MurMaid is worth a store visit, but not a blind online buy. The maker runs its own stores around Chattanooga and posts a Queen price for all 12 models on this page, from $499 to $2,499 among the models priced here. The lead model, the iCool Medium Hybrid, is a hybrid with 736 pocketed coils and costs $2,199 in a Queen.
What works for you: the maker offers a money-back trial that runs to the 100th night, with conditions, and its exchange window runs a full year.
What to watch: this page has no outside test scores, and two pages on the maker's own site disagree on returns. Get the trial and return terms in writing before you pay.

Key Strengths
Prices are posted. Every model on this page shows a Queen price, so you can compare before you visit.
A trial is offered. The maker's help page describes a money-back guarantee that runs to the 100th night, and it requires a mattress protector.
Exchanges run a full year. From the 30th day to the 365th day after delivery, you can swap for a bed of equal or greater value.
Stores you can visit. The maker publishes eight store addresses in Tennessee and Georgia, so you can lie on a bed first.
Good to Know
The trial has conditions. No fees apply only when you pay the showroom tagged price and use a mattress protector. A discounted sale loses those terms.
Two policy pages disagree. A separate refund page describes a much shorter return window and no returns on sale items. Ask the store which page applies.
Warranty length varies by model. The product pages we read give 20 years for two models and 10 years for two others, and the help page gives no years.
No outside test scores. This page has none for MurMaid, so the maker's own words carry most of the facts.
Three things decide this page: whether you can lie on the bed first, which comfort word you want, and what the trial terms say. The maker publishes prices and trial terms, but this page has no outside test scores for it.
Outside review scores
Review sites checked: none found that tested a MurMaid bed. Their scores: none found. Model they tested: none found. Each site tests in its own way, so read each row on its own.
Try it in a store first. MurMaid posts its prices and its trial terms, but this page has no outside test scores for it. Lie on the model you want, then get the trial and return terms in writing.

The reviews section keeps BBB, GoodBed and Trustpilot apart and never blends them.
When MurMaid makes sense
You want to lie on the bed first: the maker runs stores in five towns in Tennessee and Georgia, and a store beats any spec sheet.
You want a posted price: each of the 12 models lists a Queen price, from $499 to $2,499.
You want three comfort choices in one line: the iCool hybrids come in Soft, Medium and Firm.
You want a coil count you can check: the iCool models list 736 individually pocketed coils.
When Another Mattress May Suit You Better
You want outside test scores: this page shows none for MurMaid.
You want a delivery date: the maker does not publish delivery times.
You want one simple return rule: the maker's help page and refund page do not match, so ask the store.

Reading the scores
Why we don't average the scores
Each review site scores in its own way, so we keep each source apart and never blend them. This page shows no outside test scores for MurMaid. The only signals we found are a BBB grade, a GoodBed retailer line and an unclaimed Trustpilot page, and the reviews section explains each one.
Use the dates and sources shown with each result. Prices, models and policies can change.
Chapter 02
Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you
Why this matters to you: Comfort words such as Plush and Firm are the maker's own, and they can feel different from one model to the next. Your own body on the bed is the best test, in the position you sleep in most.
This page has no sourced pick by sleep position or body weight for MurMaid, so the finder shows none. Use the comfort words below to build a short list, then lie on two beds in a store.
The maker's words sort like this. Soft: the iCool Soft Hybrid, and The Reprise, which it calls a soft pillow top. Medium: the iCool Medium Hybrid and The Kinley, plus Ocoee Plush as medium plush. Firm: the iCool Firm Hybrid and the Maeve Latex Firm Tight Top. Plush: the L&K 200 Pillow Top. Chickamauga Plush, the Lindsey Line Storm Plush Hybrid and Signal Plush carry Plush in the name only, and The Riverview has no comfort word at all.
Build shapes the feel too. The maker says each pocketed coil responds on its own to body movement, and Signal Plush uses a Bonnell innerspring, a coil system where the coils are linked together. Take two beds with different words to the store, and pick the one that keeps your back level in your usual position.
The word does not track the price: the Soft iCool costs $2,499, while The Reprise, also soft, costs $599.

