Hawn Bedding Mattress Review

Hawn Bedding is a family-owned, factory-direct maker in Lee's Summit, Missouri, in business since 1946. Seven named models run from about $473 for a Twin Royale innerspring to about $2,880 for a King latex. Double-sided builds carry a 10-year pro-rated warranty. You get a 60-day adjustment or return window, with restocking and delivery fees. Kansas City-area delivery is free, with old-bed disposal. It suits local shoppers who want a flippable innerspring, pocket-coil or Talalay latex bed. There's no free national sleep trial, and the warranty depends on strict flip, rotate and support rules.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

If you sleep on your side, the brand steers you to Royale soft, Aspen pocket coil and Latex for shoulder and hip pressure relief. If you sleep on your back or stomach, look at Riviera, Orthopedic and Super Orthopedic for lift and firm support. The pocket-coil page says it suits all positions.

Heavier sleepers get Super Orthopedic extra firm plus flippability for extended wear. For hot sleepers, the brand's story is coil airflow and latex's open-cell breathability. That's brand-reported, with no test data.

The brand says the latex bed suits even severe respiratory and latex sensitivities. It doesn't publish medical evidence or certification, so treat that as a claim. It doesn't publish per-model sleeper test data either, so you'll pick comfort in the showroom or by phone.

Mattress prices and value

Innerspring prices run about $473 for a Royale Twin to about $1,880 for an Orthopedic or Super Orthopedic Cal King. Queen prices read from the site in September 2026 are about $724 Royale, $1,008 Park Lane, $1,144 Riviera and $1,291 Orthopedic and Super Orthopedic.

Pocket coil (Aspen medium, Denver firm) runs $1,281 Twin and Twin XL, $1,492 Full, $1,670 Queen, $1,915 King and $2,215 Cal King. Latex runs $1,570 Twin, $1,573 Twin XL, $2,298 Full, $2,372 Queen, $2,705 Cal King and $2,880 King.

Factory-direct pricing sits near or below national mid-range innerspring and latex prices. Two-sided builds double the wear surface. But you'll pay 15 to 25 percent restocking plus $50 delivery or pickup on adjustments and returns, and $150 to $350 for long-distance shipping. Synchrony financing is offered. The brand doesn't publish a price-match policy (checked September 2026).

What are the mattresses made of?

Every mattress is a double-sided flippable, built to order in Lee's Summit from largely domestic parts. It's made the day before delivery. Innerspring models layer coil units with padded foam. Pocket-coil models use individually wrapped coils. The latex model centers on Talalay latex with an open-cell structure.

The fire barrier is a woven chemical-free fabric the brand compares to Nomex cloth in firefighter uniforms. Coil Box wood-and-coil and Platform Box foundations are sold alongside.

The brand doesn't publish CertiPUR-US, GOTS, GOLS or OEKO-TEX claims. It doesn't publish foam densities, ILDs, latex blend, coil counts, gauges or ticking fiber content either (checked September 2026).

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Durability evidence comes from the brand only. Hawn claims 10 to 15 years of life with proper care, and says two-sided builds double the wear surface. The 10-year limited pro-rated warranty covers factory defects and body impressions over 1 inch. That applies on Latex, Aspen, Park Lane, Riviera, Orthopedic and Super Orthopedic. Impressions on both sides must be within one-quarter inch of each other.

You'll need to flip and rotate every 30 days for the life of the bed. Support rules are strict. You need a solid firm foundation, a center support leg to the floor and at least 5 slats. Wire-grid foundations and stacking on another mattress aren't allowed.

Claim costs follow a pro-rated schedule of current comparable retail. Year 1 is free. Years 2 to 5 are 15 percent, Year 6 is 20, Year 7 is 25, Year 8 is 30, Year 9 is 35 and Year 10 is 40 percent. A $50 service or inspection charge applies. We found no independent durability testing (checked September 2026).

Customer reviews and complaints

The on-site testimonials page has roughly ten letters. They include a Queen Aspen owner who praised flipping and better sleep, and a 1996 letter from a back-surgery household. Other themes are repeat buyers, referrals, delivery-crew courtesy and adjustable-bed satisfaction. The page shows no star ratings, counts or dates.

