How well do the mattresses hold up?

Why this matters to you: The useful clues are the foam standard and care steps. They help you compare materials and protect the bed you choose.

Serta says all its foam is CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® tests foam for emissions, content, and durability. This gives you a material check as you compare models.

Serta lists different support systems by model. The Perfect Sleeper Innerspring Mattress Cascade Ridge Plush 12.5" uses 860-density 4-in-1 coils and PillowSoft® Aire Foam. Perfect Sleeper Hybrid Mattress lists 920-density 4-in-1 coils and EverCool® Supreme Memory Foam. These are density figures, not a count of coils in a Queen. Compare the support systems, not the figures alone.

What to watch for, and when:

  • At setup, check the foundation. Serta says a foundation problem can affect comfort and how the bed wears.
  • Before spills, use a protector to guard the cover. Serta says mattress covers are not removable or washable.
  • For spots, use baking soda for about 15 minutes on the soiled area. Vacuum and repeat as needed. Serta warns liquids can stain or damage the mattress.

Who owns Serta: Owned and managed by Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB), formed in 2010 when Simmons and National Bedding Company joined under one company. SSB filed for Chapter 11 on January 23, 2023, and emerged on June 29, 2023. Serta Inc. was not part of that bankruptcy proceeding.

Where sources disagree

  • The Serta® iSeries® NXG™ Mattress - 4500 Ultra Plush Foam FAQ calls it all-foam. Its support section mentions a zoned coil system.
  • Serta Perfect Sleeper X Quilted Hybrid Mattress - Level Two details list Q4 coils and micro-coils. Its comparison also says all-foam comfort.

    • Before buying, compare the model's stated build. For care, rotate the mattress every 6 to 9 months for an even break-in, as Serta advises.

After return shipment or pickup is complete, Serta refunds your original payment method. Allow 5-10 business days for your financial institution to process it.

A direct Serta.com order can be exchanged during the 100-day In-Home Trial. Serta allows one return or exchange per household per 12 months. Call to exchange; any price difference is charged or returned. The new product's trial is voided, so there is no fresh trial.

Chapter 07

Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal

Why this matters to you: Plan around 2-4 weeks for most deliveries. Check the White Glove charge and old-bed removal before you order.

Most Serta deliveries arrive within 2-4 weeks of your order. Serta lists two estimates for the Five Star Mattress in a Box. They are 2-5 business days and 5-14 business days. Check the checkout estimate before you plan.

Traditional mattresses use White Glove delivery for setup in your room of choice. Mattress-in-a-box orders ship to your doorstep by FedEx Ground. White Glove is not available for the Five Star Mattress in a Box. Serta's Classic product page says White Glove and haul-away are included at no extra charge. Its shipping policy lists an extra fee.

Typical wait: 2-4 weeks

  1. Delivery type: Traditional mattresses use White Glove service. The Five Star Mattress in a Box ships by FedEx Ground to your doorstep.
  2. Schedule: The White Glove delivery team schedules a delivery time.
  3. Room setup: The team brings the bed to your room of choice, sets it up, and removes the packaging.
  4. Old bed: For traditional mattresses, request removal at checkout. The crew takes the mattress and box spring if both are sanitary. Confirm timing, setup, and removal for your address.

What do the warranties cover?

Why this matters to you: Serta can cover a qualifying sag, but the law-tag code and bed type set the rules. Check the base before buying; poor support can void coverage.

The law-tag code sets the warranty term. Code 6 starts with years 1-3 at no charge, then uses a time-based formula.

Code 6 has a 10-year total term. In years 4-10, its charge is 1/20 of dealer retail price times years since purchase. The charge rises with time. It applies to repair or replacement, and excludes transportation.

A body impression, or dip, must meet its mattress type's depth cutoff. Compare the dip's depth in inches with that rule. The 2026 card sets cutoffs of at least 1.5 inches for innerspring mattresses and 0.75 inch for smooth-top hybrid and all-foam mattresses.

The help summary uses different groups: smooth-top and quilted. It gives a 0.75 inch cutoff for smooth tops and 1.5 inches for quilted tops. Since the groups differ from the 2026 card, verify the cutoff for your mattress before relying on it.

  • Stains, soiling, or fluid penetration may invalidate coverage.
  • Keep the law tags and proof of purchase to validate a claim.
  • Normal-use softening is not covered.
  • Warranty length: 10 years, 5 years, 1 year, or 30 days by law-tag code
  • Coverage over time: Code 6: years 1-3 no charge; years 4-10, 1/20 of dealer retail price times years since purchase
  • Dip depth rule: At least 1.5 in for innerspring; at least 0.75 in for smooth-top hybrid/all-foam; at least 1.5 in for quilted tops per help summary
  • What voids it or is not covered: Stains, soiling, or fluid may invalidate coverage
