Lifekind Mattress Review
Lifekind sells certified-organic latex and innerspring mattresses handcrafted in Colorado since 1997. It lists seven models, starting at $2,295 on sale and topping $5,295. Every bed carries GOTS certification CU 823400 and ships free by freight. You also get a 90-day comfort exchange and a 20-year limited warranty. It's best for chemical-conscious shoppers. The biggest caveat is that made-to-order beds are non-refundable, so you can exchange but you can't get your money back.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?
If you're a side sleeper, the plusher all-latex picks give shoulder and hip cushioning. Those are the Lassen sculpted pillow-top, Euro Soft-Top and Trio or Metta in Medium. Latex gives lift rather than deep memory-foam sink. Back sleepers can try Euro or Metta in Medium-Firm, or the Combo hybrid for coil support with latex comfort. Stomach sleepers can pick a Firm Euro or the Firm-only Traditional latex-free innerspring. Heavier sleepers should look at flippable coil builds (Combo, Traditional) or Firm latex for support and edge strength.
Hot sleepers get breathable latex, cotton and moisture-moving wool in every model, with no foam. Lassen adds sculpted airflow. Couples can choose the Trio, with a split middle layer for different firmness per side. Coil models isolate motion less than all-latex. If allergies or sensitivities drive your search, the Traditional is the latex-free pick.
Mattress prices and value
Starting-at prices observed in September 2026 (sale, then regular): Euro $2,295 and $2,795. Euro Soft-Top $2,295 and $2,795. Metta $2,295 and $2,795. Combo $3,095 and $3,795. Traditional $3,395, with no sale price published. Lassen $3,495 and $4,295. Trio $4,295 and $5,295, the highest.
Premium certified-organic pricing runs well above conventional hybrids but in line with GOTS-certified rivals. Sale discounts are frequent, roughly $500 to $1,000. The value rests on verified materials, flippable two-sided longevity and the 20-year warranty, not low price. The pages we reviewed don't publish financing, bundle or price-match terms.
What are the mattresses made of?
The builds use GOLS Dunlop latex from tree sap, GOTS New Zealand wool and GOTS cotton knit, woven and batting. Wool balances temperature, moves moisture and acts as a natural fire barrier through its nitrogen and water content. The Combo adds a 6-inch tempered-steel coil unit. The brand says there's no polyurethane foam, chemical flame retardants, fiberglass, synthetic adhesives, azo dyes, formaldehyde or GMO materials.
The finished product holds GOTS license CU 823400. You can verify it at global-standard.org/find-suppliers-shops-and-inputs/certifiedsuppliers/details?q=823400. The brand claims a yearly Control Union audit. It also uses GOTS organic cotton and wool and GOLS-certified latex, though it publishes no GOLS license number. The brand doesn't claim or publish GREENGUARD, OEKO-TEX or CertiPUR-US on the pages we reviewed. Beds are made in Colorado, USA, from domestic and imported materials. The latex-free option is the Traditional.
How well do the mattresses hold up?
A 20-year limited warranty covers the first buyer, direct purchase only. Years 1 to 10 are full coverage. Then you get prorated credit starting at 20% in year 11 and declining 2 points yearly. The brand makes a one-time replacement at its option, and repairs locally if possible. Body impressions up to 1.5 inches count as normal settling, not defects.
The brand reports several durability signals. Flippable two-sided designs (Euro, Combo, Traditional, Lassen) even out wear. Zippered Trio and Metta layers can be replaced for comfort changes. The latex-over-coil Combo is framed as stronger-edged. The brand doesn't publish independent durability testing, such as RTINGS-style cycle tests (checked September 2026).
To keep the warranty, you need a Lifekind box spring or slatted base with gaps of 3 in at most. Full, Queen and King need a center-braced frame. Don't use an adjustable base under coil models. Move the mattress on edge only.
Customer reviews and complaints
The brand site claims a near-five-star shopper score. We couldn't extract per-model star counts or review volumes from the pages we reviewed, because several product and policy pages returned no readable text. We couldn't read third-party ratings from Trustpilot, BBB or Google in September 2026, because the sites wouldn't show them to us. So we have no verified third-party score to share.