Use the maker's comfort words to narrow your list
No sourced pick yet
This finder has no sourced pick for MurMaid yet, so it shows none. Use the comfort words in the compare table, then lie on two beds in a store.
Neck: on your side, your nose should line up with the middle of your chest, not tip up or down.
Shoulders: your bottom shoulder should sink in. Tingling or a numb arm means the bed is too firm for you.
Lower back: on your back, slide a flat hand under your waist. A big gap means too firm; no room at all can mean too soft.
Hips: ask someone to look from the side. Hips lower than shoulders means the bed is too soft for you.
Figure 2.1: Four checks to run in a store, lying still in the position you sleep in most. The store test in chapter 11 says how long to lie on each bed.
Chapter 03
Compare the mattresses
Why this matters to you: Twelve models come as coil hybrids, innersprings, and beds built on foam or latex. Pick the build and the comfort word first, then compare prices.
The table lines up all 12 models by what the maker publishes: build, comfort word, coil count and Queen price. The three iCool hybrids share one 736-coil build and differ in how soft or firm they feel.
The iCool line comes in Soft, Medium and Firm. The Lindsey Line Storm Plush Hybrid and the L&K 200 Pillow Top each list 896 pocketed coils. Chickamauga Plush and Ocoee Plush list 682, and Signal Plush lists 390 in a Bonnell system, where the coils are linked together. The Kinley is a memory foam bed, and the Maeve uses a latex core. For many buyers the choice is the build first and the comfort word second. The prices section shows what each step costs.

Comfort words are the maker's labels, not a numbered score. For Chickamauga Plush, the Lindsey Line Storm Plush Hybrid and Signal Plush, the maker uses Plush in the model name only, so that word comes from the name. The maker does not publish wire gauge or foam firmness ratings.

Mattress prices and value
Why this matters to you: Prices span a wide range, from $499 to $2,499 for a Queen. Decide on the build you want first, because the lowest and the top Queen prices belong to different builds.
Among the models priced here, a Queen runs from $499 to $2,499. A product page may show a smaller size's price first, so check that the size on screen is the one you want.
Signal Plush is the lowest Queen at $499. The iCool Soft Hybrid and the Maeve Latex Firm Tight Top tie at the top, at $2,499. The iCool Medium Hybrid, the lead model, costs $2,199.
The size grid shows that lead model in each size, from Twin at $1,749 to King at $2,699. Cal King costs the same as King, and the grid lists no Split King. The maker shows no list price above these, so this page cannot say whether any price is a sale price.
The trial terms treat a showroom tagged price and a discounted price differently, so ask which one you are paying. Check the price again before you buy, because store tags can differ from the web.

Chapter 05
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Why this matters to you: A mattress is a long buy. The warranty terms and your own store test are the best guides here, because this page has no lifespan number and no outside wear test.
This page has no lifespan estimate in years, from the maker or from a test site. The warranty and the sag rule are the best guides we can show.
The milestones below cover the trial, the exchange window and the warranty, and the table separates what we verified from what we could not confirm.
For the iCool line, the maker lists 2.3 lb. density foams or greater, but it gives no coil gauge and no wear test. You cannot rank these beds by durability from paper, so press on the edges and the middle in the store. The warranty section explains what counts as a sag.
What to watch for, and when:
Through the trial: use the time up to the 100th night to judge comfort, and keep the protector on.
From the 30th day to the 365th day after delivery: you can swap for a bed of equal or greater value, so judge the bed before month one ends if you want to keep that option.
Any time under warranty: keep the bed on a matching base, and measure a dip before you file a claim.
Ownership, deals, lawsuits & launches
Company History & Model Evolution
The company behind the beds, from its start in 1979 to a 2015 BBB award, in the maker's own words. These are company milestones, not durability results.
The maker says it received this BBB award for market place ethics. It is an award for business ethics, not a test of any bed.
Market Place Ethics
Each milestone comes from the brand's own pages, government and court records, or named news reports, each with the date we checked it. Factory suppliers may update minor parts over time.
What we could confirm, and what the brand doesn't say
The left column is what we confirmed, with a source. The right column is what the brand doesn't publish. Use the right column as your list of questions for a store or the brand's chat.
Scroll sideways to see the whole table
What we confirmed
What the brand doesn't publish
VERIFIEDFounded in 1979 The maker's Our Story page says Elmer and Joy Murray started MurMaid at a Chattanooga store address. Age shows staying power, not that a bed will hold up.
NOT PUBLISHEDLineup replacement history The maker's pages show no record of which models it replaced or retired, so this page states no replacement history.
VERIFIED2015 BBB Torch Award for marketplace ethics The maker says it received this award from the Better Business Bureau. It speaks to business ethics, not to how long a bed lasts.
NOT PUBLISHEDOwnership changes since 1979 We found no ownership change on the maker's pages, but we cannot say none happened. Ask the store if company history matters to you.
VERIFIED11 locations in Chattanooga area Our Story and BBB both say 11 locations, but only 8 addresses are published. The promotions page says 10, so the total is unclear.
NOT PUBLISHEDLong-term owner durability report We found no report from owners of these beds after years of use. The reviews section has only a grade and a retailer line, and neither speaks to durability.
VERIFIEDSag claims need matching foundation support The help page says a sag claim counts only if the bed was continuously supported by a matching foundation. Use the right base from the first night.
NOT PUBLISHEDDated model launch and retirement years The maker gives no launch or retirement years for its models. The lineup section lists names and details only, with no years.
Where sources disagree
Trial terms differ by page: the help page gives a guarantee to the 100th night, while a separate refund page describes a much shorter return window and no returns on sale items.
The store count differs by page: Our Story and BBB say 11 locations, the promotions page says 10, and only 8 addresses are published.
Warranty years sit on product pages, not the help page: the help page lists covered items but gives no years, so the years differ by model.
Chapter 06
Sleep trials, returns, exchanges and fees
Why this matters to you: Return rules decide what a home trial really costs. Here the fee and the trial both depend on the price you pay, and two pages on the maker's site disagree.
The maker's help page gives a money-back guarantee that runs to the 100th night, but only on beds bought at the showroom tagged price with a mattress protector. A discounted sale loses the no-fee terms. A separate refund page conflicts, so get the terms in writing.
Here is what the help page says. The guarantee carries no fees or pickup charges when you pay the showroom tagged price and use a mattress protector. The refund-policy page on the same site describes a much shorter return window and no returns on sale items. The two pages do not match, so ask the store which one applies to your bed.

