Spindle is a US online-only maker with two certified-organic beds. One is a 10-inch, fully rearrangeable Dunlop latex mattress. The other is a 10-inch latex-over-coil hybrid. Both use GOTS cotton and GOLS plus OEKO-TEX latex. It's a good match if you put latex first and like tuning firmness yourself. The big caveats are that there are no showrooms and that returns mean you donate the bed yourself. You'll want to read the return steps before you order.

Good fit: shoppers wanting certified-organic latex (GOTS cotton, GOLS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 latex per Spindle's product specs); back, side and combination sleepers who like to tune firmness by rearranging or swapping latex layers; couples wanting split-firmness King or Queen setups; chemical-sensitive shoppers avoiding polyurethane foam, synthetic latex and added chemical flame retardants.
Poor fit: shoppers wanting to try in a store; anyone needing white-glove setup or old-mattress removal; shoppers with BMI 31 or over (Spindle's returns page says the models are not intended for that range); buyers wanting a traditional pickup return instead of a donate-it-yourself process.

Chapter 02
Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you
Why this matters to you: Feel names are the brand's words, not measurements. Use them to shortlist two or three beds, then let your body decide.
Side sleepers: start with the softest layer arrangement on the Organic Latex or Soft on the Hybrid for pressure relief; the brand's own reviews page stresses comfort is subjective. Back sleepers: Medium arrangements suit most; spinal-alignment support is the Hybrid's pitch via zoned coils. Stomach sleepers: firmer setups reduce hammocking; strict stomach sleepers often prefer the Firm Hybrid.
Combination sleepers: latex's buoyancy plus the Hybrid's coils ease movement. Hot sleepers: breathable latex, cotton and wool with no memory foam; no active cooling tech. Allergy-sensitive: hypoallergenic latex positioning with dust-mite-resistant wool; no synthetic latex or poly foam per Spindle.
Couples: split-firmness latex setups plus the Hybrid's pocketed coils for motion separation. Heavier sleepers: note Spindle states its models are not intended where BMI is 31 or over; check the returns/FAQ page before buying.

Which Spindle feel fits you?
Weight chart not yet researched
Weight and sleep position can change how a bed feels. We have not yet checked whether Spindle publishes a fit chart by body weight, so use a trial, where one is offered, to test the bed the way you sleep at home.
Neck: on your side, your nose should line up with the middle of your chest, not tip up or down.
Shoulders: your bottom shoulder should sink in. Tingling or a numb arm means the bed is too firm for you.
Lower back: on your back, slide a flat hand under your waist. A big gap means too firm; no room at all can mean too soft.
Hips: ask someone to look from the side. Hips lower than shoulders means the bed is too soft for you.
Figure 2.1: Four checks to run in a store, lying still in the position you sleep in most. The store test in chapter 11 says how long to lie on each bed.
Chapter 03
Compare the mattresses
Why this matters to you: Models from one brand can differ in feel, height and layers. Match the feel label and height to how you sleep before you compare prices.
Spindle lists 3 models. Feel names are the brand's labels.
Organic Latex Mattress (flagship, most popular; 10 inches): three 3-inch layers of organic Dunlop latex (one Soft 20-23 ILD, one Medium 26-29 ILD, one Firm 34-37 ILD) inside a zippered 1-inch quilted organic-cotton-and-wool cover; rearrange layers at home for Medium (about 5/10) to Firm (about 7.5/10). Sale pricing: Twin and Twin XL $1,199.99, Full $1,499.99, Queen $1,699.99, King and California King $1,999.99 (compare-at $1,749.99 to $2,599.99).
Best for hands-on latex purists.
Organic Hybrid Mattress (sold on-site as Latex Hybrid Mattress; 10 inches): 1-inch quilted organic-cotton-and-wool cover over 3 inches of organic Dunlop latex (choose Soft, Medium or Firm at purchase) over individually wrapped US-made coils (up to 1,365 coils in Cal King).
Sale pricing: Twin and Twin XL $1,199.99 (compare $1,799.99), Full $1,499.99 (compare $1,999.99), Queen $1,599.99 (compare $2,199.99), King and Cal King $1,999.99 (compare up to $2,599.99). Best for shoppers wanting latex feel with coil support and a lower Queen price than the all-latex.
Choose Your Firmness / Split-Firmness configurations: made-to-order firmness presets and per-side split setups of the Organic Latex Mattress (e.g., Split-Firmness Queen $2,099.99 sale; Split-Firmness King from $2,299.99 sale); these are configurations, not separate constructions. Accessories (not mattresses): foundation, 3-inch latex layer, replacement cover, gift card.