We couldn't verify Google, Yelp, BBB, Sleep Foundation, RTINGS or NapLab ratings, so we quote none (checked September 2026).

Likely friction points come from policy text, not verified complaints. You'd face restocking and delivery fees. Like-new condition rules double those fees if you fail them. Custom sizes and phone orders are excluded from firmness changes. The warranty can be denied if you skip flipping or support rules.

Where can you try and buy?

There's one factory showroom at 2350 NE Independence Avenue, Suite A, Lee's Summit, MO 64064. Phone is (816) 524-4296 and fax is (816) 524-9047. Hours are Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Sunday is closed.

You can also order at hawnbedding.com with size and comfort selectors, or by phone. Frames, pillows, protectors, foundations, adjustable beds and Coil or Platform boxes are sold alongside. The same factory builds hotel, hospital, fire department, education and truck mattresses, plus custom RV, waterbed replacement, antique, hide-a-bed and roll-away work.

The brand has no national dealer network (checked September 2026). Outside the Kansas City area, it ships from the factory only.

Delivery, setup and removal

Local delivery is the core offer. It's free across greater Kansas City, usually 2 to 3 days after ordering, with free disposal of your old mattress. Rural delivery out to about 100 miles from Lee's Summit has a small charge, so call first. Long-distance shipping runs roughly $150 to $350 and usually takes 6 or more days.

Hawn calls or emails to schedule a window. Windows are 8 AM to 3 PM Monday through Thursday and 8 AM to 11 AM Friday. Every mattress is made the day before it goes out. The brand doesn't detail room setup or old-bed removal outside the metro, so confirm at checkout. The warranty needs a solid foundation with a center leg to the ground and at least 5 slats.

Sleep trial and returns

The brand doesn't publish a free sleep trial. Your safety net is a 60-day firmness-adjustment policy. You get up to two changes, none before a 30-day break-in. The first costs 15 percent restocking plus $50 delivery. The second costs 25 percent plus $50. Price differences are refunded or collected then.

Full returns are accepted within 60 days of delivery, with 25 percent restocking plus a $50 pickup fee, after reasonable attempts to fix issues. Adjustments and returns need like-new condition, with no stains, damage, odors or pests. If you fail that, the restocking fee doubles.

Custom sizes (antique, California King, RV), phone and third-party orders, adjustable bases, pillows, pads and protectors are excluded from firmness changes. Bases and bedding can't be returned.

Warranty

The 10-year limited pro-rated warranty covers Latex, Aspen, Park Lane, Riviera, Orthopedic and Super Orthopedic. It covers the original buyer with the original bill of sale, from delivery day. Repairs or replacements don't reset the clock. It covers factory defects such as loose, broken or protruding coils and wires. It also covers body impressions over 1 inch, measured with a straight edge, on both sides within one-quarter inch.

Exclusions include comfort preference, soft spots, impressions under 1 inch, stains, abuse, edge sitting, moisture, fire, smoke, pests and improper support. Unflipped or unrotated beds, use over 8 hours per day and as-is sales are excluded too. Frames or foundations not bought from or set up by Hawn can void coverage.

Claim cost follows the year-of-ownership schedule plus $50. A $50 prepaid inspection applies to repairs. Hawn interprets terms at its discretion. Adjustable bases fall under their own makers' warranties.

Hawn Bedding vs. other brands

Against Sealy, Serta and Beautyrest, Hawn competes on two-sided flippability, local made-to-order builds and Queen innersprings under $1,300. It trails on trial generosity, national availability and published specs.

Against bed-in-a-box brands like Casper, Nectar and Zinus, Hawn wins on double-sided longevity and local service. It loses on free trials and easy returns. Against latex specialists Savvy Rest, PlushBeds and Avocado, its Talalay Queen near $2,372 undercuts several natural-latex rivals. It lacks organic certification.

Against regional factory-direct makers like Original Mattress Factory and Verlo, the craft story is similar. Hawn has a stricter fee-backed adjustment policy and a narrower showroom footprint.
