,700 in Twin, with published latex ILDs and coil counts. The Highlands near $2,600 in Twin is premium. It pairs a flippable two-piece latex system with a 20-year warranty. National-brand flagships run $3,000 to $4,300 in Twin. The brand doesn't publish financing, sale timing or per-size dimension charts (checked September 2026).

What are the mattresses made of?

Quilting fabrics include natural cashmere (Aphrodite, Athena) and CoolMax breathable fabric (Hera, Apollo, Selene). The Highlands uses organic cotton tufted with 100% natural wool and latex. The Kai uses hand-tufted cotton batting and wool.

Comfort layers include 100% natural botanical Talalay latex at 28 ILD (Aphrodite 4-inch, Athena 2.5-inch) and ILD 19 (Briarcliff 3-inch). Apollo and Selene use 5-inch CertiPUR-US convoluted foam. Hera has 2-inch EcoGel gel-infused soy-based foam plus firm support foam.

Support cores are foam-encased 805-count 5-zone Verticoil innerspring (Aphrodite, Apollo, Selene) and encased 858-coil 5-zoned pocket coil (Athena, Hera). Briarcliff uses a foam-encased pocket coil, and Kai a firm innerspring coil. Highlands has a solid 6-inch pure natural botanical Talalay core plus a lower-density topper. The site says almost all mattresses have no chemical fire retardants and use all-new materials. The brand doesn't list certifications beyond CertiPUR-US foam, such as GOTS, GOLS or OEKO-TEX (checked September 2026).

How well do the mattresses hold up?

The brand ties durability to natural latex resilience and local Auburn, WA craftsmanship. The Highlands page calls it the showroom best seller with the fewest exchanges and highest satisfaction. It claims the latex system holds its shape, comfort and resilience for two decades. Only the topper would eventually need replacing. A 20-year non-prorated warranty backs it. Therapedic innerspring and hybrid models carry 10-year non-prorated warranties.

The brand doesn't publish independent long-term wear tests, sag limits or owner-reported lifespan (checked September 2026). So treat the two-decade claim as a brand claim, not verified performance.

Customer reviews and complaints

We couldn't verify Google or Yelp ratings with counts and averages as of September 2026. On its own site, the brand calls the Highlands the showroom best seller with the fewest exchanges and highest satisfaction. It also notes volume and hospitality business and deeply discounted final-sale comfort-exchange floor stock.

Brand copy points to praise for local craftsmanship, latex comfort and competitive pricing. We couldn't find complaint themes from verified reviewers. Since returns are exchange-only, confirm the comfort-exchange terms before you buy.

Where can you try and buy?

You can try beds in person at the single Ballard showroom. It's at 6019 15th Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98107. Call (206) 632-2240. It's open 7 days a week, 11am to 7pm.

You can buy in store or online through seattlemattress.net. It lists Therapedic, Seattle Mattress brand, Magniflex, Tempur-Pedic, eco-friendly and marine categories. You'll also find pillows, bedding and adjustable bases. We couldn't confirm any other store, authorized dealer or marketplace storefront as of September 2026. Hospitality and bulk purchasing is offered direct.

Delivery, setup and removal

Delivery is local to Seattle. If you order by Sunday, you can typically get delivery the Friday after. Custom and marine builds vary. Orders of $699 or more within the local area get delivery plus old-bed removal at no extra charge. The area runs roughly from Shoreline NW 205th St in the north to the International District and Madrona in the south. A full ZIP list is on the FAQ page.

Under $699, or outside the area, self pickup is the cheapest choice. Long-distance deliveries add charges, including $75 per extra hour or part-hour beyond an hour each way, plus ferry and toll fees. Exchange deliveries cost extra, or you can drop off and pick up free. The brand doesn't publish setup details (room of choice, stairs, assembly) or old-mattress recycling details (checked September 2026).

Sleep trial and returns

There's no money-back sleep trial or free-return policy. The store offers a one-time comfort exchange per mattress instead. If the comfort feels wrong, you can exchange within 90 days of receipt. The first 30 days are recommended as break-in time before you decide.

Price differences settle as store credit for a cheaper exchange or an added payment for a pricier one. Redelivery costs extra, or you can drop off and pick up free. Custom sizes, marine mattresses, floor models and earlier comfort-exchange mattresses aren't eligible. Those exchange resales are deeply discounted final sales. The brand doesn't publish restocking and pickup fees beyond the exchange delivery charge (checked September 2026).

Warranty

Therapedic models built in Auburn, WA carry a 10-year non-prorated warranty. That's stated on the Aphrodite, Athena and Phoebe pages. The Highlands all-latex system carries a 20-year non-prorated full warranty. The site says mattresses have full manufacturer warranties covering defects. Tempur-Pedic and Magniflex follow their makers' terms.

The brand doesn't publish sag limits, foundation needs, stain and law-tag rules or claim shipping costs (checked September 2026). Comfort preference goes through the 90-day exchange policy, not the warranty. Custom, marine, floor-model and comfort-exchange resale mattresses have no exchange option.

Seattle Mattress Company vs. other brands

Against Sealy, Beautyrest and Serta, Seattle Mattress leans on locally built Therapedic hybrids. You get published Talalay ILDs and coil counts at competitive prices instead of national advertising. Against Avocado, Savvy Rest and PlushBeds, the Highlands and Talalay hybrids tell a comparable natural-latex story, with in-person testing. They lack published GOTS or GOLS certifications.

Against bed-in-a-box brands, you get no compressed shipping, no free trial and no free returns. You do get a real showroom and local delivery with old-bed removal. Against local factory-direct shops, the Auburn-built Therapedic line plus marine and custom work sets it apart. A single showroom limits its reach.

How we put this review together