Mattress prices and value
Why this matters to you: A starting price can rise with size, base and delivery. Get the full price for your size in writing before you choose.
Value positioning is direct-to-consumer organic latex at roughly $1,000 below comparable retail, per Spindle's homepage claim. Latex Queen $1,699.99 sale (compare $2,299.99); Hybrid Queen $1,599.99 sale (compare $2,199.99); Twin/Twin XL from $1,199.99 in both lines; Kings top out at $1,999.99 sale. Split-firmness costs more (Queen $2,099.99, King from $2,299.99 sale).
Included value: 120-night trial, 10-year warranty, 25-Year Comfort Life replacement-layer discount, free contiguous-48 shipping. Watchouts: extra Alaska/Hawaii/Canada freight, taxes and donation/hauling costs are not refunded; sale vs compare-at framing only.

Chapter 05
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Why this matters to you: A mattress is a long buy. Lean on the written warranty and real owner reports to judge how it will last.
Latex is inherently durable and Spindle backs it with a 10-year warranty plus a 25-Year Comfort Life program letting the original owner buy a replacement latex layer at a 30 percent discount at any time. Warranty remedy covers manufacturing defects in latex layers (example given: sag over 3/4 inch in the latex only, cover excluded) with replacement materials, not necessarily a whole new mattress.
Limits tempering expectations: cover, normal softening/contouring, comfort preference and sheet fit are excluded; law-tag removal voids coverage; suitable foundation with center support (Full/Queen/King) is required. Real-world long-term failure rates are not published by the brand; independent long-term data not found as of Sept 2026.

Sleep trials, returns, exchanges and fees
Why this matters to you: Feel is hard to judge in a store or in a week. Know your exit plan and its cost before you pay.
120-night home trial (Spindle urges about 60 days of sleeping plus troubleshooting first). Trial covers one mattress refund per household, handled directly with Spindle within 120 days of arrival.
Process: contact staff to try rearranged layers, base checks or a different latex mix; if still unsatisfied, donate the mattress to a nonprofit and mail proof of donation plus cut identifying labels; refund goes to the original card (5 to 10 business days to post). Full money-back promise on the mattress, but extra Canada/Alaska/Hawaii freight, brokerage, GST/QST/HST, donation, hauling, cleaning and disposal costs are not reimbursed.
Pre-shipment cancellation is free. Exchanges: handled as layer swaps/troubleshooting rather than a formal exchange program. 3-inch layers and foundations: unopened in original packing within 30 days (buyer pays postage); opened comfort layers are final except transit damage/misshipment reported within 30 days.
Outlet/as-is goods are final; marketplace purchases follow that seller's policy.

Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal
Why this matters to you: Delivery terms decide your first week with the bed. Confirm the date, setup and old-bed removal before you pay.
Free FedEx no-contact delivery anywhere in the contiguous 48 states (excludes APO/FPO and PO boxes); typical lead time 7 to 10 days/business days since beds are made to order. FedEx to doorstep; freight carriers may be used by location. No white-glove setup and no old-mattress removal: Spindle states it cannot take the mattress back or remove it from the home, which also shapes the return process.
Unopened 3-inch layers ship back at buyer expense within 30 days. Alaska, Hawaii and Canada terms/fees: see checkout and returns page before ordering.
Typical wait: 7 to 10 days

What do the warranties cover?
Why this matters to you: A warranty is only as good as its terms. Read the written terms and use a supported base, because the wrong frame can end coverage.
10-year limited warranty from purchase date for the original purchaser with proof of purchase; service does not extend the term. Covers manufacturing structural faults in latex layers (cover excluded), e.g., sag exceeding 3/4 inch in the latex only; remedy is repair or replacement of deficient materials (shipped free within the 48 states), or comparable substitute stock if originals are unavailable.
Foundation covered for 10 years only when bought with the mattress. Excludes: cover ticking, normal aging/softening, comfort preference, sheet fit/height, clearance/demo/as-is/B-stock, damage/neglect/misuse/soiling, unhygienic condition, wrong base (Full/Queen/King need a rigid center brace with at least two floor legs), removed law tag, consequential damages. Claims: direct buyers contact Spindle; marketplace buyers contact the seller first.
Separately, the 25-Year Comfort Life program lets the original owner buy a replacement latex layer at 30 percent off at any time. Source: https://spindlemattress.com/blogs/faq/10-year-limited-mattress-warranty.
Covered when the dip is deeper than 3/4 inch, measured with nobody on the bed.
Strip the bed down to the mattress and wait a few hours so the top layers can recover.
Lay a straight edge (a broom handle or long level) across the dip, resting on the flat parts.
Measure from the edge down to the deepest point, then photograph the ruler for your claim.

