The 30-second verdict
Yes, the Bear Natural may suit side sleepers who like moderate contouring and a medium-firm, responsive latex-hybrid feel. The catch is in-home setup costs $194 plus $25 per mattress. Nectar Classic by Nectar may fit better if you want pressure-relieving memory foam; its Queen price is $699, while Bear Natural's Queen list price is $2,427.00. The Bear Natural Queen weighs 110 lbs, so plan for help moving it. Buy it only if its feel fits your sleep priorities.

How firm is the Bear Natural, and which firmness should you pick?
Bear describes the Natural as medium-firm, and Sleep Foundation’s reading supports considering it for side sleepers. Sleep Foundation rated it Medium Firm (6); most of its side-sleeping testers enjoyed the feel and moderate contouring. Mattress Clarity scored it 6.5/10 and called it true medium-firm. GoodBed rated it Medium-Firm (4) on the GoodBed rating scale, where 1 is firmest and 9 is softest. Choose it if medium-firm matches your preference; Sleep Foundation offers the specific side-sleeper clue. Read each score on its tester’s own scale, rather than comparing the numbers alone.
Is the Bear Natural right for your sleep position and body weight?
Sleep Foundation’s ratings point to the Bear Natural as a better fit for side and back than stomach sleepers over 230 pounds. Side or back is the stronger choice within this weight group.
Side: Sleep Foundation rated it 8.5/10, its highest rating among these positions.
Back: Sleep Foundation rated it 8.0/10. Most testers received adequate support, though those carrying more weight around their hips preferred a firmer mattress.
Stomach: Sleep Foundation rated it 7.0/10. This is the lowest-rated position in this group, so stomach sleepers have less reassuring fit feedback.
Sleep Foundation rated edge support 7.0/10. If you rely on a firm-feeling edge, factor that score into your choice rather than assuming the perimeter will feel secure.
The Bear Natural may be worth considering for back pain, but its support claims do not promise relief. Bear says its zoned coil system uses higher-gauged coils to target lumbar, or lower-back, support. Sleep Foundation lists the mattress as a good fit for people with back pain. Mattress Clarity says its zoned support is a great feature for back pain. Treat those as support claims, not a guarantee that pain will improve.
Outside readings lean warm, not clearly neutral. NapLab measured a maximum surface temperature of 92.5°F, 2.91° warmer than average. Sleep Foundation rated temperature control 7.0/10, while Sleepline gave cooling a 7.5 score with no degree reading. Bear lists organic cotton yarn for a breathable feel, a responsive comfort layer for added airflow, and zoned coils for breathability. If you sleep hot, treat this as a cautious pick rather than a sure bet for cool sleep.
You may feel a restless partner move; the outside readings do not promise this bed will keep motion contained. Sleep Foundation rated Motion Isolation 5.0/10 and Ease of Movement 7.0/10; it says the coil core adds bounce, and its tester called the bed bouncy. Mattress Clarity reported 3.5 Motion Transfer and described a very bouncy latex hybrid feel. GoodBed rated Motion Isolation Pretty Good (6) and Bounce High (7).
If you are a light sleeper, expect possible disturbance rather than assuming your partner’s movement will stay isolated. Choose this bed only if some movement and bounce are acceptable to you.

