Ecosa Mattress Review
Ecosa is a Melbourne-founded (2015) bed-in-a-box brand with two adult mattress lines in Australia. The adjustable 3-layer all-foam Ecosa Mattress (25cm) starts at AU$870. The Pure Hybrid (29cm) starts at AU$1,580. Both have a 100-night trial and a 15-year limited warranty. It suits you if you want flippable firmness. The big catch is that the US store lists no mattresses as of September 2026, so you can't order one from the US.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?
If you sleep on your back, either model in a medium or medium-firm setup should suit an average-weight sleeper who wants spinal alignment. Reviewers note even, straight-lying support. If you sleep on your side, the Plush Edition of the all-foam model or the Medium-Plush Pure Hybrid should suit best. But reviewers call even the softest setups firm-leaning, so strict side sleepers who want deep sink should note that. If you sleep on your stomach, choose the firmer arrangements of either model.
If you weigh under about 60kg, you may find the tops slow to soften, per third-party testing. If you're heavier, the Pure Hybrid with zoned pocket springs and edge support is the safer pick. A third-party review rates the all-foam model to 300kg total, but the brand doesn't confirm it. Both models are positioned for low partner disturbance. For hot sleepers, open-cell foams, micro-coils, latex and Tencel covers target airflow. Some reviews still mention foam warmth.
Mattress prices and value
The all-foam Ecosa Mattress runs AU$870 (Single) to AU$1,740 (Super King). The Pure Hybrid runs AU$1,580 (Double) to AU$2,370 (Super King). Email-member pricing takes 20% off, so a Queen is AU$992 for the all-foam model and AU$1,392 for the Pure. The all-foam bundle includes a waterproof protector valued up to AU$220.
These are sharp mid-range Australian prices next to rivals such as Koala and Sleeping Duck. The adjustability gives you two to three firmness feels in one purchase. The frequent 20%-off member price is the real street price. Financing is 4 interest-free instalments at checkout. Old US pricing from an older third-party review (Twin US$500 to King US$850) is obsolete. Old-mattress recycling costs AU$125 extra.
What are the mattresses made of?
The Ecosa Mattress Original Edition has a top cover of 350g Tencel, recycled polyester and polyester, with a recycled zip. Inside are BounceTech, Contour and Support foams (100% polyurethane), polyester inner and side fabrics and a recycled-polyester base cover. It's 25cm tall. The Plush Edition has the same cover with G-7 memory foam (100% polyurethane) plus support foam. Third-party reviewers also describe a ventilated high-density polyfoam base.
The Pure Hybrid has a Tencel and polyester cover with OceanCycle recycled polyester and a GRS-certified zip. Inside is natural Dunlop latex, with gel memory foam (Medium-Firm) or copper-infused and plush foams (Medium-Plush). It uses fine-gauge steel micro-coils and zoned steel pocket springs (1.2/1.3mm or 1.2/1.4mm gauge depending on edition) with 1.6mm edge springs. The brand claims 4x the springs of a standard hybrid. It's 29cm tall. Published weights run from 46.3kg (Double) to 75.9kg (Super King).
Published certifications are CertiPUR-US foams, Global Recycled Standard zips and fabrics, and OceanCycle cover content. The brand does not publish foam densities, coil counts, latex percentages or country of origin (checked September 2026). The brand also lists an Essence mattress (memory foam and pocket springs) and Kids and Cot mattresses. We haven't verified those.
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Both models carry a 15-year limited warranty. It covers manufacturing defects and impressions over 20mm on a proper foundation, plus zipper and cover-fabric defects. Cover-only faults get a cover replacement. That 20mm sag threshold is stricter than the 25mm-plus norm many rivals use. The brand doesn't publish independent long-term durability testing. Brand claims include 750,000-plus sleepers and CHOICE Best Mattress Brand in 2025 and 2026.
Third-party signals are mixed. Reviewers praise alignment and support over months. A vocal minority on ProductReview report dips, sloping and returning aches within months to a couple of years. That looks like normal foam softening plus a firmness mismatch, not verified structural failure. Rotation is optional per the care guides, and covers are machine-washable.
