The 30-second verdict

The Bear Pro Foam's catch is deep sinkage. NapLab warns this may not suit back or stomach sleepers, so skip it if you sleep that way and dislike sinking in. If price comes first, the Siena Signature Memory Foam Mattress costs $329.00 for a Queen; the Bear Pro Foam's Queen list price is $1,427.00. NapLab rated the Bear a fit for sleepers under 150 lbs in side, back, and stomach positions.

Pros
  • Edge support score. NapLab scored its edge support 9.5, a useful point if you sit or sleep near the edge.
  • Adjustable base. Bear recommends an adjustable base, so this bed is an option for buyers with that setup.
  • Fiberglass-free claim. Bear says the Pro Foam is fiberglass-free, which may suit buyers who want to avoid fiberglass.
Cons
  • Motion transfer. NapLab measured moderate motion transfer at 10.19 m/s², so factor that in if you share the bed.
  • Low bounce. NapLab measured low bounce at 7.04 inches total, so it may not suit you if you want a springier feel.
  • Cooling readings. NapLab's baseline, max, and ending readings were 81.1° F, 92.1° F, and 83.0° F; compare them with your cooling needs.
Feel & Fit

How firm is the Pro Foam, and which firmness should you pick?

Choose Medium-Firm if you want a medium-firm feel; Bear rates the Bear Pro Foam 6.5-7/10 on its mattress firmness scale.

Is the Pro Foam right for your sleep position and body weight?

For sleepers under 150 lbs, the Bear Pro Foam is a fit to consider in the positions NapLab rated:

  • Side: Yes
  • Back: Yes
  • Stomach: Yes

For a single-position sleeper, start with the matching line. For a combination sleeper, compare all the positions you use, not just the one you fall asleep in. Use the full position pattern to guide your choice if you are in that group.

NapLab gave its edge support a score of 9.5. Compare that score with your need for edge support. This matters if you sit on the edge to get dressed or sleep near it. Let edge use factor into your choice alongside position and weight.

Feel & Fit

Is the Pro Foam good for back pain?

It may support spinal alignment, but these claims do not promise back-pain relief. Bear says its high-density foam base promotes proper spinal alignment and gives the bed a stable, supportive feel. NapLab says it meets its spinal-alignment and pressure-relief criteria without major issues. NapLab also warns that very deep sinkage may not suit back sleepers. Treat these points as support information, not proof that the bed will ease back pain.

How cool or hot does it sleep?

NapLab’s readings show temperature rose during the test, then ended near its starting point. Bear says its quilted Celliant® infrared cover has fibers that convert excess body heat into infrared energy. Bear also says Gel Swirl Memory Foam draws heat away and disperses it. NapLab recorded a baseline of 81.1° F, a max of 92.1° F, and an ending temperature of 83.0° F. Use the readings as a heat-build-up check alongside Bear’s cooling claims when deciding whether this bed fits your needs.

Will you feel your partner move?

Yes, some partner movement may reach you, so a light sleeper should be cautious with a restless partner. NapLab rated Bear Pro Foam's motion transfer moderate, measuring 10.19 m/s² acceleration. NapLab also rated bounce low, at 7.04 inches total. Low bounce points to less rebound, but it does not erase the moderate motion-transfer result. If partner shifts wake you, treat this reading as a reason to think twice before choosing this bed.

Build & Safety

How is the Pro Foam built, and what is it made of?

The Bear Pro Foam has an all-foam build with 0 coils and a quilted cover.

  • Quilted Celliant® Infrared Cover: plush fabric with fibers that Bear says convert excess body heat into infrared energy.
  • Extra Quilt Foam: quilt foam that Bear says cushions and cradles joints on contact.
  • Gel Swirl Memory Foam: gel-infused memory foam that Bear says has a cooling effect.
  • Responsive Comfort Foam: firmer foam with a slight bounce. Bear says it lifts and reinforces the layers above.
  • High-Density Foundation Foam: resilient, high-density base foam, 5 in thick.