How is the Bear Natural built, and what is it made of?
The Bear Natural has six layers, from quilted cotton to a foam base, arranged top to bottom:
Quilting with Organic Cotton: organic cotton.
Natural Latex Comfort Layer: Bear describes the latex as 100% natural, sustainably sourced and non-toxic.
Responsive Comfort Layer: Polyfoam.
Individually Encased Zoned Coils: individually encased coils, which Bear says provide well-distributed support.
Reinforced Edge Coils: extra strong coils that Bear says enhance edge support.
Shock Absorbing Base Layer: DuraDense, which Bear says supports and adds durability to the mattress.
Bear says the mattress is made in America using foreign and domestic components. CertiPUR-US covers its layers, GREENGUARD Gold certifies the mattress, and GOTS certifies its organic cotton yarn.
For a Queen, check that 60" x 80" x 13" fits your room. At 110 lbs, plan how you will move it into place.
Bear says the Bear Natural has no fiberglass. Bear says fabric in its quilted mattress panels provides the fire barrier. The brand says the blend contains non-woven hydrated silica, rayon, polyester, and cotton. Bear says it uses this barrier instead of sprayed-on fire-retardant chemicals. Check the law tag, which lists the mattress materials.
A firm, flat, sturdy platform or foundation works, with slats less than 5.5 inches apart. Bear says not to use a box spring, and slats more than 5.5 inches apart void the warranty. A matching adjustable base should work if it supports the mattress and sleepers and has a proper bed frame; check fit with third-party bases, since some may not fit. Sag or indentation from an improper or unsupportive adjustable base is not covered.
How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?
Outside reviewers give different lifespan estimates, and Bear says to leave this mattress unflipped. Sleep Foundation estimates around seven to eight years and gives it a durability score of 9.0/10; Mattress Clarity expects at least 10 years. GoodBed rates durability Very Good (8). Treat these as rough estimates, not a promise. Bear's guidance is to allow at least 30 nights for break-in and, if you want, turn it end to end twice a year.
Bear says this mattress ships free in a compressed, rolled box via FedEx to the US lower 48 states. Most orders ship within 5 to 8 business days, but FedEx transit time varies by destination.
Bear says setup costs a $194 base fee, plus $25 per mattress. Its In-Home Setup & Removal by Ryder service includes old mattress removal when offered at checkout where available. Bear says removal can also be added after delivery through a partner.

Bear says its 365 nights trial allows returns after 30 nights. Returns are free, with no restocking or process and handling fees. Once Brooklyn Bedding LLC removes and confirms the mattress, its full cost, less any discounts, goes to your original payment method. You may exchange once within 365 nights of delivery for a new model or different feel; the exchanged mattress has no return, refund or trial period. Closeout, Clearance, Final Sale, Factory Clearance and older dated model mattresses cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded. Opened adjustable bases cannot be returned; foundations and frames get a 30-night trial only.

Bear says mattresses purchased starting 02/01/2025 have a limited lifetime warranty covering visible indentation greater than 1.5 inches. Removing the cover or using an improper base with slats more than 5.5 inches apart voids coverage; stains and liquid damage are not covered. Proof of purchase is required to claim.
Bear ships a replacement at no cost in years 1 to 10. After year 10, you pay the prorated replacement charge: 50 percent in years 11 to 15, 60 percent in years 16 to 20, and 75 percent of the then current retail price in year 21 and later.
Owners and shoppers most often praise the Bear Natural's cooler, supportive latex-hybrid feel, easy movement, and stronger edge support, according to Sleepiverse. If those are priorities for you, this is the positive feedback to weigh, but owner impressions cannot guarantee your own comfort.
Mattress Clarity describes the Bear Natural as a newer model and says reviews, both positive and negative, are limited. Treat that feedback as a small pool of owner experience, not a broad picture of satisfaction across buyers.
The closest alternatives are Bear's sibling models for different sleep needs, with Zenhaven for latex and Nectar Classic for memory foam. For pressure in your back, hips, or shoulders, Elite Hybrid is the Bear sibling to consider. Bear says Elite Ultra Hybrid may help hot sleepers sleep up to 4 degrees cooler for 12 hours. If you want an all-foam feel or pressure relief for achy muscles and joints, Pro Foam is the fit; for couples or combination sleepers who toss and turn, consider Pro Hybrid. Bear Original fits value-minded shoppers seeking stable support for everyday aches and pains; Original Hybrid is the alternative when hybrid comfort and support lead.
Zenhaven is an all-latex bed that flips between two firmness options. Sleep Foundation gives it an 8.7 overall test lab score and lists side sleepers, back sleepers over 130 pounds, and stomach sleepers among its best fits.
Nectar Classic is a budget-focused memory-foam alternative with a Queen price of 699.00. Sleep Foundation gives it an 8.7/10 Test Lab Score.