Review counts checked on each site · they change daily
Customer reviews and complaints
Why this matters to you: Star ratings depend on who posts and where. Read the low-star reviews for patterns, not just the average.
Spindle advertises 1,000+ 5-star reviews on its homepage and shows a Forbes best-latex/organic seal on product imagery. Positive themes per Spindle: helpful staff, easy assembly, adjustable feel helping combination sleepers and back-pain shoppers, repeat family purchases.
Friction/complaint themes grounded in policy: comfort is subjective and tuning the layers is DIY; returns require donating the mattress yourself with mailed proof and cut labels (no pickup, no removal service); extra freight/taxes are nonrefundable; marketplace orders must go through that seller. Third-party aggregate scores and BBB/litigation status: not published as of Sept 2026.

Chapter 10
What are the mattresses made of?
Why this matters to you: Layer names say little without numbers. Ask what is inside your exact model, layer by layer.
Organic Latex: 9 inches of organic Dunlop latex (three 3-inch layers: Soft 65 kg/m3, Medium 75 kg/m3, Firm 85 kg/m3; made in Sri Lanka from Sri Lankan material) plus a 1-inch quilted cover of circular-knit organic cotton (360 gsm; knitted in Canada from US- and India-grown cotton) with wool batting (carded in California from New Zealand wool).
Organic Hybrid: same cover concept over 3 inches of organic Dunlop (Soft/Medium/Firm choice) plus individually wrapped coils (US-made). No synthetic latex, no polyurethane foam, no fiberglass, no added chemical flame retardants; wool acts as the fire barrier. Certifications stated on Spindle's latex product page: GOTS-certified organic cotton; OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOLS-certified organic latex.
CertiPUR-US and eco-INSTITUT are not applicable/published (no poly foam); GREENGUARD not published as of Sept 2026. Evidence: https://spindlemattress.com/products/latex-mattress and https://spindlemattress.com/products/organic-hybrid-mattress.

Chapter 11
Where can you try and buy the mattresses?
Why this matters to you: Where you buy sets the price, the trial and who handles problems. Check the seller's terms, not just the brand's.
Online-only: buy direct at https://spindlemattress.com (mattresses, foundation, layers, covers). No brand showrooms or try-before-you-buy stores published. Spindle also lists through marketplaces (its returns page names Wayfair, Amazon and Etsy as examples) but marketplace orders must be returned through that seller.
Support: support@spindlemattress.com, Monday to Friday 9 AM to 4:30 PM PST, closed weekends. No phone number or street address is published; headquarters/factory-ownership detail not published as of Sept 2026 (brand states US partners make beds to order; it does not run its own factory).

Spindle vs. other mattress brands
Why this matters to you: A fair comparison needs the same facts for both beds. Line up price, trial and warranty for each one.
Versus Avocado/PlushBeds/Birch (certified-organic latex/hybrid peers): Spindle's edge is price (often hundreds less at Queen) plus user-rearrangeable latex layers and split-firmness options; its gap is no stores, no white-glove delivery/removal, and a donate-it-yourself return versus competitors' pickup returns.
Versus Saatva Latex Hybrid: Spindle leans fully organic-certified and DIY-tunable while Saatva offers white-glove delivery and broader showroom/brand presence at higher prices. Versus budget bed-in-box hybrids: Spindle costs more but offers certified organic materials and a 25-year layer-discount program instead of poly-foam comfort layers.
Competitor details reflect published prices and specs on the date shown. Mattress brands may update prices and trial terms over time.

How we research and report
This page is an early draft built from our research sheet for Spindle. We read the brand's own pages and public listings, and we do not test mattresses ourselves. Fields marked "Not yet researched" are still being checked.
Brand row compiled from Spindle's official site first (product JSON/variant feeds for prices, product pages for construction and certifications, FAQ/blog pages for trial, returns and warranty), then attempted retailer/review triangulation;. Prices are sale/compare-at as listed in Spindle's variant feeds and will change; certifications are claims on Spindle pages, not independently audit-verified here. Research date: Sept 2026.

Quick Answers
Quick Answers Before You Buy
Safety and materials
Buying and policies
Is Spindle's latex really certified organic?
Spindle states its cotton is GOTS-certified and its Dunlop latex is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOLS-certified; see the latex product page specs and ask support for current certificate copies before purchase.
Can I change the firmness after buying?
Yes on the all-latex: unzip the cover and reorder the Soft/Medium/Firm 3-inch layers (about 5/10 to 7.5/10); on the Hybrid you pick Soft, Medium or Firm at purchase.
How does the 120-night return actually work?
Troubleshoot with staff first, then donate the mattress to a nonprofit, mail proof plus cut labels, and Spindle refunds the card; there is no pickup or removal service.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
Latex-layer manufacturing defects such as sag over 3/4 inch in the latex (cover excluded), for the original owner with receipt, law tag and proper foundation.
Where is it made and how long is delivery?
Designed, quilted, sewn, assembled and packaged in the USA by partners (latex from Sri Lanka); typically 7 to 10 days with free contiguous-48 FedEx delivery.
Does Spindle remove my old mattress?
No; delivery is doorstep only and Spindle states it cannot remove a mattress from the home.
