The 30-second verdict

Yes for side and back sleepers over 230 pounds. Sleep Foundation's fit ratings were 8.5 and 8.0, respectively. The catch is the firmness label: Leesa calls it Firm, while the brand review says Medium. Sleep Foundation rates it Medium Firm (6), and many heavier stomach sleepers wanted more pushback. For all-position sleepers, Saatva HD by Saatva is a better fit to consider. Sleep Foundation lists it for all positions and gives it a 9.2 overall score. Its Queen price is $3,639; the Leesa Plus Hybrid Queen list price is $1,649. Buy it only if your sleep position matches this narrower support profile.

Pros
  • Edge support. Sleep Foundation rated edge support 8.0/10, which can help if you sit or sleep near the edge.
  • Motion isolation. Sleepopolis rated motion isolation 4.7 out of 5, so a partner's movement may be less disruptive.
  • Foam emissions. Leesa says all foams are CertiPUR-US certified to meet emissions standards.
Cons
  • Trial return fee. Leesa's 120-night trial has a $100 return fee only in Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada.
  • Queen rotation. At 123 lbs, the Queen takes effort to rotate head to foot every 4 to 6 months, as Leesa recommends.
  • Slat spacing. Leesa says slats over 5.5 inches apart count as improper and void the warranty, so check your frame.
Feel & Fit

How firm is the Plus, and which firmness should you pick?

The selectable choice is Leesa's Medium-Firm option; its separate Firm feel label describes the mattress, not another firmness choice.

Sleep Foundation tester Jeremy rated the Leesa Plus Hybrid Medium Firm (6). Sleepopolis's Riley Otis and fellow testers rated it 6.5 out of 10, medium-firm. GoodBed rated it Firm (3) on its scale, where 1 is firmest and 9 is softest. If you prefer medium-firm, Sleep Foundation's and Sleepopolis's readings are the closer match. If you want a firmer feel, GoodBed's reading points that way.

Is the Plus right for your sleep position and body weight?

For sleepers over 230 pounds, Sleep Foundation's ratings favor side or back sleeping over stomach sleeping on the Leesa Plus.

  • Side: Sleep Foundation rated it 8.5 and said it performed well among people over 230 pounds.
  • Back: It scored 8.0 for this weight group; testers weighing at least 130 pounds gave it its highest back-sleeper ratings.
  • Stomach: It scored 7.0 for sleepers over 230 pounds. Stomach sleepers weighing at least 130 pounds found support sufficient, but many wanted a firmer surface.

Combination sleepers can use their main position as a guide: the side and back ratings were higher than the stomach rating. If you sleep on your stomach and need more pushback, these findings point to a possible mismatch.

Leesa says the mattress supports up to 1,000 pounds total and sleepers up to 500 pounds. That separates the bed's capacity from its sleeper limit. Sleep Foundation rated edge support 8.0/10, a useful point if you sit on the edge or use the full surface.

  2. Shoulders: ask if the shoulder under you settles in, or if you feel a pinch after a few minutes.

Is the Plus good for back pain?

Sleepopolis tester Riley thought the Leesa Plus might offer spinal alignment and lower-back support for people with back pain, but that is not a promise of relief. Riley also cautioned that bigger-bodied stomach sleepers may sink too far, potentially causing poor alignment and back pain. If that describes you, do not treat this review as proof that the mattress will keep your back aligned.

How cool or hot does it sleep?

Leesa Plus has airflow-focused features, but outside tests recorded warming, so it is not a sure bet for neutral sleep. Leesa says its breathable knit cover uses moisture-wicking viscose, its foam has cooling gel, and its coils allow more airflow than all-foam mattresses. Sleepopolis’s Riley recorded a surface rise from 74.4 to 81.3 degrees after 5 minutes. NapLab recorded a maximum surface temperature of 90.5° F. The design may help airflow, but hot sleepers should not count on a neutral feel.

Will you feel your partner move?

