Ortho Mattress Review
Ortho Mattress is a Southern California retail chain and factory-direct maker. It's been family-owned since 1957 and has 20+ SoCal stores. Its seven house-brand lines start with the budget Club I innerspring, about $250 for a queen on sale. They top out at the premium Astro memory foam, about $3,840 for a queen. A 100-night comfort exchange and a 25-year warranty back each bed. The trial's exchange-only, not a refund. You'll need a SoCal showroom or the regional site to buy.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?
Back sleepers should try Continental II Firm, Signature Classic Firm and Club I Extra Firm. They keep your hips lifted and aligned. Stomach sleepers can look at the firm zoned options (Continental II Firm, Avenue II Firm), which suit lighter frames. If you're a heavier stomach sleeper, test edge support in the store.
Side sleepers get cushioning for shoulders and hips from Westbourne II Pillow Top, Club I Pillow Top and Astro Soft. Combination sleepers should look at Signature Hybrid in either feel. Hot sleepers can try Astro (CoolQuilt cover), Continental II (CoolQuilt fabric) and Westbourne II (Polar Cool fabric). Couples get less motion transfer from the wrapped-coil hybrids: Continental II, Signature Hybrid and Westbourne II.
The brand doesn't publish weight limits, coil counts or gauges (checked September 2026), so test heavier builds in the store. Firmness feel varies by body. Finish the 30-night break-in before you judge or exchange.
Mattress prices and value
We captured these queen mattress-only prices in September 2026 from orthomattress.com. Club I is $249.99 on sale (reg $349.99). Club I Extra Firm and Pillow Top are $599.99. Signature Classic is $1,089.99 and Signature Hybrid is $1,149.99. Westbourne II Firm and Plush are $1,879.99, and the Pillow Top is $1,979.99. Avenue II is $1,949.99, Continental II is $2,169.99 and Astro is $3,839.99. Twin starts near $200 (Club I on sale).
Foundations, bunkie boards and adjustable bases add roughly $115 to $800+ by size and model. Club I undercuts most national value innersprings. The mid-lines price near big-box hybrids and bundle scheduled in-home delivery. Astro costs as much as luxury nationals without published third-party test scores. Watch floor-sample clearance listings and SoCal sales events for discounts.
What are the mattresses made of?
Per the official product pages, OrthoPlex zoned support foam is in Astro, Avenue II and Continental II. Astro also has Avant HD and gel-infused visco memory foam. The Signature lines use gel-infused memory foam comfort layers. Westbourne II has a natural latex comfort layer. Individually wrapped coil units, some described as reinforced 360-degree systems, are in Continental II, Westbourne II and Signature Hybrid. Club I and Signature Classic use traditional innerspring cores. SolidState edge support is in Club I and Signature Hybrid. Cooling covers are branded CoolQuilt (Astro, Continental II) and Polar Cool (Westbourne II).
The brand states CertiPUR-US foam for Club I Extra Firm and Club I Pillow Top. It does not publish CertiPUR-US, GOTS, GOLS, OEKO-TEX or other certifications for the other models (checked September 2026). It also doesn't publish layer thicknesses, foam densities, coil counts or wire gauges.
How well do the mattresses hold up?
The durability evidence is the brand's own. Ortho says fewer than 1% of its mattresses need warranty service. It backs house beds with a 25-year full-replacement warranty. The sag threshold is 1 inch for spring beds and 0.75 inch for foam beds.
We found no independent durability testing, owner sag statistics or model-level longevity data (checked September 2026). House foams have no published density figures, so you can't judge long-term sag resistance from specs. Your practical protection is the 100-night exchange window and the warranty terms.
Customer reviews and complaints
On-site testimonials skew positive. Shoppers praise no-pressure, knowledgeable staff. Reviews name the La Mesa, Irvine Alton, San Fernando Valley, Long Beach, Glendale, Glendora and Torrance stores. They also praise trouble-free in-home delivery with old-bed haul-away. Site badges tout the 100-night trial and a best-in-class warranty.
The brand doesn't publish Google, Yelp or BBB ratings and complaint counts (checked September 2026). The Yelp and BBB pages weren't available when we checked. We found no recurring independent complaint themes. The exchange-only trial and the $99.99 redelivery fee are the likeliest friction points, but that's our inference, not sourced complaint data.
Where can you try and buy?
Ortho is a Southern California chain. Official pages cite over 20 SoCal showrooms. The about page also says over 60 locations overall, serving Southern California and Arizona communities. You can test every house model in a store. Shopper reviews name La Mesa, Irvine (Alton), San Fernando Valley, Long Beach, Glendale, Glendora and Torrance.
You can buy in showrooms, through the mattress quiz and appointment booking on orthomattress.com, or through the e-store. Out-of-state orders go through chat or estore@orthomattress.com. Stores also carry Beautyrest, Aireloom and Casper. Phone and live-chat support are advertised. There's no national dealer network, and you won't find bed-in-a-box shipping.
Delivery, setup and removal
In-home delivery with setup and old-mattress removal serves most Southern California ZIP codes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In-state orders ship from the Cerritos, California warehouse. Out-of-state orders ship from warehouse partners in 7 to 14 business days. Product pages list a $99.99 delivery service. Taxes and shipping are calculated at checkout. California law adds a mattress recycling fee, which the site cites as $18 per piece. Non-local delivery cost is set at checkout by address.
Adjustable-compatible builds come with Signature, Charcoal and Grand Luxe boxes, bunkie boards and adjustable bases. The brand does not publish exact base specs (checked September 2026).
Sleep trial and returns
It's a 100-night comfort guarantee, not a refund trial. Sleep on the bed at least 30 nights. Then, within 100 nights, you may make a one-time exchange to a mattress of equal or greater value. You pay any price difference. It applies only to mattresses $499.99 and up, so the sale-priced Club I Luxury Firm is excluded at current pricing.
Stains, damage, abuse or removed law tags void the exchange. A protector is recommended. It excludes furniture, adjustable bases, custom sizes, as-is and clearance beds, warranty swaps, pillows, protectors and sheets. You can't cancel the original purchase. Local redelivery for the exchange costs $99.99, and the brand doesn't claim a restocking fee. Outside Southern California, you pay additional delivery charges. Accessories and bases are final sale.
Warranty
House beds carry a 25-year full-replacement warranty per product pages, badged best-in-class. Typical coverage replaces the mattress if the surface compresses 1 inch or more on spring beds, or 0.75 inch or more on foam beds. Normal wear and tear is excluded.
To claim, contact customer service or the local showroom with your invoice. A service form is filed, and a paid third-party inspector visits. If a defect is confirmed, Ortho issues a replacement-value credit toward any product it carries, in exchange for the defective bed. Warranty length and terms differ by model, so confirm at purchase. National-brand beds sold in store carry their manufacturer warranties. The brand does not publish a prorating schedule (checked September 2026).
Ortho Mattress vs. other brands
Against Mattress Firm and Sit 'n Sleep, its SoCal showroom rivals, Ortho's edge is factory-direct house builds made domestically, with scheduled in-home delivery and haul-away. Its limits are a regional footprint and an exchange-only trial. Against Saatva and other national direct-to-consumer brands, Ortho wins on in-person testing and local service. It loses on nationwide white-glove shipping and bed-in-a-box convenience.
Against Beautyrest, which is sold inside Ortho stores, the house lines compete on price. Beautyrest offers national warranty servicing. Against budget bed-in-a-box labels, Club I is price-competitive. It requires a store purchase and scheduled delivery rather than doorstep shipping.
How we put this review together
We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