Not covered by the trial: the help page lists none, but the refund page says no returns on sale items or gift cards
Figure 6.1: The trial in three dates and three prices. Put the last date in your calendar the day the bed arrives.
The fee depends on the price you paid. At the showroom tagged price, with a protector, the help page says no fees apply. If a Queen iCool Medium at $2,199 was sold at a discounted price, you can still get a refund, minus a $250 restocking fee.
Exchanges run longer than the trial. From the 30th day to the 365th day after original delivery, a bed may be exchanged, with a protector, only for a bed of equal or greater value. You pay the difference in price, plus a delivery charge if one applies. The help page states no other exchange fee.
Check the terms for your seller and order date before buying from MurMaid.
Chapter 07
Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal
Why this matters to you: The maker publishes no delivery times. At $2,199 for a Queen iCool Medium, get the delivery date, setup and old-bed removal in writing before you pay.
The maker does not publish delivery times or shipping terms, so ask before you pay. The only delivery detail we found is a delivery charge that may apply when you exchange a bed.
The maker's shipping page has no delivery text, so we cannot say how a bed ships. Ask the store who delivers. Ask if a crew sets up the bed and takes the old one away.
Typical wait: Not published
Order: get the price in writing, and note whether it is the tagged price or a discounted one.
Wait: ask for a delivery date, since the maker publishes none.
Setup: ask whether the crew sets up the bed and takes away the packing.
Old bed: ask whether removal is offered and what it costs.
Protector: put one on from the first night, because the money-back trial and the exchange both require it.
Dates: write down the delivery day. The 30th day and the 365th day count from it.
Base: match the base to the maker's rules in the warranty section.

Confirm the delivery date, setup and removal terms for your address before ordering.

What do the warranties cover?
Why this matters to you:The years on the label are not the same for every model. Check the years for your exact model, and ask what the warranty leaves out.
Warranty length varies by model. The maker's product pages give 20 years for the iCool Medium Hybrid ($2,199) and the Chickamauga Plush ($1,399), 10 years limited for The Reprise ($599), and 10 years non-prorated for the Maeve ($2,499). The help page lists covered items but no years.
The help page does not say whether coverage is full or prorated, and it gives no years. Terms such as limited and non-prorated appear on only two product pages. Ask the store for the written warranty for your exact model.
The sag rule is not set per model. The help page lists one dip depth as covered, shown in the warranty card. It counts only if the bed was supported by a matching foundation the whole time. For a slat base, the maker's rule is a minimum of five cross slats. Our tip, not the maker's method: lay a straight board across the dip and measure the gap with a ruler.
The help page does not say whether the warranty is prorated, meaning your share of the cost grows with age. It does say damage from an inappropriate foundation is not covered. Ask the store three things: what dip counts as a sag, how a claim works, and whether your base could void it.
Covered when the dip is deeper than 1.5 inches, measured with nobody on the bed.
Strip the bed down to the mattress and wait a few hours so the top layers can recover.
Lay a straight edge (a broom handle or long level) across the dip, resting on the flat parts.
Measure from the edge down to the deepest point, then photograph the ruler for your claim.