Brand copy points to praise for organic purity, craftsmanship and sleep-consultation help. No complaint themes are independently verified. Shoppers of made-to-order organic brands generally cite exchange-only terms, wait times and firmness surprises as risks. Set your expectations on the 15-night minimum before an exchange, and on the Medium-Firm feel of wool-quilted latex. The brand doesn't publish detailed review counts.
Where can you try and buy?
You buy direct at lifekind.com. The collections page lists all seven mattresses with free shipping, 90-day exchange and 20-year warranty badges. You also get free phone sleep consultations, a 3-question mattress-finder quiz and mailed catalogs on request. We found no retail showrooms, dealer network or store locator on the reviewed pages. Business hours are Pacific, Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm, closed Friday to Sunday.
The mailing and support address on the warranty page is 6400 S Fiddlers Green Circle #250-1017, Greenwood Village, CO 80111. The toll-free number is (800) 284-4983. We found no Amazon, Wayfair or big-box listings. A sibling company, OMI (Organic Mattresses, Inc., omimattress.com), shares the registered Sleep Organic trademark, Colorado made-to-order production and organic positioning. But lifekind.com doesn't state any Lifekind-OMI ownership as of September 2026.
Delivery, setup and removal
Mattresses ship free via flat-packed freight to the contiguous 48 states only. The brand doesn't publish Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or international shipping. Beds are made to order in 14 to 21 business days, plus 5 to 7 business days in transit. The Metta can ship roll-packed by courier on request.
We found no white-glove setup, threshold placement details or Haul Away old-mattress removal terms or fees on the reviewed pages (checked September 2026). For your base, use a Lifekind box spring or slatted foundation with slats 3 in apart at most. Queen and larger need center support. Don't place the bed on the floor or a classic box spring, because it needs airflow. Combo and Traditional aren't for adjustable bases. All-latex models are compatible.
Sleep trial and returns
There's no money-back sleep trial. Made-to-order mattresses, toppers and bases can't be canceled or refunded once shipping is arranged. Instead you get a one-time 90-Day Comfort Exchange. It runs within 90 days of delivery, after at least 15 nights, for firmness adjustment or exchange. The brand explicitly says it's not a return or refund.
For cancellation, you get a full refund within 72 hours of ordering. After 72 hours but before shipment booking, there's a 20% cancellation fee. Stored-ready items count as shipped. Ready-stock goods that aren't custom or final-sale can be returned within 30 days, unused in sealed packaging, with authorization. That carries a 20% restocking fee plus non-refundable original shipping. You pay return freight unless the item is defective or the brand made an error. For damage or defects, note it on the carrier papers and report it in writing within 5 days.
Warranty
The 20-year limited warranty covers significant defects in materials and workmanship. It's for the original buyer purchasing direct from Lifekind. Years 1 to 10 are full. Years 11 to 20 give prorated credit, 20% in year 11, minus 2% yearly after. The remedy is local repair if possible, or a one-time replacement at Lifekind's option. It isn't transferable.
Excluded are impressions to 1.5 in and comfort-preference changes. Folding or bending coils, standing or jumping on the bed, solid-board bases and adjustable-base use of coil models are excluded. So are self-disassembly of zippered layers, stains, moisture, mildew, burns, odors or sensitivities, and floor samples or as-is goods. Claims need your original receipt, law label and an RA number. Lifekind pays freight for confirmed defects in year one. After year one, you prepay, and it's refunded if the claim is warrantable. Full text is at lifekind.com/pages/mattress-warranty, and refund terms are at lifekind.com/policies/refund-policy.
Lifekind vs. other brands
Against OMI and Organicpedic, a likely sibling, Lifekind shares organic latex, Colorado build and the Sleep Organic trademark family. Compare GOTS license numbers and exchange terms before you choose. Against Avocado, both are GOTS and GOLS latex hybrids. Avocado offers true 365-night refunds and retail stores, while Lifekind is exchange-only. Against Naturepedic, both are certified-organic, no-foam builds. Naturepedic adds GREENGUARD and GOTS kid lines and clearer trial terms.
Against PlushBeds, you get similar latex customization (Botanical Bliss versus Trio and Metta). PlushBeds publishes trial and return terms more prominently. Lifekind wins on flippable two-sided longevity and a latex-free Traditional option. It loses on refund flexibility, delivery speed and third-party review transparency.
How we put this review together
We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