Maybe. Outside readings disagree on whether the Leesa Plus keeps a partner’s movement from reaching you. Sleepopolis staff writer Kenny reports motion isolation of 4.7 out of 5 and bounce height of 24.5 inches, rated high. NapLab founder and editor-in-chief Derek Hales reports 9.56 m/s² total acceleration range, rated moderate for motion transfer, and 9.98 inches of bounce, rated moderate. For a light sleeper with a restless partner, movement could still disturb you; don’t treat the stronger Sleepopolis score as a guarantee. If motion wakes you easily, choose a mattress with stronger outside motion-isolation readings.

How is it built?

The Leesa Plus has a six-layer build, from its knit cover to its support-foam base.

  • Breathable Knit Cover
  • 1 inch Gel-Infused Quilt Foam
  • 2 inches High Performance Comfort Foam
  • 1 inch GreenFlex BioFoam
  • 8 inches Reinforced Steel Springs
  • 1 inch Durable Support Foam

Leesa says the 8-inch spring layer has up to 981 reinforced steel springs. That is a maximum, not an exact count. The Queen weighs 123 lbs, so plan help when moving it. Leesa says the mattress is designed and assembled in the USA.

Materials and certifications

The Leesa Plus has a breathable knit cover made of 84% polyester and 16% viscose. Leesa says CertiPUR-US® covers all foams in this model for emissions. GREENGUARD Gold applies to every Leesa mattress, including the Plus Hybrid, and certifies the product for low chemical emissions. The scope matters: Leesa states CertiPUR-US® certification for the foams, not the cover or whole bed.

Does the Plus have fiberglass?

Leesa says its mattresses contain no fiberglass. Leesa describes the Leesa Plus fire barrier as fire-retardant yarn made from a chemical-free rayon barrier. For a mattress you own, read its law tag: it lists the materials for that item, giving you a direct way to check the label against your needs.

What bed base does it need?

The brand says the Leesa Plus works on a firm, solid-surface base, slats no more than 5.5 inches apart for adult mattresses, or an adjustable base. It requires an adjustable base or box spring to sit on a proper bed frame that supports the combined weight of the mattress and users. The brand says direct use on a coil box spring or slats wider than 5.5 inches apart voids the Limited Lifetime Warranty. Check the slat gap and frame support before buying.

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?

Sleep Foundation expects the Leesa Plus to last 6.5 to 7.5 years. Sleepopolis gives it a durability rating of 4.6 out of 5, a score rather than a lifespan estimate.

Leesa says the break-in period lasts about 30 days, as the materials conform to your body. Leesa recommends rotating the mattress head to foot every 4 to 6 months to even out wear. Do not flip it; keep the stripes facing up.

Trials, returns and fees

Leesa says the Leesa Plus has a 120-night trial and recommends trying it for at least 30 nights from delivery before starting a return. Return requests fall within the 31-120-day trial window. In Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada, the return fee is $100, so include that cost in your decision. The $100 fee applies only in those locations.

What does the warranty cover, and what voids it?

Leesa says its warranty covers defects in the foam, springs, and cover, with repair or replacement at no cost during its initial coverage period. A base with wide slat gaps or direct placement on a coil box spring voids the Limited Lifetime Warranty. It lists a 1.5-inch sag threshold and a 50 percent proration, meaning the amount is based on the then-current retail price rather than a fixed dollar sum.

What do owners like and complain about?

Owners praise the Leesa Plus for comfort and sleep quality. Leesa.com lists 41 reviews; Sleepopolis reports an average of 4.1 out of 5 from 30 reviews on Leesa’s site. Since those reviews are hosted by Leesa, read the score as owner feedback, not an independent review pool.

At Walmart, frequent mentions include sleep quality (5) and comfort (3). One 5-star Leesa-origin review praises comfort and temperature. For your decision, treat those themes as a useful sign of the comfort owners describe, not a promise that every sleeper will feel the same.