Review counts checked on each site · they change daily
Customer reviews and complaints
Why this matters to you: Ratings depend on who posts and where. The only grade here is a business grade from BBB, and it is not a customer rating, so no single line should steer you.
This page has no star score for MurMaid beds. The three sources we found are a BBB grade, a GoodBed retailer line and an unclaimed Trustpilot page. The table below lists each one apart.
How we read the reviews
We looked at three sources: BBB, GoodBed and Trustpilot. We never add them together, since each counts a different group.
GoodBed's retailer page says "Based on 4 ratings + review". That is a store-level page, pooled across MurMaid stores, and it describes a retailer, not the maker's beds.
The maker has not claimed its Trustpilot profile, and we saw no reviews there. Read that as no data, not a bad score.
The BBB entry is a grade for the business, not a customer rating. BBB shows A+ and 0 customer reviews, and BBB decides how its grade is built. Its page lists the business as accredited since 1999 and shows one complaint closed in the last three years. The maker's Our Story page also cites a 2015 BBB award for ethics, which is not a customer rating, and it says the company began in 1979.
Read each platform on its own: who runs it, its rating scale, how many reviews it has, and the date we checked it.
Reported praise and concerns:
We did not sort reviews by cause, so this page ranks no praise or complaints. Read the GoodBed page yourself before you decide.
Match any review to its store and its model, since a comment about one bed may not apply to another.

Chapter 10
What are the mattresses made of?
Why this matters to you: The maker names its foams and coils with brand labels and gives few numbers. Knowing what it names and what it leaves out tells you what to ask before you pay and what to read on your law tag.
The maker names its layers but publishes no coil gauge or firmness rating for foam. The table below lists each model's build in the maker's own words.
The iCool models pair pocketed coils with a firmer center third, gel memory foam and copper-infused foam, under a temperature regulating cover. The maker says the copper helps wick moisture and adds antimicrobial properties, which is a maker claim we did not test. The maker does not publish a fiberglass statement for any model here, so this page makes no claim either way. Beds like the Signal Plush innerspring list a linked coil system instead. Ask whether a foam is polyurethane or another type. The law tag on your bed lists its fillings.

Safety labels, and what each one covers
The maker's pages we read name no outside certification for its foams or coils, so this page lists none.
Certifications
Not yet researched
We have not yet verified MurMaid's certification claims with the certifiers themselves.
What these labels do and don't prove
A seal covers only what it names. If a store cites one, ask which part of the bed it covers, since a foam seal says nothing about coils, glues or cover fabric.
Read your law tag
How to read the law tag in three steps
Why this matters to you: The sewn law tag is where the maker lists the fillings by weight. Sales pages change, so trust the tag on your own bed.
Law tag guide
How to read a mattress law tag
This page has no MurMaid law tag to show, since the maker's pages print none. The steps below name features from the iCool Medium Hybrid page.
The three steps
1
736 Individually Pocketed Coils with Posturized Center
The maker lists a firmer center third, which it says adds lumbar support. Ask where the firmer coils sit, and press there in the store.
2
Foam Encased Edge Support
The maker lists this as a feature but gives no edge height or foam type. Sit on the edge in a store, since you will do it every day.
3
Copper-Infused Gel Memory Foam
The maker says copper helps wick moisture and adds antimicrobial properties. That is a maker claim, not a test result, so check the law tag for the foam fillings.
Full law tag guide, factory code decoding, and the certificate glossary live on our shared safety page.
How to read this: the law tag, the brand's own statements, and certificates each cover different things. A spec the brand doesn't publish isn't proof it's missing; it just isn't shared.
Chapter 11
Where can you try and buy the mattresses?
Why this matters to you:Lying on a bed beats any spec, and here the store is also where you learn which price and which return terms apply to you.
MurMaid runs its own stores in and around Chattanooga, and it is a multi-brand dealer, so a store also sells other brands. Call ahead before you drive, because stores may not have every model on the floor. The company says it began in 1979, so it has sold beds in Chattanooga a long time.
Before you go, ask the store three things: which models are on the floor, the trial and return terms in writing, and whether your price is the tagged price or a discounted one. The Locations page lists (423) 899-6841.

Inventory & Delivery
Not published
No delivery area or wait time given
The stores list shows 8 addresses: four in Chattanooga, and one each in Hixson, Red Bank, Cleveland and Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. The maker's pages disagree on the total: Our Story and BBB say 11, the promotions page says 10, and a news post once mentioned a twelfth store, so the true total is unclear. The maker also calls itself a factory direct manufacturer and retailer that sells its own brand and national brands.
How to test a bed in the store
Spend ten to fifteen minutes on each bed, lying the way you sleep.
Bring your own pillow so the test matches home.
Try two comfort words back to back, such as the Medium iCool at $2,199 and the Firm iCool at $1,899.
Ask whether you must buy a mattress protector, since the trial terms require one.
Write down the price and whether it is the tagged price, before you leave.

