American RV Mattress Review

American RV Mattress is a South Carolina RV-specialty division of Custom Mattress Factory. It claims 25 years of craft and 200,000-plus travelers served. It sells three USA handmade lines, from about $276 promo ($460 list) to about $595 promo ($1,159 list). You get a 60-night trial and a 10-year warranty. It's best if you're an RVer who needs odd sizes and fold or corner cuts. If you want standard-size value without promo prices, it's less of a fit.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

Side sleepers should look at American Dream Hybrid in Gentle/Soft for latex contour and pressure relief. All-position and combination sleepers can choose Dream in Balanced/Medium or Tahoe Hybrid in Medium, with pocket coils for motion control. Back and stomach sleepers can choose Dream in Supportive/Firm or Basecamp all-foam Firm.

If you sleep hot, look at the Dream latex hybrid, with open-cell ventilating latex plus coils. Tahoe has Breeze HR foam and a breathable cotton cover. Basecamp claims cool-touch WanderCool foam. For kids, guests, tight bunks and low-clearance frames, look at Basecamp 6-inch or bunk widths of 25 to 42 inches. Full-time RVers and couples should look at Dream 9-inch or Tahoe 11-inch hybrids for coil support and motion separation.

For odd shapes, slide-outs and cab-overs, add $25 Custom Corners or a $75 hinge fold to any base model. A specialist will confirm dimensions.

Mattress prices and value

These price bands were seen in September 2026 under an extended Labor Day 40-percent-off promo ending 9/16/26. Prices are list and promo. Basecamp starts at $460 list and $276 promo. Tahoe Hybrid starts at $1,059 list and $435 promo. American Dream Hybrid starts at $1,159 list and $595 promo. Custom Corners is a $25 add-on, and hinge fold is a $75 add-on. Sheets start at $125, protectors at $90 and fitted sheets at $79.

Value is competitive for made-to-order USA RV sizes with free 48-state shipping and custom cuts. But headline prices depend on promos. Final delivery fees are figured at checkout. Expedited custom ($100) and oversize ($300) surcharges apply, plus possible difficult-access fees.

What are the mattresses made of?

American Dream Hybrid has an organic fair-trade cotton cover, a botanical open-cell latex comfort layer and an individually pocketed high-tensile coil base. Tahoe Hybrid has a Cloud Cotton Luxury organic-cotton cover, Breeze HR high-response memory foam and EnduraCore pocketed coils. Basecamp has a Cloud Cotton cover, WanderCool comfort foam and a PostureAlign dense support core. All use CertiPUR-US foams and are single-sided.

You don't need a box spring. Use a rigid platform or slats 3 inches or less apart. The brand claims handmade in the USA (South Carolina), sustainable production and cool-touch, allergy-conscious builds. The brand doesn't publish foam densities, latex blend or GOTS, GOLS or GREENGUARD claims (checked September 2026).

How well do the mattresses hold up?

We found no independent durability testing (September 2026). The structure offers some signals. The Dream flagship has botanical latex over pocketed high-tensile coils. Tahoe has HR memory foam over pocketed EnduraCore coils. Basecamp has a dense PostureAlign support core. The foams are CertiPUR-US certified, and the design is single-sided, so there's no flipping. A rigid base is required. A 10-year warranty is advertised sitewide.

The brand doesn't publish sag-depth thresholds, indentation standards or warranty claim steps. The warranty page didn't load when we checked. For support, call 828-229-5990, use the contact page or try the sleep-expert chat.

Customer reviews and complaints

On the site, American Dream Hybrid has 64 buyer evaluations, and most are top-rated. Tahoe Hybrid has 31 reviews, about 90 percent 5-star. The Custom Corners add-on shows zero reviews. The brand doesn't publish a Basecamp review count (checked September 2026). Site review themes praise fit, comfort and custom sizing. We couldn't extract the full review text.

We couldn't find third-party scores from Google, BBB, Trustpilot or Amazon. Based on the published policies, watch for promo-dependent pricing and 7 to 10 day build lead times. Return limits on custom sizes are unclear. The firm Basecamp feel may surprise you if you want a soft mattress.

Where can you try and buy?

You can buy direct only, at americanrvmattress.com, with size, hinge and corner customizers. You can also call sales at 828-229-5990. The brand doesn't publish any retail stores or in-person tryout locations (checked September 2026). The South Carolina workshop is for production only. It doesn't publish authorized third-party retailers, so buy direct.

You'll find Facebook and Instagram accounts and a contact page with sleep-expert chat. The site also has login, cart and email signup.

Delivery, setup and removal

The brand advertises free shipping in 48 states. Made-to-order and typical beds ship boxed via FedEx Ground. Large models or base bundles go curbside via LTL freight. Tracking is emailed after dispatch. Prep takes about 7 to 10 days, with final fees figured at checkout. Expedited custom builds cost $100 ($300 oversize) and arrive within two weeks. Parcel drops happen on weekdays, with no holiday delivery. You can ask to pause your build. Difficult-access locations may add fees (call 800-979-1924).

Sleep trial and returns

You get a 60-Night Trial. Keep the mattress at least 30 nights. Start a return by day 60 from delivery by contacting the company. After approval, donate the mattress to a local nonprofit or charity and show proof of donation. You then get a 100 percent refund to your original payment method. The mattress must be clean and undamaged. It's limited to one use per household.

The trial excerpt states no added return shipping or restocking charges and no swap option. The brand doesn't publish trial eligibility for custom-size, hinge or corner orders (checked September 2026).

Warranty

The homepage badge advertises a 10 Year Warranty. The brand doesn't publish coverage details, sag-depth thresholds, exclusions (stains, misuse, foundations, comfort preference), transfer terms or claim steps. The official warranty page didn't load when we checked in September 2026. It also doesn't publish the remedy type (repair or replacement) or prorating.

File claims through the contact page or by phone at 828-229-5990. Keep your order proof and photos until you can verify the terms.