Bear says the mattress is assembled in the USA. The Queen measures 60"W x 80"L x 12"H and weighs 68 lb; check the sizes table for other sizes. CertiPUR-US® covers the foam. GREENGUARD Gold by UL certifies the Pro mattress for low emissions.

Does the Pro Foam have fiberglass?

Bear says the Pro Foam is fiberglass-free and meets federal mattress fire rules without fiberglass fabric. For shoppers avoiding fiberglass, that is a clear answer about this model. Bear's statement covers its fire-safety claim, so you can use it to decide whether fiberglass is a reason to rule out the Pro Foam.

What bed base does it need?

This bed needs a firm, flat, sturdy platform or foundation. Keep slats no more than 5.5 inches apart. Bear says wider gaps do not work and void the warranty. Bear says box springs do not work. A matching adjustable base works if it supports the mattress and sleepers and has a proper bed frame. Bear's warranty does not cover sag or dips from an adjustable base that does not fit or support the bed. Bear allows the floor as an exception. Keep air flowing and use a level surface with even support. Bear recommends a frame or foundation instead.

Build & Safety

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?

Bear sets a break-in period of 30 nights, so let the feel settle before deciding if it suits you. Since Bear describes the bed as one-sided, leave the sleep surface on top. An end-to-end turn is Bear’s optional care suggestion: 180 degrees every 6 months, which it says may preserve a fresh feel. NapLab lists average comfort foam density at 1.68 PCF, maximum comfort foam density at 2.04 PCF, and maximum support foam density at 1.66 PCF. PCF means pounds per cubic foot.

Delivery, setup and old mattress removal

Bear says the Bear Pro Foam ships free via FedEx in a compressed, rolled box to the lower 48 states. Most orders ship within 5 to 8 business days, and FedEx transit time varies by destination, so your arrival date can vary. Setup costs a $194 base fee, plus $25 per mattress, so budget for both charges. Check at checkout for Ryder’s In-Home Setup & Removal, which includes old mattress removal where offered. A partner can also add removal after delivery.

Trials, returns and fees

Bear says the Pro Foam trial lasts 365 nights, but returns are allowed after 30 nights. Return fee: Free. No restocking or process and handling fees. Bear says it refunds the full mattress cost, less any discounts, to the original form of payment after the mattress is removed and confirmed by Brooklyn Bedding LLC. Bear allows one exchange within 365 nights of delivery for a new model or different feel. The exchanged mattress is not eligible for return, refund or trial period. Only one return or exchange is allowed per customer, household and address. Bear excludes Closeout, Clearance, Final Sale, Factory Clearance and older dated model mattresses from returns, exchanges and refunds.

What does the warranty cover, and what voids it?

Bear says the Pro Foam has a limited lifetime warranty for mattresses purchased starting 02/01/2025. It covers a visible indentation greater than 1.5 inches. Removing the mattress cover or using a base with slats more than 5.5 inches apart voids coverage; stains and liquid damage are not covered.

Keep proof of purchase for a claim. Bear ships a replacement at no cost in years 1 to 10. After year 10, you pay a prorated replacement charge: years 11 to 15, 50 percent; years 16 to 20, 60 percent; year 21 and later, 75 percent of the then current retail price.

How does the Pro Foam compare?

Bear's other models provide need-based alternatives to the Bear Pro Foam. Bear recommends the Elite Hybrid for pressure relief for your back, hips, or shoulders and the Elite Ultra Hybrid for maximum responsiveness without sleep disturbances. Bear recommends the Original for stable support and relief for everyday aches and pains, and the Original Hybrid for hybrid comfort and support. Bear recommends Bear Natural if you want a mattress made with organic cotton and natural latex.

Other-brand alternatives are the Siena 10” Signature Memory Foam Mattress, Loom & Leaf Mattress (Saatva), and Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Memory Foam. The Siena's $329.00 Queen price is a budget checkpoint if you are considering it.