MurMaid vs. other mattress brands
Why this matters to you: A fair comparison needs the same facts for each brand. Put a MurMaid quote next to a same-size quote from any other brand you are considering.
This page names no proven rival for MurMaid, because we hold no verified price, score or trial for the beds on the cards. Use the checklist below to compare on your own.
Compare the same five facts for every brand. They are the Queen price, the trial length in nights, the return fee, the warranty years and what the warranty leaves out. For the iCool Medium Hybrid, MurMaid lists $2,199. It has a trial that runs to the 100th night, with conditions, a restocking fee on discounted sales and a 20-year warranty. A rival that puts its trial, fee and warranty in writing is easier to judge. Compare like builds too. Pair a coil hybrid with a coil hybrid, and a memory foam bed with a memory foam bed.

Chapter 13
How we research and report
What we read for this page and what stays unknown. Each fact names its source.
Why this review exists: MurMaid, open since 1979, lists 12 core models (31 listed) in its collection, and its trial and return terms sit on pages that disagree. We read the maker's pages and dated profiles, and we date each check.
We did not test, take apart or measure any bed. When a page gives no answer, we say so once and stop.
How we check this page
What we read: murmaid.com product pages, the help page, the refund page, Our Story, Meet the Team, the promotions and news pages, plus the BBB, GoodBed and Trustpilot pages.
Dates: prices are dated Sep 29, 2026.
How we word it: the maker's claims are marked as the maker's. Outside sources are named, and we never blend their scores.
The maker's pages print no law tag details, so we have no tag to show. The tag on your bed names the maker, so check it against your receipt.
Stage 02Test results
Outside test results
This page shows no outside test scores for MurMaid, so this stage stays empty rather than guessed.
Stage 03Safety
Fire safety papers and the law tag
We cite the maker's build words, such as memory foam and innerspring, as the maker's. We did not review fire test filings for this page, so we cite none.
Stage 04Pressure and motion
Outside pressure and motion tests
This page has no pressure or motion scores for MurMaid, so no comfort claim here rests on a test.
Stage 05Reviews
Review scores, side by side
The reviews section explains how we read each source on its own.
Quick Answers
Quick Answers Before You Buy
Short answers to questions the sections above do not cover, drawn from the maker's own pages.
Prices, sales and store counts can change, so check again before you buy.
Safety and materials
What is inside the iCool Medium Hybrid?
A layer of coils under gel and copper foams. The maker lists 736 Individually Pocketed Coils and, for cooling, Cooling Fabric, Gel Memory Foam, Copper-Infused Foam. Its foam spec: 2.3 lb. density foams or greater. On copper, it says: Copper helps wick moisture and gives antimicrobial properties, per the brand. These are maker claims, not test results.
Does MurMaid say what is in the fire barrier, or if it uses fiberglass?
The brand does not publish this. Its model pages, help page and terms of service give no fire barrier or fiberglass details, and no law tag details either. That does not mean the answer is yes or no. Ask the store to show you the law tag on your exact bed before you pay.
Buying and policies
Can I return a MurMaid mattress?
Yes, but the trial has conditions. The help page gives a money-back guarantee that runs to the 100th night for a bed bought at the showroom tagged price, with a mattress protector. On a discounted sale, it says: $250 restocking fee if sold at a discounted price. A separate refund page on the site disagrees, so get the terms in writing.
Can I swap the mattress for another one?
Yes, within limits. The help page says a bed may be exchanged from the 30th day to the 365th day after delivery. You pay the price difference plus delivery charge, and the page says exchange only for equal or greater value. Exchanges also need a mattress protector.
How long is the MurMaid warranty?
It depends on the model. The product pages give 20 years for the iCool Medium Hybrid and the Chickamauga Plush, and 10 years for The Reprise and the Maeve. The help page lists what is covered but gives no years. Get the written terms for your exact model before you buy.
How much does the iCool Medium Hybrid cost?
It depends on the size. The maker lists $1,749 for a Twin, $2,199 for a Queen and $2,699 for a King. A product page may show a smaller size first, so confirm the size and price in the store or cart before you pay.
Where can I try a MurMaid mattress?
At a MurMaid showroom near Chattanooga. The Our Story page lists 11 locations in Chattanooga, Hixson, Red Bank, Cleveland and Ft. Oglethorpe, while the promotions page says 10 locations. Not every location has a published address, so check the address before you go. Call ahead, because a store may not have every model on the floor.
