Chattam & Wells Mattress Review

Chattam & Wells is Spring Air International's American-made luxury mattress brand. You can only buy it through local dealers, because there's no online checkout. The lineup spans the Fleur De Lis, Premiere and Princess collections, with Queen starting prices from $2,499.99 to $7,999.99. It carries a 10-year non-prorated warranty. It's best if you want to test a luxury bed in a store. The caveats are that there's no brand-wide trial and the published specs are thin.

Checked September 2026 against the brand's own pages and public listings. We haven't sleep-tested these mattresses, so treat this as a buyer's summary of what the brand publishes.

Which mattress suits your sleep needs?

The brand gives guidance by comfort name only. If you sleep on your back or stomach and want support, look at the Evelyn Firm or Palermo Firm. Side sleepers who want pressure relief should look at the Evelyn Plush or Palermo Pillow-Top. Combination sleepers can try the Evelyn Medium or Palermo Medium.

If you want the highest coil count on paper, that's the Roma at 908 coils in a Queen. If you want the flagship price tier, that's the St Pierre. The brand doesn't publish independent firmness, pressure-relief, cooling, motion-isolation or edge-support testing (checked September 2026).

Mattress prices and value

These are Queen Retail Starting prices on chattamandwells.com as of September 2026. The Evelyn Firm is $2,499.99. The Evelyn Medium and Evelyn Plush are $2,899.99. The Palermo Firm, Palermo Medium and Palermo Pillow-Top are $5,999.99 each. The Roma is $6,999.99 and the St Pierre is $7,999.99. The Buckingham page shows $7,899.99. The brand doesn't publish prices for the Ashford, Windsor, Kensington, Chantilly, Miramare, Lismore or Princess models.

The entry tier sits near Stearns and Foster and Beautyrest Black flagship pricing. It steps to true ultra-luxury above $6,000. Value is hard to judge. Dealers set street prices, layer details are thin and there's no brand-wide trial.

What are the mattresses made of?

These details come from the official Evelyn Medium page and model pages in September 2026. The beds use wrapped-coil support with a reinforced perimeter. Evelyn models have Serene Foam and gel-infused memory foam comfort layers. Palermo, St Pierre and Roma pages list Serene Foam. The Evelyn cover is Luxury Damask Fabric with wool and silk fibers. You also get hand-set tufts, a brand emblem and stitched handles. An adjustable-base-compatible badge appears.

Coil counts in a Queen are 768 for the Evelyn Medium, Firm and Plush. They're 394 for the Palermo Firm and Medium, and 294 for the Palermo Pillow-Top. The St Pierre has 294 and the Roma has 908. The brand doesn't publish layer thicknesses or full top-to-bottom builds.

CertiPUR and OEKO badges appear as site images, plus a Latex Quality and Safety badge on the Evelyn page. The brand doesn't publish certificate numbers or verification details. It doesn't publish GOTS, GOLS, GREENGUARD or USDA organic certification.

How well do the mattresses hold up?

The brand reports a 10-year non-prorated warranty with a 1.5 in body-impression threshold on continuously proper support. The care page says to rotate the mattress head to toe every 60 days and use a protector. It also says to allow about 90 days for materials to reach their long-term firmness level.

The brand doesn't publish independent durability, sag or longevity testing (checked September 2026). Treat lifespan claims as the brand's own.

Customer reviews and complaints

The brand's site shows no review module, ratings, counts or testimonials on the homepage, collection, model, warranty or care pages (checked September 2026). We couldn't find a GoodBed, SleepAdvisor or Mattress Clarity review page for the brand. A Mattress Firm search wasn't available either.

We found no verified aggregate scores, review counts or recurring complaint themes. Dealer-exclusive luxury distribution splits reviews by retailer and model name. Confirm comfort and service terms with the selling dealer.

Where can you try and buy?

You buy from dealers only. There's no checkout on chattamandwells.com. Use the official Find a Retailer page with its StoreRocket locator. You can also contact the brand at 300 Trade Center Drive Suite 6400, Woburn, MA 01801, or call 617-884-2300, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm EST. An Exclusively for Mattress Firm collection page exists but lists no models or prices.

Site footers state that Chattam and Wells marks are registered trademarks of Spring Air International. Always confirm the exact model name, delivered price, trial or exchange terms and warranty schedule with the dealer before you buy.

Delivery, setup and removal

The selling dealer arranges delivery, not Chattam and Wells centrally. The brand doesn't publish a shipping method, cost, speed, white-glove setup, old-mattress removal or foundation and frame specs. Model pages show adjustable-base compatibility as a badge only.

Confirm delivery timing, setup fees and haul-away terms with the retailer in writing before you buy. Also confirm the support you need. That's slats spaced no greater than 1.5 in with rigid center support and floor-touching legs on queen and king.

Sleep trial and returns

Chattam and Wells doesn't publish a brand-wide sleep trial, return, exchange, restocking-fee or refund policy on its site (checked September 2026). No trial language appears on the warranty or mattress-care pages. The selling dealer sets all comfort-trial, comfort-exchange, return-window, fee and refund terms. Get them in writing before you buy.

The care page notes about 90 days for materials to settle. That's a break-in note, not a trial offer.

Warranty

The warranty is a 10-year non-prorated manufacturer limited warranty on the mattress and foundation. Cover fabrics and corner guards are excluded. It's for the original retail purchaser only, and you need your sales receipt. Keep the sewn-in law label. It covers body impressions over 1.5 in, only on continuously proper support. It also covers loose, broken or protruding coils or wires, detached handles and dislodged tuft straps. A splitting wood frame or defective, loose or bent beams count too.

It excludes soiling, stains, bodily fluids and burns treated as unsanitary. It excludes impressions of 1.5 in or less, comfort preference, bed height, as-is and floor models, and buyer-paid transport for service. Ticking wear, non-factory failures, wrong or mismatched foundations and commercial use unless built for it are out too. So are missing tuft rosettes or washers, sheer fit and a size variance of 1.5 in or under. Queen and king sets without proper floor-touching center support, plus misuse or neglect, are excluded as well.

Any lawsuit must begin within 12 months of the issue. The exact fee schedule depends on the product schedule on the law label.

Chattam & Wells vs. other brands

Aireloom wins on handmade-heritage storytelling and natural-fill depth. Chattam and Wells wins on clearer Queen starting prices on its own site. Stearns and Foster wins on national availability and review depth. Chattam and Wells competes on boutique luxury styling at similar entry-luxury prices.

Beautyrest Black wins on published specs and a wider dealer network. Chattam and Wells wins if you want a smaller Spring Air luxury marque. Tempur-Pedic wins on published technology, trial and review transparency. Chattam and Wells wins if you prefer a traditional tufted innerspring feel over all-foam.

How we put this review together

We read the brand's own product, policy and warranty pages, then checked retailer listings and public complaint sites like the Better Business Bureau. We last checked everything here in September 2026. Prices and policies change, so confirm them on the seller's page before you buy. You can read more in our methodology and editorial policy.