Customer reviews and complaints
The brand's site claims 4.7 stars from 100,000-plus reviews across the range. ProductReview.com.au lists the Ecosa Mattress at 4.7 from 584 reviews (about 94% positive) and the Pure at 4.8 from 237 reviews, as of September 2026. Reviewers praise fast metro delivery, easy setup, adjustable firmness, eased back, hip and neck pain, excellent motion isolation and the washable cover.
Recurring complaints are comfort mismatch (too firm for some, too soft for others), sagging and dips with pain returning, sleep warmth and initial odour. Others mention the effort of unzipping and re-stacking layers, courier mis-delivery and banged-up boxes, and warranty friction over measuring the 20mm dip. The brand does not publish BBB, Google, Sleep Foundation or RTINGS ratings (checked September 2026).
Where can you try and buy?
In Australia you can buy direct at ecosa.com.au. The site has a store locator and physical stores, with Sydney locations confirmed. The US store at ecosa.com is active but lists no mattresses as of September 2026. It has sofa beds, pillows, bedding and accessories only, and the /ecosa-mattress page shows an error. So US buyers can't currently try or buy an Ecosa mattress.
The brand doesn't publish third-party mattress retailers, marketplaces or a phone-order mattress program. It doesn't publish sibling brands that share a factory.
Delivery, setup and removal
In metro Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, delivery is free and next-day on weekday orders placed before 11:59pm. You can pick a 10am to 2pm or 2pm to 6pm window, subject to stock and slots. Adelaide has Friday cut-off conditions for Monday delivery. Outside metro zones, times vary at checkout, some regional postcodes pay a AU$175 flat fee, and some remote postcodes can't be served.
Mattresses ship compressed in a wheeled box with a handle. Setup is DIY, and the bed fits slatted or solid bases, box springs, foundations or floors. The brand doesn't publish white-glove setup. Old-mattress removal isn't included. You can add an award-nominated collection and recycling service for AU$125, with holiday exclusions.
Sleep trial and returns
You get a 100-night trial on mattresses, pillows and sofa beds. If it's unsuitable, you get a full refund. Ecosa arranges pickup or pre-paid postage and sends the return to donation, not landfill. You must start the return within 100 nights of delivery. Exchanges are allowed, and you pay only the price difference. Faulty or misdescribed arrivals are covered separately with replacement, store credit or a full refund.
The 30-day return window applies to sleepwear, not mattresses. The brand doesn't publish restocking, pickup or donation-handling fees. An older US review cited a 14-night break-in requirement, but we couldn't confirm it on current Australian policy pages as of September 2026.
Warranty
Both models carry a 15-year limited warranty. It covers defects in workmanship and materials, visible indentation or sag greater than 20mm on a suitable foundation, and zipper-assembly or cover-fabric defects. The remedy is repair or replacement, and cover-only defects get a cover replacement.
It excludes burns, cuts, tears, liquid damage, stains, smells, bed-bug infestation, poor maintenance, unsuitable foundations and minor variations in feel. You need proof of purchase, and claims run through Ecosa support. The warranty is Australia-facing, and the full terms are at ecosa.com.au/warranty. US handling doesn't matter while no mattress is sold on the US store.
Ecosa vs. other brands
Against Koala, an Australian bed-in-a-box rival, Ecosa wins on adjustable firmness and washable covers. Koala wins on a wider Australian range and a longer local retail footprint. Against Sleeping Duck, Ecosa wins on price and simpler choice. Sleeping Duck wins on half-half firmness customisation per sleeper.
Against US brands such as Casper, Nectar and Purple, there's no contest in the US, since Ecosa lists no mattress there. On paper, its 15-year warranty beats the typical 10-year US term, while its 20mm sag threshold is stricter than most. Against eco-latex specialists, Ecosa Pure wins on price and trial length. The specialists win on certified-organic credentials (GOLS and GOTS), which Ecosa doesn't publish.
How we put this review together
We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
