The 30-second verdict
Yes for most buyers seeking a hybrid, but cooling is the catch. Sleepopolis measured the Sapira Chill warming from 68.1 degrees to 73.1 degrees; consider that result before buying. Saatva Classic may fit better if you prefer an innerspring. Saatva Classic's Queen price is $2,229; the Sapira Chill's Queen list price is $2,399. Sleep Foundation gives Saatva a 9.5 overall test lab score. Buy it only if the Sapira Chill's cooling result is acceptable to you and you want a hybrid.

Pros
Firmness options. Leesa offers Plush, Medium-Firm, and Firm versions, giving you a choice of feel.
Pressure relief. Sleep Foundation testers said it kept pressure from building in the lower back and other sensitive areas.
Low motion transfer. NapLab measured motion transfer at 7.31 m/s² and rated it very low.
Cons
Stomach support. Sleep Foundation found no firmness option sturdy enough for stomach sleepers over 230 pounds.
Back-sleep pressure. A Mattress Clarity tester reported lower-back pressure while lying on her back, which could concern sleepers with back pain.
Rotation routine. Leesa recommends rotating the mattress 180 degrees about every 4 to 6 months, not flipping it.
How firm is the Sapira Chill, and which firmness should you pick?
For a balanced starting point, pick Medium-Firm; Leesa lists Plush, Medium-Firm, and Firm. Leesa describes Plush as body-hugging, Medium-Firm as balancing comfort and support, and Firm as keeping you floating on top rather than sinking in. Sleep Foundation rates Medium (5), Medium Firm (6), and Firm (7), and says most sleepers should find an option for their body type or sleep position.
Mattress Clarity rates Medium-Firm 6/10 on its firmness scale and calls it slightly softer than average. Sleepopolis rates Medium-Firm 6 out of 10 on its firmness scale. GoodBed rates it Medium-Firm (4) on its scale, where 1 is firmest and 9 is softest. The readings use different scales, so compare each only within its own scale. For a middle feel, Medium-Firm is the clearest choice across these readings.

Is the Sapira Chill right for your sleep position and body weight?
For sleepers over 230 pounds, the Leesa Sapira Chill is best supported for side sleeping, while Sleep Foundation's findings flag trade-offs for back and stomach positions.
Side: Sleep Foundation rated it 9/10; sleepers in this group were most comfortable, so this is the clearest fit.
Back: Sleep Foundation rated it 6.5/10; sleepers in this group preferred more support, so consider another bed if you need stronger back support.
Stomach: Sleep Foundation rated it 6/10; none of the three firmness options felt sturdy enough, making it a less suitable choice for stomach sleeping.
Leesa says it supports 600 pounds combined, with 300 pounds on each side, so couples should check each person's weight against that side's limit. Sleep Foundation rated edge support 7.0/10, a point to weigh if you sit or sleep near the perimeter.

Neck: lying on your side, ask if your pillow and the bed keep your head in line with your spine.
Shoulders: ask if the shoulder under you settles in, or if you feel a pinch after a few minutes.
Back: lying face up, slide a hand under your waist. A big gap or no room at all is a sign of a poor match.
Hips: ask if your hips dip lower than your shoulders, like lying in a shallow bowl.
Four checks: lie still for a few minutes in the position you sleep in most, then notice how each spot feels. These are comfort checks, not a medical test.Sources (3)
The Leesa Sapira Chill has mixed outside feedback for back pain, so it is not a sure choice for relief. Leesa says its zoned coils support the hips while giving the shoulders softer comfort. Sleep Foundation's testers said the mattress kept pressure from building in the lower back and other sensitive areas. Mattress Clarity's in-house tester felt lower-back pressure while lying on her back, which could concern sleepers with back pain. Sleepopolis says side sleepers with back pain get contouring and support. These differing experiences mean the mattress may not suit every back-pain sleeper.
What the brand says
Leesa says its zoned coil system concentrates support under the hips and allows softer comfort at the shoulders.

Outside readings show warming, not a clear neutral result, so hot sleepers should not rely on the cooling features alone. Leesa says the Ultra Cool Cover uses cooling and phase-change fibers to pull heat away. Open-cell GreenFlex Foam lets heat escape, and zoned springs create airflow channels. Sleepopolis recorded 68.1 degrees to 73.1 degrees. NapLab measured a maximum surface temperature of 89.9° F. Mattress Clarity recorded 77.5 after resting on the bed.

Ultra Cool Cover cooling fibers, phase-change cover fibers, open-cell GreenFlex Foam, and zoned springs that create airflow channels.
You may feel less of a restless partner’s movement, but the readings do not promise none. NapLab measured motion transfer at 7.31 m/s² in total acceleration range and rated it very low. It measured bounce at 7.76 inches and rated it low. For a light sleeper, that points to less movement traveling across the bed and a less springy response. Treat that as a reason to expect reduced disturbance, not as proof you will stay asleep through every movement.

The cover uses a polyester, polyethylene, and Spandex blend, and the certifications apply to specific parts of the bed. Leesa lists 73% Polyester, 25% Polyethylene, and 2% Spandex in the cover. CertiPUR-US® covers all foams in the mattress, which Leesa says meet its rigorous standards for emissions. GREENGUARD Gold covers the finished mattress; Leesa says every Leesa mattress undergoes rigorous testing for emissions of more than 360 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) before certification.
No, Leesa says the Sapira Chill contains no fiberglass. Leesa describes its fire barrier as fire-retardant yarn made from a chemical-free rayon barrier. Check the law tag on your mattress for its listed materials, including the material named for the fire barrier, to confirm the wording on your specific bed.
Leesa says the Sapira Chill works on a firm, solid-surface base, a slatted frame, a box spring on a proper frame, or an adjustable base. Each setup must support the combined weight of the mattress and users. The adjustable base must keep the mattress continuously supported. Keep adult slats no more than 5.5 inches apart; wider spacing is improper and voids the Limited Lifetime Warranty. Direct use on a coil box spring also voids it.

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?
Sleep Foundation says the Sapira Chill should provide at least eight years of comfort; Leesa says not to flip it. NapLab’s Derek Hales expects good durability over time. Leesa recommends giving the mattress at least 30 nights to break in, so wait before deciding whether its comfort suits you. Instead, rotate it 180 degrees about every 4 to 6 months.

Leesa says the Sapira Chill has a 120-night trial, giving you that amount of time to decide whether to keep it. A return fee is $100, so budget for that cost if you may send it back. If paying that fee would strain your budget, weigh that risk before ordering.

Leesa says its Limited Lifetime Warranty covers physical defects in the foam, springs, and cover. Leesa says it will repair or replace a defective mattress at no cost for the first 10 years. The covered indentation must be deeper than 1.5 inches. In later years, you pay 50 percent of the retail price at the time. Slats more than 5.5 inches apart or direct use on a coil box spring voids coverage.
Owner feedback is mixed: comfort and cooler sleep earn praise, but a Plush owner reports too much sink. Leesa.com lists 274 reviews. A Leesa.com owner said she usually woke hot, then slept comfortably almost all night on her first night on the Sapira Chill. Reviewed's 2024 snapshot found positive comfort comments across sleep positions, though two of three cooling mentions said the bed was too warm. Treat cooling as uncertain, not a sure reason to buy.
On Reddit, a recent Plush owner said the mattress felt mushy and sank enough to cause hip pain. If you are considering Plush, check whether that sinking feel suits you before choosing it.
